downtown sonora...after dinner and looking for some ice cream for the children...kids were immediately drawn to the fro-yo shop...just seeing one staff...some tables near the entrance and the center dominated by a large salad bar...wasn't expecting to see a salad bar in a fro-yo shop...just seemed odd...didn't see anyone eating salad...couple other customers eating fro-yo...going to the fro-yo pumps and just 4 flavors...the consistency of the fro-yo wasn't great...little watery and mushy looking fro-yo coming out...moving on to the topping station...definitely a large variety of toppings...endless boba selection along with candy, cookies and more...pay by weight...it's pricey...quality isn't great...thought it was a little odd how quickly the staff locks in the weight the second you place the fro-yo on the scale to get the price...no others in line... read more

Highway robbery! Go here if you want to have an authentic experience of being robbed in a gold Rush town. Outrageously expensive! Two medium to small containers of yogurt cost $16! This attached picture of a tiny bit of yogurt in the smallest container cost $5.04! They have four flavors to choose from and lots of toppings. A fun frozen yogurt option in the area. In addition to frozen yogurt (love the cake batter option) - they also have a build your own salad buffet, a build your own baked potato option, a build your own nachos option, chili and three soup options. Their frozen yogurt options were fairly limited (though they switch them out often) - but their topping selection was quite extensive. Their topping selection ranged from your standard fro-yo options to fun ones like cheesecake bites and fruit flavored boba-like balls. I have to admit that though the options were plentiful - some of the options - like the fruit, did not look too fresh or appealing. I think honestly I would give this spot 3 stars, but after browsing their FB page, I noticed that they generously offered free food to those affected by the recent Aero Fire. I went here for the first time yesterday. I have nothing really negative to say about this place. The options for the frozen yogurt itself is limited, but I'm personally all about toppings so it didn't matter much to me. The yogurt was super refreshing and the amount of toppings they have is amazing. The employee was also incredible. He was very welcoming, and had a smile on his face even when we weren't interacting with him. When he wasn't behind the counter, he was wiping tables and making himself busy. He explained everything to us super well and was very polite. The place was also super clean, which is a major plus. I'd recommend this place to anyone! If you are more so into the yogurt itself you may be disappointed, but you can check their Instagram for the flavors they have currently so you will know before you take the trip over there. (They also have a baked potato, salad and nacho bar, but I didn't try any of those items. However they looked good!) read more

I've came here a couple times one of the downsides of this place is they aren't dog friendly, which I think is a little weird because everybody in downtown always has a dog and you shouldn't have to leave your baby out when you're eating yogurt. I used to go to Yo Good all the time when I was younger-I loved the selection of toppings and variety of flavors they had. However, I just recently went back with my friend- and there were only four flavors to choose from- chocolate, vanilla, cake batter, and sour apple. My friend informed me that these have been the same flavors the past several times she has gone in the past year. They still had a selection of toppings, however all of the candy toppings- the gummies, brownie bites, candy pieces, etc- were stale. The berries were dry like they had been sitting out for days. The restaurant smelled like an old sewage house, and it was very humid and hot in there. The staff however were attentive, but the only thing they had to do was check us out. Overall, this place has gone down hill- while the idea is there for a self serve yogurt bar, they just need more variety of flavors and fresher toppings. read more

I must tip my hat and give an ultimate 5 star review for this local small business. first in foremost let me just say that they extended a very much needed hand to a neighboring county while we were in dire need of a smile and a meal. during a stage 3 fire evacuation, our county was displaced and Its Yo Good Yogurt offered all impacted a free meal. not only was it imperative for parents to fuel up but offered a moment of happiness for our children to help themselves to some yummy yogurt and toppings. all the children that were impacted and traumatically hanging on to the few belongings they had left, if their homes were gone, were smiling. Parents were fueling up on a nacho, potato, and salad bar, allowing us to regroup and regain focus before we headed back home after a very fire. I appreciate Its Yo Good Yogurt so much! I am so grateful for their generosity, and will always remember how they offered a hand in a time of need. FOR A NEIGHBORING COUNTY! this just makes me love Tuolumne county more. Haven't been in here in years. Went in to get some frozen yogurt for my son. As soon as you walked in it was like walking in to a sauna. It was a hot and very humid. 86 outside and felt like it was hotter inside. I've spent time in Louisiana and it was worse. The smell was like a laundromat. They used to have lots of different flavors but only had 4 choices and that were all pretty plain. Toppings used to be awesome. Now not so much. Don't try the "fruit salmon eggs" they are horrible. I don't know what happened to this place but I won't be back until I hear that it's better. Very disappointing. read more

Visited Sonora from Southern California over Thanksgiving and stopped here so kids could get yogurt. Neither kid finished theirs, they said it "wasn't good" and the toppings (marshmallows) were physically "hard." They had only 4 flavors. The shop itself felt dingy and needed a good wash. Workers were wearing masks, but the self-service topping area and salad bar seemed like they were itching for contamination w all the unwashed hands touching the serving spoons. We love going here! It is so bright and colorful the moment you walk in! The staff were nice and super happy people. You get to pick the size cup of soft serve ice cream you want and then get to choose from a variety of different flavors. They have a huge selection of toppings with everything you can think of! At the end they weigh your cup and you pay by the weight! They have several tables to sit at while you can relax and enjoy your dessert. If you go often enough they have business cards and they punch holes in it, and after purchasing so many ice creams you get a free one! They are very reasonable with there pricing! Love it. My fiance and I used to come here a lot and the selection of frozen yogurt and toppings we're mind blowing for me. Never really had this and it was delicious. On my visit there, I liked to put the syrups at the bottom then the yogurt and top it with as much brownies or chocolate toppings as much as possible! Oof! It certainly satisfied my sweet tooth and I hope to return soon! I have yet to try their food though, it all still looks good. The place is really cute and usually is not crowded when we go. Every experience we had with the employees were very kind and amazing. Lots of fun things. Finally! A self-serve yogurt shop in Sonora with more toppings than the usual ones found in the Bay Area. My friend & I stopped in the other evening during their first week of business and the place was full of customers even after they had officially closed for the day. My favorite: vanilla & strawberry blend with fresh strawberries as a topping! This shop also features an extensive salad bar & sandwiches. I didn't have a chance to see the sandwich menu but was most interested in seeing whether or not their salad ingredients would go beyond the standard fare. I'm pleased to say that I saw no signs of iceberg lettuce (a big plus in my book) and all of the other ingredients looked quite fresh for our end-of-day visit. I've been here several times since they opened and wish I could go more. Love the business model--all you want and pay by the ounce. Lots of options but kept simple at the same time. Always clean and they exhibit local students' art. I actually wish I'd gone the day Andrea went because I've always thought that ALL of the staff was unnaturally quiet...then again, maybe the owners checked Yelp. I personally like to see people comfortable and happy at work but i can see how acting natural and professional at the same time might be tough for a lot of teens. Ah, well. Yo Awesome is more like it! When I heard a frozen yogurt place was opening in town, I was skeptical. (I thought to myself, "Wow... that's so 1990..." ) Now I'm absolutely hooked! I have a retail store a block away, and I find myself there at least 3 or 4 times a week now. The yogurt is fabulous, and comes in an array of ever changing flavors, including Coconut, Peanut Butter, Red Velvet Cake, Cheesecake, Raspberry, etc. along with the standard Chocolate, Vanilla, Strawberry, Tart Vanilla, etc. You can mix and match them to your hearts content, and go as crazy as you want at the topping bar. Nothing is omitted from the topping station! Hot fudge, marshmallow, caramel, chocolate chips, nuts, fruit, toffee pieces, brownie bites, candy, berries, sprinkles, and anything your heart desires! I tried the salad bar for the first time today. Don't let the small size of everything fool you. There's a lot there, and the staff is constantly keeping everything wiped down, cleaned, and refilled. In all my visits, I have yet to see any gross spill-over on any of the counters. Plus, I noticed the salad bar ingredients are all kept VERY cold, which is great! Nothing limp or quesitonable in freshness here! I haven't tried the sandwich bar yet, but I definitely will. And yes, the color scheme is headache inducing, and you have to keep yourself from going nuts with the items or you may end up with a $10 yogurt and $20 salad! Just keep in mind it's by the ounce. (I even had them weigh my salad partially done today to see where I stood). They'll also give you a little paper cup to sample the yogurt as well, which is great. I love It's Yo Good. Prices aren't bad. Cake batter yogurt is almost always available, and it's really delicious if you want something sweet. I load mine down with all kinds of toppings. I can never bring myself to eat a salad instead, so I can't tell you how that is. Service has always been excellent. Not sure what that other reviewer was talking about here... I've never walked in without every single one of them saying hello, asking how I am, etc. They always chat us up. The staff is awesome. We always spend about 7.50 for two people, but we also LOAD DOWN on the toppings, and most people seem to spend a little less. They also have a punch card that gets punched for every yogurt you buy, so if you eat a lot of yogurt, you'll get a little discount once and awhile (and we do). read more

I think most businesses, especially in this area, can be accurately judged by the ownership. When the owners are lazy and don't care, the food and service lack a great deal. I don't know the owners personally, but every time I've been there when they are there, they are possibly the nicest people I've met in Sonora. They deserve all the high praise they get for this place (and the new one off Sanguineti, which has been a bit of a death trap for the last couple restaurants - hopefully it works out for them!). The staff is always friendly and on top of cleanliness and ensuring the toppings, yogurt and food are all in order. I haven't tried the salad bar, but the yogurt is top notch and I tried the baked potato and found that really convenient and delicious. I try to somewhat restrict myself from getting in the habit of hitting up one of their shops for dessert any time I go out for dinner or shop in the area! I don't think my belt has any more notches ;) The only critique I would have is that they need true hot fudge pumps. I'm not a fan of the bottles in warm water. Also, more of a personal request, is I'd love them to add a few cereal options to the toppings bar - like fruity/cocoa pebbles. I had the most unique flavor - it was salted caramel popcorn. And it really fit the taste profile without being too overpowering. It was delicious! I've never come to a yogurt place and not gotten toppings, but it was so good by itself. My husband got a fruit sorbet that he quite enjoyed. The price was fine. The place was clean. I understand that this business is under new ownership, so I'm going to take a moment and teach the new owner how a business should operate. If you inform the public that your hours are going to be within a certain threshold then the public is going to have an expectation of what time they can visit your business for a service. If you're closing your store at 7 PM every weekend that you claim to be opened until 8 PM then you're not actually open until 8 PM. You're open until 7 PM. You cannot post your hours of operation online and then never adhere to them. If you need to close your business at 7 PM then close at 7 PM, but inform the public of that. Customers that check online for your closing time, and then drive to your location because they're told that you're open, are going to be very upset if you close an hour early almost every weekend. The mere idea of closing an hour early because "we're slow" does not save you any actual money. You save maybe 11 dollars in wage and the operation cost of electricity for that closed hour is minimal. I can tell you that just from my wallet alone you have lost 3 different purchases. This is the 3rd time that I've gone to this location because of the hours they post online and have walked into a locked door. Unfortunately for the new owner, it will be the last. I can recommend some good business courses so that you're better prepared for your next business. I don't like seeing any small business fail in this economy, but at least try to learn how to run it. read more
