I flew ITA Airways for my birthday trip to Italy, and it was such a great start to the celebration! The food service was genuinely impressive--they served several snacks and full meals throughout the flight, and everything tasted surprisingly good for airline food. The movie selection was perfect and gave me the chance to finally catch up on shows I'd been meaning to watch. The seats were super comfy too, not to mention my window seat view catching magic hour --I slept like a baby, which never happens on flights! We flew from NY to Rome, Then Rome back to NY, with business class straight flights.. All of the planes staff, were spectacular. Friendly and always checking to see if we needed anything. We were fed so much food and had unlimited liquor/wine. ( Pictures will be attached to review) Our seats were comfortable , we had plenty of room. ( yes you pay extra ) but for a trip that far, it's worth to be comfortable and pampered. Losing 1 star due to there workers when taking out luggage, going and coming back home, we asked to make sure our seats were next to one another. It was like we were going on a honeymoon and renewing vows. Workers stated they sat us next to one another , and when we walked onto the plane both times our seats were not next to one another. Flying from Rome to New York! And flying ITA airways. Here's what I noticed right off the bat. Unnecessary checking of the boarding pass, AGAIN. We went through airport security pretty quick. Already passed the boarding pass and passport check. Walked down the ramp to get on the plane. One of the flight attendants was standing on the plane asking for boarding passes to get past her to go to your seat. Why?? We already passed all the check points. Our boarding pass and passport was already checked to get to the plane entrance. Why are you doing another check and holding up the line? Come on. It's completely unnecessary to check boarding passes again. After they've been validated by the machine and a human already. Seemed stupid. We've flown a lot and that's not a thing, that extra step is not necessary. The chairs don't offer much room. The tiny pillow they give you is garbage. And you don't have control over your air conditioning like other planes. You only have a light that you can turn off and on. What if I'm hot or cold and wanna turn my air up or down? Nope, gotta just deal with the temperature it is. The normal safety check that is done by flight attendants, is not done by them in this airline. Instead, a video is played to show you the in case of an emergency "this is what you do" instructions. That seems lazy that the flight attendants don't do this. The video was okay, but I value a live demonstration. Especially when it comes to safety issues. That's important information. And the video showed references to the Olympics and other things that could distract someone from the important information. They tried to be creative with the emergency information and I think it should be more straightforward, not artsy. read more

Round trip (Miami--Rome--Florence) in business class was one of the most underwhelming, uncomfortable, and unpleasant travel experiences I can recall. The A330 business class pods are small, cramped, poorly designed, and excruciatingly uncomfortable. There is no storage space for a briefcase or purse, the seat controls are buggy and non-intuitive, and the power outlets and lighting controls are located behind the passenger, thus requiring passengers to contort themselves each time they need to adjust either. The wifi service? Let's just be frank and call it what is: a disgraceful scam. Curiously, the wifi works with the speed and efficiency of a fiber network during the collection of your payment, but then you spend the rest of the flight waiting for your website to load (naturally, all attempts to coax some assistance from tech support are futile (hint: there is no tech support). Finally--and perhaps most disappointing--the flight attendants were aloof, inattentive, impersonable, and lazy. Even Alitalia (which was literally a disorganized flying shit show) could at least be counted on to staff flights with flight attendants who were professional, courteous, and committed to providing first-class service. The Montreal Convention for international flights says the last carrier is responsible for delayed bags or lost baggage. We have been unable to file an online claim for a delayed bag and a lost bag because we were not issued an ITA ticket number. We do not have a ticket number because we were rerouted by American Airlines because of weather delays. I have made repeated calls to try and find a workaround so we file a claim. I have reported them to the aviation entity that oversees the convention. I have trip insurance but the reimbursement from the airlines is more. read more

My first experience with the rebranded Alitalia who ceased operations and were reborn as ITA Airways. Most of the same routes, most of the same aircraft, most of the same staff. I had been on Alitalia in 2019 for Paris to Milan/Linate and 2020, New York -Rome/Fiumicino - Palermo - Rome/Fiumicino. In 2023, I experienced ITA for Rome/Fiumicino - Naples - Rome/Fiumicino. Very short flights on ITA Airways out of Rome and while there there was turbulence on the outbound, there was none on the return. Expect no service on shorter flights. Jetbridges? We don't need no jetbridges. Expect your plane to be parked out in the wilds of Fiumicino airport and you'll be brought to the terminal in a packed bus. Yes, even "European Business Class" are on the bus. The seat was as comfortable as any 2x3 economy seat can be. It did have power and a little phone holder that was neat. Too many US airlines don't have power at the seat so this was a plus. There are no ITA Airways lounges for non-Schengen flights. Thankfully, I have access to a Priority Pass lounge or I'd have spent a few hours out there in the terminal with the noise. Yeah, I'd fly them again. Absolutely will avoid this airline in the future at all costs. Flew LAX-FCO and back. Having been a flight attendant before for a major airline I knew what to look out for. Customer service deserves 0 stars. Flight attendants were unfriendly and there were only 2 snacks available both ways on our 12+ hour flights, they were dreadful. The "meals" provided were mostly bread and bland and the cheapest of cheap ready meal. Turbulence on the way there was moderate and on the way back SEVERE (nonstop turbulence for the entire flight back by the way). The pilots could have done something about that, it was extremely uncomfortable. I am utterly disappointed in ITA airways and I will advise my friends and family against using them in the future. read more

ITA Air(rogance)ways... Those mercenaries deliberately use travellers' physical pain as an opportunity to rip them off. Official regulations establish that, whenever possible, airlines should accommodate passengers' medical needs confirmed by medical documents. I presented to ITA's so-called "special assistance" service an official attestation from my doctor explaining that, due to a lower back injury that causes intense pain, I need aisle seats to allow me to stand-up, stretch, and mobilise during flights. They completely ignored it, breaching Regulation (EC) No 1107/2006. They simply told me callously to pay more for that. A THIRD of the seats on those flights are aisle ones! I certainly did not ask for any special treatment or privilege. I sent a message to their complaints service about that. They simply dismissed it, showed zero empathy or understanding, and dodged my request once again by asking me to call the regular customer service number instead. They puff the chest and shout out loud that they don't give a damn about customers' health or needs. They seem to enjoy and take great pride in treating you with disdain. Prove them you have intense physical pain and they will show how sadistic and avaricious they can be. What a twisted mentality and culture! No wonder their score in most review websites is below 2 out of 5... This was my first and last time flying with ITA Air(rogance)ways. read more

We had discounted round trip tickets from SFO (San Francisco) to FCO (Rome) with a transfer from Rome to VCE (Venice). We missed the transfer to Venice while at the Rome airport and ITA automatically cancelled the return flight! Why? We did not want the return flight to be cancelled! I think they cancelled the return flight so we had to buy tickets at retail prices from Rome to Venice and from Italy back to SFO. I suspect they cancelled our flight back so they can charge those high retail prices. I understand it was not their fault we missed the flight. However I wish ITA would change their policy and not automatically cancel the return flight. read more

One star because we did not crash. We flew from Roma to Catania and paid €100 per person for business class. What we got for the 1 hour flight was seating up front with no middle seat. Our food and beverage was: a small bag of awful rosemary chips and juice. No beer, no wine. Just juice and sparkling water. I am really angry about this treatment. ITA Airways sucks. read more

Both of our seats were broken on flight from Boston to Rome. Sour attitude flight attendents dismissed our request for other seating. Flight was NOT full. Had to sit upright with broken armrests for 7.5 hours with seat in front of me fully reclined, practically under my chin. Return trip..broken seat again! Horribly maintained old planes, A330. Booked flight thru Rome to Nice. After waiting 1 hour for our second booked flight that was also delayed, told that boarding pass for this flight is worthless; sent to Rome gate A52 where no agent was present. Apparently ITA cancelled our flight & rebooked another 4-5 hours later without informing us until email suddenly appeared after landing in Rome. ITA app & website also indicate false info about our flight (3 hours later). Recent screenshots clearly prove this additional allegation. See photos Booking agent (booking.com) said our original second flight was cancelled; untrue. Took photo of others in line for same 2nd flight but we were denied entry & were given no reason by gate agent or customer-no-service agent. Strongly recommend against anyone doing business with ITA. Terrible terrible terrible airline; worst ever IMO. You will be sorry if you take the risk. Book on s REAL airline. First, they are supposed to be a partner of Delta - yet, they made us rebook on our connecting flight. More long lines. The plane was then hot and bathrooms were disgusting by midflight (no toilet paper even). They then left my bag in NY and never offered any compensation - I have nothing but the clothes on my back in a foreign country. No vouchers were offered to help me out or anything. This company is the true definition of a Mafia Airline, they charge you a ton of money if you have any problem and have to make changes in your flight, at the airport they give directions on how to cancel your reservations and that you're not gonna have to pay any extra money for it then when you call the airline to remake your reservations (that you paid to upgraded seats) they say a complete different story, our trip to Rome was 10k more than it should because we have to change our flights on the way to Rome and on our way back to Miami ... it's a new company taking advantage of costumers that's desperately trying to go back home.
