Dead bugs (crickets? cockroaches? who knows)

We came into this experience hoping we would find an affordable caterer for our upcoming wedding. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this establishment to anyone for a meal, and would certainly not want to trust them for a momentous occasion. My fiancé had used Italian Express as a caterer at his work pre-pandemic and remembered the food tasting great, being affordable for 300 people, and having no issues with delivery. We saw a catering menu on their website but it was dated 2018, so we wanted to go in to see if they had updated their offerings and grab lunch while we're there to see which dishes we may want to have. We walk in and are immediately hit with a gust of hot air; it's much hotter and more humid inside than outside, and it's in the mid-90s today. I walked up to the counter and asked to see a catering menu. The cashier looked really confused and grabbed a regular menu and looked at each page as if he had no idea if they catered or not (not a great sign), and then found the area that described their catering offerings. It was significantly more expensive than the posted catering prices online, but okay, I know it's been several years so I would expect the prices would go up. I'm still open to considering them at this point. We ordered a chicken fettuccine alfredo and ravioli and went to go wait in the car; even staying outside in the sun would have been more pleasant. We went back in and got our food and left. As soon as I opened the top to the alfredo dish, an off smell hit my nostrils; even my fiancé noticed immediately, and he doesn't have a great sense of smell. I was hesitant but wondering if it was just that they used an unexpected seasoning blend or something. I should not have given them the benefit of the doubt. I had a small taste of sauce and immediately recoiled. It tasted just like spoiled milk, and the sauce coated the entire dish, so it was completely inedible. I ended up returning and giving it back to them, asking for a refund. They were surprised and said they used milk that wasn't expired, but I know from personal experience that just because it hasn't passed the date, doesn't mean it hasn't gone off early for any number of reasons. I asked him to smell it but he said he wasn't able to smell right now because he had a cold...makes sense, because if he could have smelled the food he prepared, there's no way he would have sent it out the door. To add insult to injury, my fiancé snapped this pic of dead bugs in the entryway. They probably died of the heat (or that alfredo sauce). Ultimately, I'd say they earned the one star in my review because the ravioli was alright and they ended up refunding us for the alfredo. But this restaurant gave me enough reasons to not want to come here for a single meal again, let alone to give them $1,000+ worth of business for catering.

a pizza in a pizza box

This is a good place if you want to try different kind of pizza. I ordered a large pizza with half side of paneer tikka and half side of tandoori chicken. Both sides were delicious and the topping were in good quantity. Definitely visiting again.

So I had heard this place sells chicken ticka pizza and I just had to try it out. I was already in the area so I was like why not? I should've called ahead and ordered but I wanted to see what other options they had available at their store. I got there and I realized it's not a place where you can sit and eat. You have to take your food to go. I believe they also deliver? So I decided to get the large chicken ticka pizza to go. It looked amazing so I was excited to try it out. Unfortunately when I did try it, it didn't meet my expectations. They added so many toppings that you can barley taste the chicken ticka favor. Also I don't get why they're were olives on it. That's such a weird combination. Maybe if it had less toppings and more of the ticka flavor it would have tasted better. I wonder if you can ask them to not add the toppings? But it's just average pizza. Nothing to fancy. And I don't think a large is worth $16. Just check out Pizza Hut if you're looking for average, decently priced pizza.

Italian Express was referred by a friend as a great place to get Indian pizza. So we hit it. Its a takeout /delivery only place which is the only bad thing about this place as I love to have my pizzas fresh. The Tandoori Paneer tikka pizza and Garden Veggie Pizza are wonderful. Thing crust. Well done. Perfect balance of flavor. We've ordered large orders for parties too. Highly recommended!

Staying in town at the Wingate by the airport for the night and wanted something to eat. I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp which came with garlic cheese bread and a side salad. I'm very impressed with how quick everything showed up. Everything is hot and delicious. The Alfredo sauce tastes homemade. It was way worth the price. Yum!

Not a lot to choose from From the wingate by Wyndham at Irving tx so I called for delivery And order 8 buffalo wings A small chicken Alfredo pizza And two bottles of water Total was 22.00 The DELIVERY came in 3MIN after I place the call Great timing. I was expecting them to take at least one hour. I Really really liked the pizza. The wings were just ok they weren't fried so not my favorite. But overall everything was really good. I gave it a 5 bc of their great customer service trough the phone and also the delivery guy.

I've never been to the restaurant myself before, but I had it when it was delivered to a relative's house. I've been craving it since then! The Paneer Tikka pizza was fresh and a surprisingly well-made Indian and Italian fusion pizza. The sauce was tasty, and the paneer cubes were the perfect size. The crust was thin, but maybe could be a little more crispy. Though I cannot speak to the customer service or the restaurant, I do know that I want to have this pizza again!

    Italiano Supreme and Caeser Salad

We got a menu on our door and since we haven't found any non-chain pizza places that deliver, we decided to give it a try. There were great coupons in the menu, so we ordered the family meal. An appetizer, large gourmet pizza, large Caesar salad and two desserts. Everything was delicious. The mozzarella sticks weren't very crispy, but that was probably from having them delivered. They were very tasty, though. The salad was very big, plenty for 3-4 people. The desserts were good, we got the NY and Turtle cheesecakes. But, the pizza was the star of night. We chose the Italiano Supreme. It. Was. Awesome. The perfect amount of sauce, cheese, and toppings. And the crust was really, really tasty. Within the first few bites, this quickly became our favorite new place. And after reading the other reviews, we can't wait to order again, and try something new!

Great pizza and wings. The white pizza that has ricotta and mixed garlic is the best!!!! And the wings are really good.

I've never had anything that wasn't perfectly prepared, flavorful, and served the correct temperature. And that's what really matters in a restaurant, of course. But the vibe is odd. I can't put my finger on it. It's "clique-y". Every time I come, I walk into an empty restaurant with no host. And it seems I've walked in before they opened. They have lots of private events which are walled off with weird partitions. And they sometimes (according to others I overheard) completely close down for private parties. I don't ask for much. I require very little attention. I grossly over tip. And, yet still I feel very unwelcome in this restaurant that I have frequented several times. I don't get it. The other customers were very nice to me, but the staff seemed annoyed by my presence. It's bizarre. Anyway, the food alone earns them a top rating. Pro tip: Do NOT sit at the bar. They don't tell you this: but it's for the regulars. You'll feel like you've wandered into a party you weren't invited to. AND.....order the Prince Edward Island mussels!

She asked reservation - we do not have any reservations. Again, I stated that I have a reservation with a confirmation and reminders. She said you do? I stated yes, let's not go there and please fix it. I showed her the confirmation. They pushed tables together and we were seated. As we seated, she stated she would get us some rolls. We saw a smaller party, seated after us, receive rolls. We were eating, I asked for some rolls. She stated they are cooking some, they did not have any reservations, and did not plan for many people (like Mother's Day). I reminded that WE had a reservation. We finally received the rolls, closer to the end of our meals. During our eating, I asked her for more napkins - she responded - MORE NAPKINS - I put extras on the tables? I stated we used them (adults, children and a toddler) - we needed napkins. No cool. My son and daughter in love - waited long for their pizza (we all had our meals). She finally brought a pizza to the table and advised that the wrong pizza was cooked. (She did say they could eat that pizza (at no charge), since they have been waiting so long. Before the correct pizza arrived, she did ask if they wanted to box it up (we were all packaged up). So they did take it to go. I asked for two cups of sweet tea to go - she said you want two cups to go, I laughed and confirmed, "Yes, I am thirsty" the tea was very good! She then asked if one was for myself and my son (we both ordered tea (refills are included). We were going to get dessert, we decided, after this meal were not going to order any. After all, we didn't want to need more napkins. #1 - No apology for not having us on the reservation. #2 - She mentioned again we did not have any reservations and not prepared (when I asked for rolls). #3 - Why do we need more napkins - she had put extras on the table. #4 - Ask why I need two teas and who were they for? #5 - My daughter-in-law paid cash. She returned her change without removing the charge (which we had to ask what this fee was; she stated it was an automatic cc fee). My DIL said, "Oh, I have cash." Yet, she still charged the fee; she had to return the fee to my daughter in law. I will state that I budgeted a higher tip because we were a large party. I covered my 3 sons (the dads) and myself. However, I gave her 20% (with much regret). I just could not bring myself to reduce it. So disappointed. Food was good but that type of service!! 06.27.2026 - Finally, after sending *unanswered email, calling for owner(was told the owner would be in Friday and Sat. p.m.). Today, Jessica manager calls me back. She doesn't know their email addresses, said the owner controls the reservation. That they didn't have my reservation. Mind you I asked for the owner. She apologized - hoped we come back. Cassandra

If you are looking for a charming, "no-frills" spot for classic Italian-American comfort food, this is a very dependable option. The absolute highlight of our visit was the staff. The people here couldn't have been nicer! They were welcoming and extremely accommodating, especially when it came to customizing my order. Food: * House Salads: We started with the house salads featuring their homemade tomato vinaigrette. It was unique--it tasted like they might incorporate some of their tomato sauce into the dressing base. It was okay, though perhaps an acquired taste if you prefer a sharper vinaigrette. * Eggplant Parm & Custom Pasta: I ordered the Eggplant Parm and asked to swap the side pasta for angel hair with vodka sauce. They were happy to do it for a small upcharge. The eggplant itself was quite good! My only critique is that the sauce was very chunky (I like a smoother sauce) and the portion of it was a bit overwhelming, but that might just be a personal preference. * Fettuccine Alfredo: My husband went with the classic Alfredo. He described it as a "solid 7/10"--nothing was wrong with it at all, just a standard, reliable version of the dish that satisfied the craving. Final Thoughts Cafe Italia is a sweet little place that is a decent option if you're hungry for the classics and want to be treated like family. We're glad we finally checked it off our list!
