    Nice and comfy seats
    Kathy T.

We flew from NY to Rome, Then Rome back to NY, with business class straight flights.. All of the planes staff, were spectacular. Friendly and always checking to see if we needed anything. We were fed so much food and had unlimited liquor/wine. ( Pictures will be attached to review) Our seats were comfortable , we had plenty of room. ( yes you pay extra ) but for a trip that far, it's worth to be comfortable and pampered. Losing 1 star due to there workers when taking out luggage, going and coming back home, we asked to make sure our seats were next to one another. It was like we were going on a honeymoon and renewing vows. Workers stated they sat us next to one another , and when we walked onto the plane both times our seats were not next to one another. The flight going, they couldn't help us, by moving us together, but on our flight home, the flight attendant, made sure we were sitting next to one another.

Flying from Rome to New York! And flying ITA airways. Here's what I noticed right off the bat. Unnecessary checking of the boarding pass, AGAIN. We went through airport security pretty quick. Already passed the boarding pass and passport check. Walked down the ramp to get on the plane. One of the flight attendants was standing on the plane asking for boarding passes to get past her to go to your seat. Why?? We already passed all the check points. Our boarding pass and passport was already checked to get to the plane entrance. Why are you doing another check and holding up the line? Come on. It's completely unnecessary to check boarding passes again. After they've been validated by the machine and a human already. Seemed stupid. We've flown a lot and that's not a thing, that extra step is not necessary. The chairs don't offer much room. The tiny pillow they give you is garbage. And you don't have control over your air conditioning like other planes. You only have a light that you can turn off and on. What if I'm hot or cold and wanna turn my air up or down? Nope, gotta just deal with the temperature it is. The normal safety check that is done by flight attendants, is not done by them in this airline. Instead, a video is played to show you the in case of an emergency "this is what you do" instructions. That seems lazy that the flight attendants don't do this. The video was okay, but I value a live demonstration. Especially when it comes to safety issues. That's important information. And the video showed references to the Olympics and other things that could distract someone from the important information. They tried to be creative with the emergency information and I think it should be more straightforward, not artsy.

    Duct tape plane wtf

Lowest iq employees and inept company. Booked and checked in with seat number. Then told it was oversold when I checked in and no longer in business class that I paid for. WTF. I have my seat and number. Wtf! inbred and incompetent a holes

My first experience with the rebranded Alitalia who ceased operations and were reborn as ITA Airways. Most of the same routes, most of the same aircraft, most of the same staff. I had been on Alitalia in 2019 for Paris to Milan/Linate and 2020, New York -Rome/Fiumicino - Palermo - Rome/Fiumicino. In 2023, I experienced ITA for Rome/Fiumicino - Naples - Rome/Fiumicino. Very short flights on ITA Airways out of Rome and while there there was turbulence on the outbound, there was none on the return. Expect no service on shorter flights. Jetbridges? We don't need no jetbridges. Expect your plane to be parked out in the wilds of Fiumicino airport and you'll be brought to the terminal in a packed bus. Yes, even "European Business Class" are on the bus. The seat was as comfortable as any 2x3 economy seat can be. It did have power and a little phone holder that was neat. Too many US airlines don't have power at the seat so this was a plus. There are no ITA Airways lounges for non-Schengen flights. Thankfully, I have access to a Priority Pass lounge or I'd have spent a few hours out there in the terminal with the noise. Yeah, I'd fly them again. I flew from FLR(Florence) to FCO(Rome), a 45-minute trip, the view was awesome. I was so happy when I flew this airline (I never been a passenger before) My seat was 3C, not a big seat, but OK.

Evidence of broken headrest. Maintenance tech couldn't fix thus my head would rest on metal fixtures.

Lots of seating and dining options including some surprisingly inexpensive choices. I got a plate of sliced porchetta, just the meat, for just over €5. Very satisfying. The environment in T3, especially the upper dining floor, is cool, airy with lots of space, and surprisingly subdued in tone despite the volume of people. Relaxing, even! It's a little nerve wracking that the gates are announced so late, 30-45 minutes before boarding, but it's not much of a gauntlet to get to one's gate. T1 and T3 are easily accessible from the train. If you're looking for a last minute postcard drop, there are mailboxes inside T1 at the main departures level, just ask the person at the info booth. Check-in both times went smoothly and the service was courteous. Would appreciate this kind of service in North America. You can given bring up to 2L of liquids through security, gasp! Great airport. Walked into a lounge and they told us we actually needed to go from Terminal 3 to 1, which was nice of them, and it was fortunately easy and quick to get between the two. Swung by Plaza Premium Lounge which was decent. They had some decent food including pasta, meat, and salad. Not remarkable but still a solid place to chill. Went to our gate about 50 min before the flight was departing and it was already boarding the earlier groups. Was able to line up, get on the plane quickly, and depart on time.

Unfortunately, there's no delta sly club at this airport (under construction vs. not built??), but you can enjoy the ITA lounge. However, by the time you go through customs, and Italy's version of TSA, and then walk through the plethora of duty free shopping, you'll barely have time before you have to be at your gate. The main reason for the 5 star review was the wonderful service provided by delta flight attendants on both my flights. They were attentive and so personable! The plane was clean and the bathrooms (on both flights) were kept in impeccable condition. I flew economy on my way to Rome, and decided to upgrade to Delta first class (Delta One) on my return flight to USA. And I was treated with kindness and professionalism regardless of my class ..Bravo!! Overall, I highly recommend Delta to/from Rome (FCO).

So of course, we had to wait longer until everything was set up. What a mess.

I would leave Rome in the evening and arrive in Beijing in the early afternoon. The flight was about 11 hours. It was probably the first flight I would ever fly from Europe to Asia, which is really cool. I also thought I got a moderate deal from them. The airline ticket counter might be hard to find in Rome's airport, so you may have to check with Alitalia since Air China codeshares with that airline as well for this route. The food was actually good on the flight. Definitely not as good as the food on Cathay Pacific's flights, but I remember getting a Beef and Rice dish, and the beef was actually tender and the peppers were decent. Rice seemed to be nice, soft and hot enough as if the rice came out of a rice cooker. The egg breakfast they served was just okay and it really tasted like processed food. Flight attendants can speak English, but it's very passable and sometimes incomprehensible. They were courteous and polite. They cannot speak Italian which might be difficult for the Italian passengers who do not know English or Mandarin Chinese. There was an incident on the flight where a passenger who was sitting close to me could only speak Italian and French and she had trouble communicating with the flight attendants. I had to do some minor translation work for the lady, since I knew some French. There was some turbulence, but I was able to get some sleep throughout most of the flight. They do offer some good in-flight entertainment options, a good selection of "on-demand" international films from all over the world, but mostly American and Chinese films. The remote control was a tiny bit difficult to use, but I did not use it often, mainly to check to see where the plane was. Once cool thing is that you could view the plane take off and land from the "cockpit camera". I have not seen this feature since flying on Swiss International Airlines. Overall, I had a decent flight and I did not feel any jet lag when I arrived in Beijing. This is probably the airline I could turn to if I really wanted to fly to Beijing, particularly from Europe, since they offer some decent deals.
