Ambiance is nice - but service was way off, slow and food was mediocre. Our waitress messed up 3x and nothing was docked from our bill, just an apology. You have to pay for bread, which is strange for an Italian restaurant but oh well, and the extra dips (which is understandable), but she forgot the dips and we had to ask for them again. Then asked for just another loaf but she then brought out more dips so we were charged for that as well. I ordered a salad with my meal, and it never came. We tried to order a to-go meal and our bill came without it on there because she forgot. We told her to not bring out the salad or to-go order, and she just said okay and apologized. She was very nice but you would think after 3 mistakes that something would have been done to make us want to come back. The food was okay - mine came out warm and my sister's came out scolding hot (we got the lemon chicken pasta). My dad ordered a fish dish, and he said it was very bland so he didn't eat much of it, and ended up making dinner at home. The presentation of the dishes weren't there either. Just very plain and kind of slopped on the plate. We did not get dessert but the table next to us did and it looked good. Giving it a 2/5 because of the service and entree meals. The idea of the restaurant is there it just needs to be carried through. Would give it one more try for apps and dessert. read more

The restaurant is small. We were seated in an area in the back with one other table. It was quiet but there was an echo so it was difficult to hear the server. We asked for clarification on a few things and she copped an attitude. The menu is very limited and they don't like substitutions so just order as it's listed. I had a lunch here with coworkers for the Christmas holiday and out of the 5 of us, only one person had been before. We ordered the calamari for an appetizer, and 2 orders was an appropriate amount for the 5 of us - it was lightly breaded and tasted good, though I wish the pieces had been bigger, most were more like chopped bits. A couple of folks had the Caesar salad, which they liked, and I had the Caprino E Fichi. The Caprino E Fichi salad was delicious. For the main course I had the cacio y pepe with chicken added and it was good, not great. I've had better. This one was campanelle pasta. My coworkers had the spaghetti meatballs and the spaghetti carbonara with shrimp. All said they liked their meals. We then moved on to coffee and dessert. The coffee was sipped black and it was mentioned that it was very good. My tiramisu was good, and we also had the cheesecake, cannolis, and the Budino di Cioccolato. My wife and I ordered the Halibut and Chicken Piccata. Both dishes were came to the table like something you would see in a food magazine. Beautiful! The taste matched the appearance. The food was so delicious. The seating was comfortable and the overall feel of the restaurant was lively but not overly busy. We will definitely return to try some other dishes. Pretty good spot but not great as per the price. The wine list is decent and the pasta is cooked fairly well as far as what you'll find in Lexington (though Pasta Garage is fairly close in quality and much cheaper). The ambiance is a bit lackluster and it was very loud on a regular Thursday evening, to the point that it was difficult to hear our waiter. It does not feel like a cozy evening out the way anything attempting to be Italian should. The space is too open, echoey, and invites too much stimulation. Bella Note may not be quite on par food wise but the ambiance is much more comfortable. Giuseppe's has really gone down hill lately but their 80's cozy look is quite charming. Overall Paisano's remains my favorite spot for Italian in Lexington: campy and unpretentious in the best possible ways. read more

I took my family here for dinner. I'm not sure it's the best place for family dining but my daughters were very excited to go to such and "adulty" restaurant. Second time dining in at italx and it has quickly become my new favorite local Italian. This would be my second time ordered all these appetizers and bread and I have to say the pizza is to die for. I could order three and be happy! (Be sure to ask for parm on the side for all your dishes) A friend and I shared the bow tie pasta entree and it was incredible. Service was excellent, everyone safely wearing masks if they weren't sat at a table. Prices were very reasonable. Cannolis were made in house (as well as everything else being scratch made). My only qualm is that I wish there was a non chocolate or coffee item offered on the dessert menu. I'm not a coffee or chocolate person and the three options for desserts were tiramisu, chocolate 3 ways and cannolis (filled with chocolate on a bed of chocolate). All three desserts have had raving reviews but personally I prefer something light and fruity or vanilla based :) Everything was fantastic and I'll keep coming back every time I want my Italian fix. read more

How lucky is Lexington, Ky? We get another Chef Johnathan Lundy restaurant hot spot with ItalX! Corto Lima we love so we had very high expectations upon arriving at ItalX. Our expectations were absolutely met! The ambiance is gorgeous! Upscale without being too stuffy. The evening we were there the floor to ceiling windows could be opened up to let the outside in which is additionally helpful with all the Covid concerns. Here I should mention the restaurant followed every rule to ensure our safety! The service was phenomenal and they opened 2 days ago! Our server was very well-versed in the menu and particularly gluten free ! I have celiac disease and the gluten free items were pointed out to me. I did get to eat a bread item, Farinata, that is gluten free and it was amazing! I really didn't share it with my husband! I never get to eat bread at a restaurant so this was very special for me! The wine by the bottle is very well-priced! A very nice wine list! For my entree that was gluten free I had Pollo Arrostito-so much flavor! Wonderful! My husband had Pappardelle ai Funghi and he loved it- a perfect size serving! He saved room for the Ricotta doughnuts! Everything was a great experience from booking the reservation, meeting the hostess, engaging with our server and the food! All safely within Covid guidelines! Food was very good here. Stopped in later on a Sunday night in August and there was a good crowd. Service was very friendly. Nice wine selection heavy on Italian as you might imagine. For food started with a salad that came with toasted chick peas. Some of the chick peas were too hard, almost like little stones. Rest of the ingredients were good including goat cheese. They serve a great bread - very delicate and crunchy with chunks of garlic and tomato baked into the bread; olive oil and balsamic dip as well. Main was a Cacio e Pepe pasta in a nice butter sauce. We had reservations but still ended up waiting about ten minutes for our table after our reservation time but were offered a drink at the bar while we waited. Our server was polite but not very friendly or keen to make recommendations with wine or dinner. We had the meatball appetizer, gemelli Bolognese, and the tiramisu. The meatballs were good but definitely not the best I've had in Lexington (cough cough Bella Notte). Portion sizes seemed appropriate and the handmade pasta was fresh and delicious. Holy cow this place is a pasta lovers heaven. This place is fantastic. The pasta dishes are flavorful and the portions are big. The appetizers are delicious along with the desserts. Their wine and cocktail list is an extensive selection of delicious flavors and kinds of drinks. The restaurant is classy, with low lighting and tables around the edges of the restaurant set up next to a big glass window that wraps around the restaurant. The service I have always received has been nothing short of excellent. Italx is my go-to spot for a nicer, delicious dinner. Can not recommend Italx enough! This restaurant is such a great addition to down town Lexington. The food is exceptional and their house made pasta is EVERYTHING. The wine selection is specific to Italian varieties and have a wide offering. A sophisticated ambience perfect for any special evening or date night. My husband and I decided to try Italex on a Friday night for his birthday celebration. What a great choice! We called late afternoon for reservations and had the option of either 5:15 or 8:45. We chose the 8:45 and received excellent service and wonderful food. The restaurant was definitely busy and a tad loud but not obnoxiously so. A hidden gem in the heart of downtown! We presented late, just looking to have a nightcap and some appetizers, and ended up enjoying an amazing luxury meal with a swank, metro experience. The ambience is modern & polished, with an elegant fine dining appeal. Despite the posh interior however, an exquisite menu, extensive wine list, and upscale atmosphere, the prices were incredibly cheap for the overall quality and could easily be doubled and still be completely affordable. The veggie board was superb, and the meatball dish was hearty & filling. Everything was not only delicious, but beautifully presented and served quickly. The manager visited our table and was polite & professional. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the street-side view of the old courthouse added to the charm. We will definitely return for a more formal full-meal experience. We skipped a table for Ruby's and Tonys to try this new restaurant in Lexington. Pork Milanese very blank and undercooked to the point where it was borderline raw. Randy. first of all, what a guy! never been to ItalX before and i must say what an experience. the decor is amazing, a little noisy but very manageable, i had the veal which was absolutely delectable, but for apps we had the calamari and the pizza which got decimated minutes after arriving to the table, the drinks were supurb (i recommend the esspresso martini), tiramisu for desert which was insane! The ambience was very cute and comfortable as always. I sat on the couch booth side of our table as we went to celebrate my friend's 24th birthday. Perfect place for a girl's night out! I got the Strozzapreti al Limone pasta which was SO delicious. It has roasted chicken, broccolini, lemon, evoo, reggiano, and they even added some chopped asparagus into my dish which was a pleasant surprise not listed on the menu. Our waiter was pretty decent besides not being very attentive to refilling drinks and initially getting our wine orders. Other than that the experience was great and we will definitely be back! I never write reviews on restaurants, but after my fifth time being underwhelmed at Italx, I thought I would share. It is often a place that my friends suggest because of the aesthetics and downtown vibes, but I am disappointed with my entrees every time that I have eaten there. I have tried five entrees: lobster ravioli, carbonara, spaghetti & meatballs, chicken piccata, and their zucca malfatti. Each dish costs around $23 and is always very bland. Also, the food comes out so quick, dinner often feels rushed. Our appetizers came out before we were able to order our entrees. The first time I went, we were in and out the door in 35 minutes. I think it is a very expensive restaurant that relies on the location to get business. I think there are multiple better Italian restaurants in and around Lexington. read more
