It doesn't matter what flavor ice cream you get! It's good and you will love it! They are all good and the selection changes frequently, which means you can come often. This is also way more than an ice cream parlor, this is a piece of history and a repertoire theater. You can walk through old town Columbia and enjoy your ice cream as you experience history. The store also has old time candy and other delicious treats. They have inside seating as well. There is plenty of safe and free parking in several lots as well as street parking. The entire family can and will love this place and will enjoy coming back over and over.

The staff took care of us efficiently and quickly as we came in with a large group of exchange students. Ice cream was great. I had the huckleberry and it was delicious. There is a theater with live performances attached, and we bought tickets to see "Clue" This Friday night. Can't wait!

Selection of your usual favorites plus sherbets and our personal favorite, Huckleberry. All available in cup, cone, shake or sundae form. They also offer full espresso based offerings if you need a latte to energize your Gold Rush town explorations or as part of your pre show treat if you're here to see a musical. Staff is friendly and professional and patient, even in the face of long weekend lines or indecisive customers.

Gotta love this spot. I'm thankful there's ice cream in this little tourist spot in Columbia. It's always the perfect temp inside - freezing! It's a lovely escape from the summer heat. I love taking my family there when they visit from the Bay Area. They offer about 20 different flavors of ice cream, sundaes, floats, malts, etc. There was only one guy working on a holiday weekend and I felt bad for him, but he handled the busy-ness very well. There was a line to the door, but he kept it moving as fast as he could all by himself! Management should staff up on holiday weekends, because the poor guy was scooping non-stop! Perfectly sized scoops and sundaes in a great location.

This was one of my favorite little places in Columbia. They have old fashioned ice cream sodas, like with flavored soda water. My grandmav used to rave about real "chocolate sodas" and this place has them. It's also one of the few places in town that stays open late, until 7pm. We all had floats, and even the coke is served in glass bottles. Lots of tables and bar stools. The gentleman serving us was super friendly.

This is a cute little ice cream parlor located in historic Columbia State Park. They have about 16 different ice cream flavors with three types of cones you can choose from. They have pictures from back in the day as well as an old piano. Attached to the ice cream parlor is a theater where they hold plays.

Old town ice cream parlor located inside the Columbia State Park, a perfect treat on those warm sunny days when visiting here. Very old school parlor that serves ice cream and sundaes! The ice cream is pretty good here and it comes from San Luis Obispo, or Santa Barbara, I forgot which one, but it was listed in the store. The customer service could have been more attentive, the guy working there wasn't too engaging or personable. But overall, still got the job done.

This place rules! Kind customer service, quality ingredients, good prices, lovely atmosphere... And delicious! Can't wait to try more of their ice cream and espresso options on my next trip to Columbia. Pictured: A sweet and refreshing Blackberry Ice Cream Soda with Monin syrup and Boylan seltzer water

*Located in historic Columbia State Park* There are a couple of ice cream joints in town and I think this one gets overlooked but it shouldn't. It's located in a big roomy space. The guy is wearing nice old fashioned period attire. For 50cents more u can have a waffle cone and they offer you generous scoops of delicious ice cream. If you wander off the Main Street and find yourself here, stop in for a scoop or two.

What can I say about an employee who will reopen his ice cream parlor so I can get my thin mint fixing.

From the sign hanging out front, to the decor inside, and even the clothing the staff was wearing, the theme was evident. I hadn't visited Columbia since I was on a field trip in elementary school so when I got the opportunity to visit again, I was all about it. The first thing I needed before exploring was a coffee, because let's be honest, I was hungover. Brown's came to my rescue and put the extra pep in my step that I needed. I ordered a vanilla oatmilk latte and it was creamy and delicious. The gentleman barista of the day was very friendly and answered all the questions I had. One of them being, pecan milk?! I'm a vegetarian so I'm here for the alternative milk options, but that was one I had never heard of before. Pretty cool to see it. I have to imagine if you live in the area you know about this place and have likely been here before, so I'm primarily speaking to those that come from out of town... come visit Brown's. If not for a coffee, than one of their other offerings like ice cream, a baked good, sandwich, or even things like honey to take home with you.

What stands out immediately is how kind and welcoming the owners are. This is truly a family-run shop, and you can feel the intention behind everything they do. They aren't just stocking shelves, they are thoughtfully sourcing items they would confidently choose for their own family and children. That level of care is rare. We bought a hoodie, hat, and t-shirt for my daughter's birthday, and she has been wearing them every single day since. The quality is incredible! I mean really. These are not cheaply made pieces. You can feel the difference right away in the fabric, the fit, and the durability. What makes this place even more special is the heart behind it. It's not just about business. It is about people. They genuinely care about the families who walk through their doors and he went out of his way to offer products that reflect that. They do not jack up the prices but the quality is better than an REI or Sax 5th Avenue. I know good quality and these items are made very well.
