From the linens to the décor, super luxurious accommodations set amongst acres of vineyards, each suite with it's own private deck overlooking Tuscany-style views in the heart of Amador wine country. Our host, Linda, made an incredible stay that much more homey. Each morning's breakfast was a feast, seated outside on the covered patio with stunning views. The meals were uber fresh (filling enough that we skipped lunch both days!). Every day around 5 you're treated to wine and cheese. Perfect location to wine taste on property or venture out to the growing number of top rated wineries. Walk amongst the vineyards or take out one the beach cruisers or trikes for a ride around. At night, the fire pits are a nice touch, or just lounge on you private deck for a sunset and a moonset. Looking forward to our return!

Our suite (one of five) was absolutely stunning. The Innkeeper (the first of three amazing Innkeepers) had the gas fireplace lit, and wonderful instrumental music playing, as she showed us our suite. The food was phenomenal: gourmet breakfasts, 5:00 wine and cheese, and homemade cookies in the evening. My favorite part was the patio with a fire pit overlooking the vineyard. The real highlight is the highland cow tours. Our guide was super knowledgeable and you can tell he has a really strong relationship with the cows. We loved being able to get up close and pet them. The wine itself was good. I think I preferred the Chardonnay and Rose. There was also great pizza being served by what seemed to be a local young man. The wood fire gave the pizza a great char. I would say the fig and balsamic was a little on the sweet side so I would recommend less honey/fig/sweet balsamic glaze.

Had lunch as well there and food was really good. There were 4 of us buying wine both reds and whites. Somehow our order got a bit mixed up and we accidentally got a case of red in place of white wine. I called office today and they went above and beyond to get that case of wine delivered to our home asap. Cannot beat that for service anywhere. It's a cute little winery with small indoor seating but plenty of outdoor seating and a deck. The inside is cute and cozy inside. The wine tasting is $15 it is waived with wine purchase. We tried several different wines and my favorites it's the Rose, Rafiki and the Jamba. I did at the end I did end up getting the up getting the Rose, it is so refreshing. We brought our own food for a picnic with friends and they do have upcoming events. I've never had Kenyan food so I plan on trying it at their event in August. If you haven't been to Mellowood vineyards you are definitely missing out on some delicate wines.

Volcano, so far, has been the smallest venue I've walked into. I love it! It's waaaaaay off Broadway, historic and there's not a bad seat in the house! It's one of the little gems in the Gold Country. Last month I was lucky to attend and watch a special showing for our group at the historic Cobblestone Theatre. We met some of the Board of Director members and we listened and heard the enthusiasm from their stories as each shared a little about the theatre. I can't recall the others who spoke but can remember Bob, the Business Manager. VTC has been performing live theatrical productions since 1974. The Cobblestone Theatre was built in 1856. I believe there are only 50 seats in the house and they do fill up. During our visit we watched, or rather listened to, "Voices" as five women shared their life stories... each a separate experience and yet not alone. We would love to experience more productions here and watch local talent when we come back, perhaps in the summer, at their outdoor theater where I understand the venue is much bigger and can hold a lot more people.
