Overall Experience: 3/5 Food: 3/5…read moreService: 4/5 Value: 3/5 Atmosphere: 2.5/5 As a long-standing customer since the old location days, I've visited the new Morrison's enough times to give a fair assessment. While the new space is much larger with plenty of booths and tables, bigger doesn't mean better--it lacks the cozy nostalgia of the original spot and feels a bit hollow despite the TVs and updated decor. Baked Chicken: Very tender with solid, decent flavor. Sides: Piping hot, safe, and standard. I was lucky to catch fresh sides straight out of the pan heaters. Unfortunately one of the wings wasn't fully prepped as there were feathers. Expect to spend around $50+ for two dinners. It's on the expensive side, but you get generous portions and save a lot of time when you're craving quick soul food classics. It's a quick, straightforward cafeteria-style setup--point to what you want, get plated, pay, and go. The line servers and cashier were friendly and efficient. Solid, reliable soul food for a quick carryout meal. There's definitely room for improvement in recreating the warmth of the original location, but it's worth stopping by to try for yourself.

We got it off too good to go so we didn't get to choose the surprise bag, but, as the gentlemen's who plated up our food said, we will most DEFINITELY be back. It smelled delicious in there. Black woman owned and we are happy to give them our business. The reviews on Yelp are exactly why it's hard to trust y'all! Hahaha give it a chance, you won't regret it

SPECTACULAR EXPERIENCE - BRONZEVILLE SOUL IN CHICAGO!!…read more Bronzeville Soul Food in Chicago is absolutely AMAZING! I ordered the salmon, macaroni and cheese, yams, and fried green tomatoes, and everything was spectacular! The food was seasoned so well, and you could truly taste the love that went into preparing the meal. Everything was delicious and flavorful! The restaurant was very clean, and the staff were friendly, welcoming, and professional. I also really appreciated the free beverage they generously gave my sister and me. That thoughtful gesture made an already wonderful dining experience even more special. I highly recommend Bronzeville Soul Food to anyone who loves delicious soul food, great service, and genuine hospitality. We will definitely be back!

I came here with some of my trainees after a field trip to the Science and Industry museum. There were 12 adults and we spent about $300, which wasn't bad considering your meal comes with two sides and cornbread. I ordered the baked turkey wings with collard greens and white rice. It was so delicious! I couldn't eat it all because the portions were huge! A lot of my trainees needed to-go bags because it was so much food in those containers. The peach cobbler is amazing too! Not too peachy and not too much breading--a perfect combination. The chef was grateful for us coming in and talked to us too! The host was a sweet man and hooked some of my trainees with some sweet tea on the house. Just beautiful people bringing delicious food to Bronzeville.

A friend recently sent a post to me from Instagram of a man who came to King's Soul Food Gallery…read moreand got hooked on the pancakes. That post piqued my interest and my appetite. That, of course, meant I had to see if the hype was real. THE HYPE IS REAL. I went early for breakfast. I ordered biscuits with sausage gravy, eggs scrambled with cheddar, and potatoes. On the side, I ordered two pancakes. Everything is cooked to order, which is always plus because you aren't getting something reheated or microwaved. The quality of the food is also an indicator because you can tell by texture and temperature throughout what is on the plate. The cook came to the table to get confirmation of how I wanted my food plated. I gathered that some people are picky about their food touching, so he wanted to know if I was okay that the gravy may touch my eggs and potatoes. Servers, cooks, and chefs usually never confer with diners to inquire about peeves like food touching, so it was a bonus as service goes. On to the pancakes, you really don't need syrup. The pancakes are butter and lightly sweetened. For anyone who has had Johnny cakes, the pancakes are reminiscent of those but without cornmeal. The other thing about the pancakes was that they held heat instead of getting cold immediately. Some people may rattle off how some other place or how their own pancakes are the best in the world. Be that as it may, the pancakes that I had at King's Soul Food Gallery were the best that "I" have had. I will have to make my way back to sample their lunch. There is some fried catfish, collard greens, and sweet potatoes that I want to try. THE HYPE IS REAL.

Passed by this spot while on my way to visit family in the area. Decided to stop in later. Got…read morethere about half an hour after they opened. Placed two orders. One was baked catfish with macaroni and cheese and cabbage. Fish was cajun, which the New Orleans in me liked. The macaroni and cheese was probably the first batch from the kitchen, so it was good. The cabbage was my favorite and I have a feeling that it may be because they were cooked with onions. I ate this onsite at the outdoor patio while they prepared my second order for takeaway. The second order was fried catfish, spaghetti, and mustards/turnips mix. Catfish had a bit of a Louisiana fry taste to the batter. Yep, I approved. The spaghetti was a good side and I enjoyed the greens with the corn muffin crumbled in it. Good thing I ate this when I got home because nothing like some hot sauce on the fish to kick it up a notch. Jamison's is a walk-up. When it's nice outside, sitting on the patio is a good option. I have a feeling it may get busy as the day progresses. I recommend getting there early. If I'm in the area and it's early, I'll stop by again.
