I used to be a customer from italkbb, using their phone number for so long. As long as I have been trying to cancel the service from them. They are easy to get in, but so freaking difficult to get out. The linksys box that I used and brought with me in China. They said if I don't ship it back they are going to charge 99$ for it. I told them i will bring the box personally to their office in Vancouver when I go back. They say they can put my account on hold with reduced monthly charges from $11 to $3 and no further action is needed. I have been using this company for more than 10 years. I have their home phone unlimited international plan. In general the quality of calls is good, if not great. Occasionally the linked cell phone had issues but usually were resolved quickly. However, I decided to cancel the service. Without realizing the 2 year contract expiring, I used my cell to make international calls (I got 500 mins free every month with the plan) I got unexpected charge, I called them up and they told me why without any offer to waive the extra charge. We are paying 30$ for the plan including taxes, and we don't really need a home phone and international calls are cheap nowadays. The unexpected charge happened every time a plan expired, they charged me for this and that like setting up a trap. I really hate the unexpected payment and they blamed customers not checking emails， which looks like a regular email they sent every month. I was offered a better plan when I called to cancel, but too late! If I am not a valued customer, why should I stay, with the amount I paid I can certainly have many other options. You do business with integrity, not setting traps like, you have to return the device by MAIL within 15 days, otherwise will have a 60$ charge! Whenever you cancel the TV or home phone service, they will charge you a $60 fee. Doesn't matter if you had returned their equipment via mail, having paid it yourself. Even after sending proof of tracking number showing delivery received, customer service insists that they did not receive the equipment. After multiple emails still nothing is resolved. For phone service: horrible signal, missed/dropped calls, texts received hours after being sent. Edit: after posting the review, customer service reached out and several emails later, they finally had the problem resolved. Added two stars for that. First, it took forever to get the representative to cancel it, what can I say, well trained by this company. Then it came the worst part, I mailed the device back through USPS according to their instruction. I checked up online, was delivered within 7 days. They claimed that if not receiving the device within 15 days will charge for $59.99. After a month, it showed up on my credit card as a charge. I called asking why, they said they didn't receive my package.. I recommended them to double check and I also made an inquiry to USPS. USPS contacted me and informed they delivered the package to the company and USPS representative in local office said "they always get lots of packages". I can tell this company's process is a mess. I called again and they said, found part of the device. It's unbelievable because I mailed everything in one USPS package. I called the third time to ask when they can find the rest and they claimed they are still looking. After a whole month, still looking.. UNBELIEVABLE. RUN!! Don't subscribe!! They use strongarm tactics and deceptive marketing that we haven't seen in the US since the 1990's! My daughter was travelling long term in China, so we thought the American and Chinese dual SIM cards would be handy -- NOT!! The salesman assured us that we could cancel at any time, but did point out that the Chinese SIM was prepaid for one year and not refundable. At $36 per year, I wasn't worried. The combo Telephone + China SIM + US SIM was actually cheaper than just a US SIM, so we took that and put away the phone box (who has a landline anymore?). A few months in we found that the service was not reliable in China. My daughter then got a local service that was WAY better and worked all over Asia -- for a fraction of the cost! We called to cancel and were quoted a cancellation fee that was longer than just keeping it till the end of our contract that supposedly could be cancelled at any time (yeah - for a substantial fee!). Well - at $20 a month we decided to just keep it until July. I moved the US phone number to Google Fi. Later when we called to cancel, iTalkBB told us that no further action was needed, because the China service had ended and the US cancelled when we moved the phone number. iTalkBB continued to charge my card. I have filed notices with the issuer every time and finally filed fraud charges. I may have to close my account and issue a new one. Then they called on a Sunday evening to ask why I was declining charges. After arguing with them for an hour (they were clearly trying to tire me out and get me to pay out of fatigue), they said they would agree to cancel for $200. I told them I would file complaints in the morning with the FCC, CFPB, and FTC, instead. They then agreed to close the account if I would return the telephone box. I agreed and pulled it from storage. They assured me that I'd have an email with instructions in the morning -- several days later and no email! Granted - they are a Chinese company, but they heard me answer in English and tried to bully me by insisting that they could only communicate in Chinese. Too BAD!! I'm fluent in Mandarin Chinese and so is my wife, so we bullied them right back. The moral of the story is DO NOT TRUST ANYTHING from this company!! First, I had to pay $49.99/year for Renting the box, in addition to $10/mo for the phone service. I told them that I don't need the phone service, only the TV box for Chinese programs, then I was told that I would pay $15/mo if I don't use their phone service! Blood suckers! I had to keep the phone service even though the phone service has never been used. Fast forward, at the first day of the second year, I was charged another $49.99 for renting the TV box for the whole year. Within one month, I needed to cancel the TV service, since my mother had left for travel. I was told, not only do I need to pay another month of phone service which has never been used, but I won't get any refund of the $49.99 charge for the whole year, even though, I had only used it for less than a month. Additionally, I need to return the box to them within 15 days, or I'll be charged $75! This company is all about finding ways to charge you more fees, rather than providing good customer service, and a good customer experience. If iTalkBB does not receive the return package from you within fifteen (15) days after cancellation date, a Deactivation Fee of $59.99 will apply." Avoid this company at all cost, they are dishonest about their prices, have tons of hidden fees, charge annual fees whenever they want, and would make it impossible for you to cancel. My mom has been using iTalkBB for 10 years now mainly to watch chinese dramas, we were told that shows would get updated very frequently and all we need to pay is an annual fee and a small monthly fee. But as years go by, the box NEVER updated, we were stuck watching the same things over and over. The only way to update the box is physically replacing it by mailing it back to them with your own money (they also charge you for shipping without telling you). Having been a customer of this company for over 10 years, i've noticed that they charge the annual fee whenever they want, sometimes half and year, sometimes in a few months. And if you call to confront them about any mysterious charges they will argue their way out of it and claim that it's already been a year on their system or that you watched something on cable or even clicked something. We call at least once a year to try and cancel our plan with them but they would always tell us about all the things we'll be charged for if we were to cancel. This company is honestly an absolute nightmare. The agent eventually persuades my mom to upgrade her box instead of canceling since we would be charged over $100 not including shipping fees if we were to cancel. Initially my mom had no intention of wanting to upgrade her box since we were worried about receiving a used box due to the pandemic. The agent reassured us and told us that we will definitely receive a brand new box. But guess what, the only thing new about what we received today was the packaging of the box. The remote had all these white particles on the inside where you put batteries, the spring was extremely rusty on both sides, and the side of the box was bumpy, like it was dropped or smashed into corners multiple times. So of course we contact customer service and we were told that they ran out of new ones a few months ago so they're only mailing out old ones, which is completely different from what we were promised. The agent told us to mail it back to them with our own money and they'll send a CLEANER LOOKING box out and charge us for the shipping... My mom has spoken with the agents in iTalkBB on multiple occasions due to random extra charges and unstable annual fees, and let me tell you, the only time the agents speaks to you in a polite manner is when they call you over and over again early in the morning to upgrade to their new plan. read more

I have been using their SIM card for over two years. Had no problem with signals and I love their China-US SIM card a lot since it's so convenient for me to just switch the cards when I landed on China or America(depending on where I'm traveling to). Unless you plan on staying with this business for life, don't ever do business with them. They make it ridiculously difficult to change or alter service for any reasons. Ever see the "Comcast retention department horror stories"? Well this is the Chinese version of that. My mother switched to a Verizon FIOS package that had both Chinese TV and calling, so we decided to cancel the iTalkBB service. They gave her the runaround for hours, continuing to offer "promotional packages" and whatnot and giving random excuses as to why she couldn't cancel any part of that service. "Oh I can give you two free months of the TV." Okay, then we would just like to cancel the phone for now then. "Sorry but if you cancel the phone we can't give you the free TV promo or it's going to take away some other discount and now you end up paying more." Then when you ask to cancel everything they will give you even more runaround and try their damn hardest to not process your exact request. Their equipment return process is ridiculous as well. No box, return label, or dropoff location. You have to pay yourself to ship their stuff back to them. And the person on the phone was extremely specific about everything you have to return back. Including the 20 cent ethernet cable that the box came with. If you don't give them their ethernet cable back, then apparently they charge you a 70 dollar deactivation fee. I've also read their terms and conditions in cancellation and apparently they expect not only the original modems and boxes, but also the original cardboard box, plastic wrapping, and every manual and piece of paper that came with it. Extremely shady company, just do yourself a favor and steer clear - go with a company that respects United States consumer protection laws (although this is a bit of an oxymoron because most of them don't...)
