Horse Drawn offers an impressive variety of seasonal vegetables as well as meats (frozen) and, when you get lucky, eggs. Everything they sell is absolutely first rate. Much to their credit they work on the honor system. Prices are clearly marked. You take what you want from the display cases or freezers. Weigh your produce on the scale. Record the amounts on the clipboard. Add it up on their calculator. Pay by cash or check. We first encountered them years ago at Lopez Island's Saturday farmers market. Since then whenever we're on the island we frequent their farm stand. When you consider that they plow their fields using non-fossil-fuel-powered farming methods -- teams of actual plow horses, as their name suggests -- you feel genuinely happy purchasing and consuming their food. They're part of what makes Lopez Island a wonderful place to visit.

Beekeeper was a latte with white chocolate powder and honey, great pairings for a relatively straightforward drink. It was nicely hot but not burning hot, perfect for the cooler morning. The golden milk latte has tumeric and is also pretty refreshing. Prices are on par with other coffee shops in the area like Isabel's but a tad bit cheaper since we got both drinks at a larger cup (16oz). I'd wish if they provided prices of the specialty drinks, so we can decide how much coffee we want to get to start our day here.

The bakery is fantastic so is the deli we love the ice cold beers in the beer cave! It's very obvious the owners of the market very competitive to the mainland prices or even better at times, but obviously their items that are going to be more due to the transportation cost of getting things here. The market is large and offers just about everything a grocery store could carry, including both indoor and outdoor machines for refills on spring water (a must on the island, particularly if you make your own coffee). Most impressive is the staff in the meat and fish department. They men and women working there always seem willing to answer questions about stock and are even happy to offer advice about preparing the day's fresh seafood. We've also been pleased with the entire staff. They're available and can point you to the right aisle when you're in a rush. The store can get busy, and when only a couple of checkout lines are open there's sometimes a good wait, but remember this is island time.
