It's a beautiful wedding venue tucked among the mountains. The couple were attentive and did their best to serve us in a timely manner. It seems like they have a handful of guests at a time. The real highlight is the highland cow tours. Our guide was super knowledgeable and you can tell he has a really strong relationship with the cows. We loved being able to get up close and pet them. The wine itself was good. I think I preferred the Chardonnay and Rose. There was also great pizza being served by what seemed to be a local young man. The wood fire gave the pizza a great char. I would say the fig and balsamic was a little on the sweet side so I would recommend less honey/fig/sweet balsamic glaze.

Had lunch as well there and food was really good. There were 4 of us buying wine both reds and whites. Somehow our order got a bit mixed up and we accidentally got a case of red in place of white wine. I called office today and they went above and beyond to get that case of wine delivered to our home asap. Cannot beat that for service anywhere. Highly recommend making a trip for anyone who hasn't been there before. Beautiful grounds and wine tasting room. We're now big fans!

I was met with the most grumpy host ... no smiles no greetings and definitely no charm. I know Erika deserves so much better. Wish I knew her name... "she's been there forever ". From the linens to the décor, super luxurious accommodations set amongst acres of vineyards, each suite with it's own private deck overlooking Tuscany-style views in the heart of Amador wine country. Our host, Linda, made an incredible stay that much more homey. Each morning's breakfast was a feast, seated outside on the covered patio with stunning views. The meals were uber fresh (filling enough that we skipped lunch both days!). Every day around 5 you're treated to wine and cheese. Perfect location to wine taste on property or venture out to the growing number of top rated wineries. Walk amongst the vineyards or take out one the beach cruisers or trikes for a ride around. At night, the fire pits are a nice touch, or just lounge on you private deck for a sunset and a moonset. Looking forward to our return!

A food truck, wine (obviously) and a fun ice cream truck were there to keep the party going. The quality of the sound mix was great. Plenty of restrooms. Bring your own low back lawn chair. A very friendly place if you have mobility issues. Listening to great music while watching the sunset was so great. I can't wait to catch a live show next year. And....every Helwig staff member I ran into was helpful and pleasant.

Good wine, gorgeous views, and chill relaxed inviting vibes. First of all, Helwig is in the town of Plymouth which is about 25 miles from Folsom. It was my first visit here. Who knew that this wine country is so close to Sacramento?! Well now you do. The winery is perched on top of an elevated land that provides a spectacular view s of the Shenandoah Valley. Movie picture perfect views. My friends and I sat on the deck and soaked in all the gorgeousness. We also bought lunch from the Kitchen which is a walk up counter service and a bottle of wine from the tasting room. From the Kitchen, I ordered the southwest salad and added grilled chicken for an extra $5. The salad was uneventful. The chicken was a measly portion that was served in a small container that is the same size container that the salad dressing was served in. Where's the chicken?! The chicken also had no flavor. Bummer. But the Dave burger and side of Caesar salad looked so darn delicious. Folks in my group that ordered that, devoured theirs. Big, fat juicy burger. The onion rings was a hit for me, crisp golden fried beer batter sweet onion rings. Delicious. The audible crunch just made it more satisfying. The housemade kettle chips were thick, toothsome, and salty. Very flavorful. My glass of wine was so darn delicious. Light, crisp and smooth. Darn... I forgot the name of the wine. There is also a wine cave, folks can make reservations for tastings in the cave. The cave is below the amphitheater. The small amphitheater is aesthetically eye catching. It is literally like having your own campground without the annoying camp police guy driving around and giving you stink eye for getting a little too loud around the campfire. There are campsights away from the campfire so if you don't want to party all night, you can simply walk to your sight and call it a night. Or stay up with your FUN friends and family, party, karaoke, roast marshmallows, and enjoy the beautiful atmosphere. This is a unique place that words just can't do it justice. The castle itself is historic with some insanely horrific history to it. I'm not going to say much more it's a great experience. The castle does all different types of events throughout the year, they're most popular is the haunt during Halloween season or throughout October. I went one year it was pretty amazing. My family has gone a few times and loved it. Look forward to this year!! Get your tickets quick because it sells out fast.

Came here for the haunted house event about a week ago and I'm not sure if I would come back again…read more Tickets were $35 each (purchased online) and you have to park and walk about 10-15 minutes to the castle or you can take the little van that drives you there which also takes the same amount of time. We took the van to the castle but they don't drop you off directly in front of the castle so you still have to walk down through security and then to the castle. Porte potty's are available right before security and once you walk up the hill to wait in line to enter the castle. There were a couple food trucks when we went, we were expecting a few based on what was said online but not sure if it depends on the time. We waited over an hour in line to enter the haunted house and if you do really believe in ghosts this place is pretty haunted. The event itself wasn't scary, the actors aren't able to touch you but there's obviously loud screaming and they may be a bit too close for comfort to get a reaction out of you. You do have to climb up and down quite a few stairs and then there's a second part lead outside and back in the castle (barely any lighting and it's a dirt road so you have to carefully walk). Many strobing lights as well so do avoid if you are triggered by that. The energy throughout the castle was not pleasant or welcoming, I was very excited for it to be over as the haunted house itself was not very good and I was mostly tired from all the walking. There's a merch truck outside at the end of the castle as well. We also decided to walk back instead of waiting for the shuttle but there absolutely no lighting and many ditches with uneven flooring so you have to be very careful. Overall experience was not my favorite and I wouldn't come back again.
