large plate for lunch! everything was delicious!

The flavors! The textures! The ingredients! So delicious and satisfying. Wonderful vibe and people there when I went to pick up the food.

Small combo. Don't forget the hot sauce

If you wanna get blessed, you know what's good. Drumsticks are fire too don't forget about those.

This is a takeout shop which is so yummy. It was recommended to me by multiple people. We had a business lunch at Centennial College and ordered from them for pick up. Everything was absolutely succulent. It is a vegan restaurant and they have figured out how to make the most yummy food. The rice and pea is fantastic. I also had the collard greens and some couscous. And then I had a spicy mock chicken. It was beautiful textured, and the flavour was really excellent. It came with a small amount of undressed salad. Which was perfect because there was so much flavour in the rest of the food. The service was quite fast as well. I will definitely go back there again.

Switched it up a while ago still neat

Still good still about 3-4 stars going to go back again to confirm that 4th star the food here is excellent

Mm I love this place. It's by the main road on pharmacy and has 4 parking spaces. If its full, you can park on the side of the road temporarily. The lady who served us was nice and told us how it works. Size: Small ($10) or Large ($15) 1. Base - rice, quinoa, and another option (they ran out, don't know what it's called) * Choose 1 but you can mix and match 2. Veggies - okra, curry cauliflower, chickpeas, cabbage, callaloo greens * Choose 2 3. Protein - BBQ, and chicken or drumstick? *Choose 1 4. Salad - arugula, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, alfalfa, mixed greens *Choose 3 Lastly, you'll be asked if you want hot sauce or not. We also ordered the shakes/smoothies. I like the taste of "healthy". It has a distinct taste. Although I know some ppl are not a fond of healthy tasting drinks/food. $7 per shake. Spirulina Shake reminds me of Vega protein shake. Maybe it is? It's thin in consistency. Irish Moss shake has a thicker consistency. Kinda reminds me of a healthy cookies and cream with a touch of hazelnut. We had 2 small orders and 1 shake each, totaling to $41. It is quite pricey with the drinks but if you order the dish only, it's a gem! Portions are HUGE! I can't finish the small size. Would def go back and I highly recommend this place. On a good note, it's also Vegan (which is a plus). If you want an affordable hearty meal without feeling guilty, this is the place to go to.

Food was fresh and affordable! I love the quinoa option and the fact that fresh veggies and chunks of seitan topped up the two veggies and one grain combo. Would totally recommend this place. Perfect place for VEGAN Jamaican takeout! Clerk/owner was super friendly as well! Love how full my container was! Definitely coming back, especially since it's just minutes away from an open grass area and trail, Ashtonbee Reservoir Park!

A Rastafarian place with two locations, one in Kensington and one in Scarborough! I visited the one in Scarborough on a hot day. It's a pretty small store with not much seating and no AC, but decorated so nicely. The food was delicious!!! They sell vegan food in small or large platters, different options for base and toppings. The food was so flavourful and each had their own unique taste. I shared a large with my friend and it was more than enough for the both of us with leftovers to take home. We also tried one of their juices which was really refreshing. The lemon raspberry cake was AMAZING. It's vegan and not dry at all! So much flavour! I would love to come back. It's nice to eat in but small so takeout would be a good option. If you live in Scarborough it's worth a visit!!!

I discovered this hidden gem thanks to Yelp! It's small and tucked away with limited seating. No frills, just honest, good food at a great price! The test of any vegan restaurant is whether or not an omnivore would eat there or if it's only catering to vegan people. I can happily say this place is for everyone, as there is so much variety and flavour, you will not miss not having meat. The portions are huge and the fresh juices are to die for on a hot summer day. I've enjoyed everything I've had here, especially the eggplant and okra dishes, as well as their famous BBQ tofu "ribs". This is a great place for healthy take out!

Tracy J.

The most amazing vegan cuisine I've ever tasted and I'm not a vegan. Seriously, who knew tofu could taste like that. EVERYTHING was outstanding. And super fresh. Ok you'll have to know that it's a hole in the wall type of eatery. Don't let that scare you. And the regulars all know how to order but they are happy to explain how it works so just ask what everything is. All the options are displayed and the menu changes daily. But the one thing everyone goes there for is the bbq mix. I was almost 100% certain it was actual meat but it is not. Whatever they do it it turns tofu into something absolutely incredible. They have desserts including non-dairy cheesecake and amazing cookies. Can't wait to come back. Went two days in a row on my 5 day trip to Toronto.

Clean and colourful store appearance.

3.5/5 After seeing Ital Vital at the Veggie Food Fest last weekend at Harbour Front, I thought I would stop by and check it out. First, the restaurant is a bit difficult to find and you will have to park on a side street most likely, so be prepared for that. After not seeing a menu online, I tried my luck and called to see if I could order takeout - but the restaurant is a choose your own, owner-served buffet style type - so ordering takeout is difficult, but not impossible if you know what you want. Ital Vital is very small but has a clean appearance and is very aromatic. There was a line when I went, and others around me said there is typically a line no matter what time you go. The wait time was about 8 minutes, but it passed by quickly. The pricing is $10 for a small plate and $15 for a large. The serving sizes are quite generous so take that into account when ordering. The service is also friendly and they take time to explain what side dish is what. Everything at this restaurant is vegetarian, which I absolutely love! When I got home, although the drive was quite a distance, the food was still hot and fresh. The food tastes great and has very unique flavours. The soy BBQ "steak" (comes with every meal) tastes very similar to real meat. However, be warned about the extremely deadly hot sauce. Unknowingly, I drizzled some of it on my rice, and it would be an understatement to say my mouth was on fire. If you can handle extreme heat, by all means...otherwise stay away. As I completed my meal I really appreciated the time an effort put into each side dish made from the stewed vegetables to the macaroni to the chick peas. All of it was quite delicious. This rating lost stars from me because of the distance and wait time, but all in all, a solid choice especially if you are in the area.

We ordered to go and ate at my place... Soul food at its best!

Fabulous Carribean food! Yelpers on here helped me find this hidden gem. The server here was so inviting, she explained all the curries to us. We ended up going with a small container, but it was stuffed to the top. Ww went with the rice, a side of pumpkin curry, spinach curry, lentil curry and the chicken. You only have a choice of two, but they gave us three cause it was our first time, you know what? Ask for three but offer to pay extra, it's so hard picking from all those curries and some of everything made the meal amazing! They topped it off with some arugula, tomatoes and fresh cucumbers. The flavours... this the place for soul food, comfort food!

Rice and peas, plantain, callaloo, zucchini stew, stew peas, bbq soy dish

Ital vital is a vegan takeout restaurant in Scarborough and it is absolutely delicious, whether or not you are vegan yourself. If you are looking for caribbean style food that tastes like it was cooked at home, this is the place for you. Be sure to go there earlier in the day for the best selection of foods (before their last hour of operation for the day). The portion sizes are huge and the staff are some of the friendliest in the city. My plate had rice and peas, plantain, callaloo, zucchini stew, stew peas, salad, bbq soy dish, and a tofu drumstick. Drooling yet? They also have quinoa, curry dishes and great drinks like irish moss, peanut punch, spirulina smoothies etc. This restaurant is delicious and guilt-free! Me and my family are regulars.

Ital Vital is a Caribbean/Rastafarian vegetarian mom and pops restaurant/juice bar located in a small corner plaza on Pharmacy Ave in Scarborough. Seating is limited inside and it's more of a takeout place. Parking is also really limited, so most people park on Leahurst Dr. and walk over. I'm not a vegetarian but I try and eat healthy on a regular basis. It's really important what you put into your body but I don't find most vegetarian places too appealing from a taste perspective but Ital Vital is really delicious even from a non vegetarian perspective. I normally order a small box ($10 tax included) which consists of either rice or noodles with a main, two sides, a salad and plaintain. I normally get the soy tofu bbq ribs as the main with noodles and okra and roasted vegetables as the two sides. It also comes with a salad and some plaintain. The noodles are okay, the okra and roasted vegetables are nicely done but the standout is the soy tofu bbq ribs. The soy tofu bbq ribs taste like the real thing and are really good. The whole meal is pretty filling and reasonably priced at $10 tax included. Ital Vital is a really good and healthy food option that makes tasty food that is appealing to vegetarians and non vegetarians. It's also very reasonably priced.

I learned recently that Grace Foods makes jerk chicken patties. I had to figure out where I could…read moregrab some. Aunt Elsie's Caribbean Kitchen had them in stock. I decided to drop by on Saturday, just after noon. It's in a fairly dumpy strip mall on Eglinton Avenue East, just west of Brimley Road, in Scarborough. There is plenty of parking. I parked fairly close to the entrance. A car was illegally parked in front of the business next to Aunt Elsie's. I don't get why folks need to do that when there are so many parking spots. Aunt Elsie's looks like a tiny convenience store from the outside, but looks are deceiving. It's also a small Jamaican grocery store that doubles as a takeout eatery. I was not expecting such an amazing place. I simply wanted patties! I found the Grace jerk chicken patties. They came in mild and hot flavours. I always go with mild when I'm not familiar with how spicy items can be. There are also Allan's and Michidean patties. You know that you are at a decent place. Although I felt like Ms Pac-Man as I moved around a small space with a bunch of folks while trying to physically distance, I looked at all the condiments and spices. This place uses space wisely. The wall of condiments and spices is impressive. I also looked longingly at the chilli peppers. They looked pretty and deadly! The hot foods counter blew me away. You can't help but gawk at all the yummy food options, from various fried fish, to jerk chicken and curry goat while you are in line to pay for your items. I took one look at the salt fish fritters and knew that I needed to try them. I got two. Note to self: Get the oxtail dinner next time. Get more hot items after that. I had a lovely, sweet woman behind the counter get my fritters and cash me out. I paid using my debit card. She also bagged my goodies. I thanked her and wished her a lovely day. The customers at this store are friendly. I loved the vibe. They were courteous and nice, which I'm not necessarily used to in my neck of the woods! I was still full from breakfast. However, I made room to consume a salt fish fritter in my car before I continued running errands. OMG! It was so flavourful. The fish was salted, but not to the point where you feel like you need to down a litre of your favourite beverage afterwards. It was seasoned perfectly. I think that there was garlic, onion, and red pepper, at least. So good! I have such a weakness for fritters and I'm glad that I caved here. I heated up a jerk chicken patty for breakfast (hey, why not?) this morning. It does have a spice kick that is more than what you'd typically expect from an item that is labelled mild. Highly yummy. The filling is flavourful and the dough part was perfect. Each patty is individually wrapped to preserve freshness. A box is $5.90. I love them! Aunt Elsie's was such a terrific find. If you want to order hot food in advance, this eatery is on Uber Eats. Otherwise, you can call ahead. (396)

So friendly and welcoming it was like going to someone's home. The man was so excited to hear that we came all the way from downtown to try their food! I wanted to give the full 5 stars but I have to say, I was missing the heat. That might've been on us for not asking for pepper sauce.

We had the jerk chicken with rice and peas, snapper with brown stew veggies and rice, stuffed oxtail patty...EVERYTHING WAS EXCELLENT! Jerk chicken was tender, full of flavor- great spices with the perfect balance of heat that was experienced throughout the bite, not just on the skin. The Snapper was cooked to order (30 minute wait). Tender, great flavor, not too many bones. Even the fish gravy was made to order as when I asked for more they had to make it. Deliciously worth the wait. The STUFFED OXTAIL PATTY was the star of the show. When they say stuffed, they mean it! This beauty is a creative love song in your mouth that your stomach will thank you for. It's buttery, soft, flaky, flavorful, fatty in the best oxtail kinda ways, and just....YES! You didn't know you needed this in your life but your welcome. This menu item can be a meal that stands on its own as I could only get through half of it as a side. Service was good. Just one young lady at the register holding down two long lines alone. One for the order and payment, and the other for pick up. She did well navigating high demand and customer satisfaction. Tip: Get extra gravy- we got extra oxtail, jerk, and fish and used it. Ambiance is mom & pop. You can eat there, or take it to go. Most people grabbed there's to go. Had we eaten ours there we probably would've ended up doubling our order and waistline. Well... in my Arnold Terminator voice, "I'll Be Back!"

All of the oxtail shredded meat, the cheese, the slaw, and the patty all perfectly come together into a very hearty meal. For its price, it is very filling and extremely tasty. The other thing we had was the Large Jerk Chicken meal. The Jerk Chicken was how I personally would want it. Not too hot, not too salty, not burnt, and spiced just right. The rice & beans proportion to the protein was just a little more than what I would prefer, but it is not a big issue. There was also a piece of bread that we had along with the meal which I enjoyed having. It was tasy and soft bread that perfectly acts to refresh the palate so we can go for another bite out of the Jerk Chicken or the Oxtail patty. What was a little letdown was that the place was a little small and not really primarily setup to accommodate a lot of indoor dining. There was no washroom or at least a place to wash hands. Service was also just alright. It was not bad, but just not among the best service standards that I know. You would need to come in with a lot of patience in waiting to order and waiting for the food to be ready to serve. Between taking orders, the person over the counter would also be occasionally be on the phone answering call inquiries.

To compare the two, I ordered a spicy beef patty and tested them for flakiness, crispness, and filling. First off price wise. It was cheaper here at $2.70 including tax. I found that this beef patty here at Allwyn's was flaky enough but lacked the crispness of the outside dough. As well the filling was too moist or soggy and it was translucent which was off putting. Also, the patty was lukewarm and not piping hot. I came here to try one and then maybe go back in and pick up a dozen. But From the one patty I had. It didn't warrant a purchase of a dozen to take home for future enjoyment. I must say the patty was not bad. However I found it was not the best one I have had in Toronto. They are cash only and although they have a few tables, it seems to be a takeout spot. The Stuffed Sandwich is a Jamaican masterpiece. From the pillowy coco bread to the flaky beef patty to the spicy and smoky jerk chicken. There is definitely a lot going on here which makes it hard to really taste or appreciate all the ingredients and flavors here. The jerk chicken had a kick to it which was nicely balanced out by the coleslaw. Despite that, I would've much rather had this with either the patty or the coco bread (not both). Awesome try, overall!
