This hotel is more like a bed and breakfast so I'm rating it accordingly.
First, location: it's a perfect 10 minute walk from the Colosseum. The staff is also very friendly and knowledgeable on the area so they will help by providing you a map and giving you advice on how to get to your destination. It's also situated on a street with a ton of places to eat and a supermarket and pharmacy in case you need snacks or medicine. You're probably asking yourself why I would include this in my review but my friend and I both came down with a cold when we were in Rome so this location was very convenient for us.
Second, the staff: they're super friendly and speak both Italian and English. The woman who checked us in told us all the sights we had to see and how to get there. They also reminded us that there was a complimentary breakfast in the morning (I believe until 930am).
Third, the grounds: you may be very impressed by the pictures on Expedia or their website, but their balcony area isn't what they advertise it to be. It's just an outdoor patio and even though the weather was nice, no one went up there. It was dark and had poor lighting. I was looking forward to drinking some wine and sitting on the rooftop but that didn't happen.
The rooms are also EXTREMELY small. Smaller than I've ever seen. We booked a room for 2 and there were 2 twins beds... and nothing more. There was a TV that only had 2 channels (and no volume) and the channels were STRANGE (playing Chopped in the day, and inappropriate content at night - we were very confused). If you're traveling with kids, I don't suggest staying here because they will get antsy fast. There were also no windows in the room so it was always very dark. The bathroom was also very, VERY small. This didn't bother me much since we were out sightseeing all day, but showering was a hassle. I'm a tiny person and I had trouble figuring out how best to stand in the shower without falling out and getting water everywhere.
Fourth, the food: eat elsewhere. The complimentary breakfast has your standard breakfast pastries, coffee, as well as some meats and cheeses but you are better off buying small items from the supermarket for breakfast. There is also a separate restaurant in front of the hotel that is always busy, but beware because all of this food is pre-made and lackluster. Skip eating here and walk up to one of the many lunch spots that are on the same street. You can't miss them and they are probably much better.
All in all, this is a good bed and breakfast for those who won't be in their room for most of the day. If you will be out sightseeing, this is a good place to crash at night, but I wouldn't recommend this for anyone who is looking for a luxury experience. If I were to visit Rome again, I wouldn't mind staying here. read more
