My tech, Evan, arrived on-time and got right to work. He only needed to replace the circuit board in the unit. So, I asked him why he was removing the metal bars that anchor it to the ceiling. "Because it wasn't done right when it was installed & it bugs me". He did that, at no charge, because he has pride in his work & the company he works for. Appreciated that so much because how else would I have known? Then Evan took the time to help us program the new remotes, apply lubricant, & look over everything to ensure both of our doors are working properly. Thank you, Apex, for treating us like family.

The entire installation process was incredibly disappointing, and the final result is completely unacceptable. Here is exactly what went wrong: Unprofessional Timing: The installer showed up late, setting a poor tone for the appointment right from the start. Rushed and Careless Work: The installer was clearly in a massive hurry to leave and did not take the time to do even the most basic functional checks to ensure things worked as expected. Dismissive Attitude: They barely spent any time looking at my existing garage door opener before outright declaring it was "broken" and wouldn't work. Ironically, after they left, I was able to get it working perfectly fine myself after just a few tries. Improper and Unsafe Installation: The new door is completely unbalanced. If you manually open a properly installed door halfway, it is supposed to stay in place. Mine does not--it aggressively shoots all the way up. This clearly shows that the springs are not balanced or tensioned correctly. If you are looking for careful, competent work from someone who won't rush through the job, look elsewhere. I strongly regret trusting the reviews for this business and would not recommend them to anyone.

He also recommended the metal end plates since they typically last 15 years and he said mine needed replacing. I accepted that repair and he suggested replacing the rollers but i declined that as it would have made it a higher cost than I was comfortable paying. I was happy they were able to schedule me on Sunday morning. The technician that came out worked under Ultimate garage door but affiliated with Olympus. Overall positive experience and very responsive owner. 5 years warranty on the springs.

Tuesday, nothing. Wednesday, I talked to 3 more people. Each time I'm told someone is on the way. The last one of them said I'd approved $600 in repairs. I asked him how I could have done that as no one has yet come over to diagnose the problem. He got huffy & hung up on me. Minutes later a woman called, said there'd been a mistake. Someone is coming "right now" to help you. Later, another call from her, no one can come until Thursday. On Thursday morning I get a call at 8:45 am from a guy saying he will be leaving a job soon & he is an hour away. 4 hours later I decide to give up on Olympus since they seem to be little more than a dispatch service & I'm tired of waiting. Based on what I told another company I called, it was likely the circuit board that had failed. Most manufacturers only warranty the board for 1 year. I was given an appt for early Friday & reassured the techs carry the boards on their truck so I wouldn't have to wait any longer. Then, another call from Olympus. This man says he's 1/2 hour away. When he arrived, I explain the issue AGAIN. Told him I think it's the circuit board. This garage door "expert" looks me in the eye & lies. Says a circuit board cannot be replaced "no one does that". Then he lies again & says I need a new opener. It normally costs $1,200, but since I'm a "repeat customer", he'll do it for $600, LOL! The tech from Apex not only replaced the circuit board, he removed and replaced the stabilizing bars for the opener (for free) because "it's like he didn't know what he was doing" when it was installed. It's important to have a door that operates safely. Olympus wasted my time, my money, compromised our safety & lied to me.

I called on a Friday morning, and the woman who handled the intake was incredibly friendly and helpful. She was able to get us scheduled for service that same day, which was amazing. Darren called before arriving to let me know he needed to stop at the gas station and even offered to pick me up a drink while he was there. How thoughtful is that? From the moment he arrived, he was professional, polite, and extremely knowledgeable. He carefully explained everything in an easy-to-understand way, answered all my questions, and made sure I felt completely comfortable with the work being done. You can tell Darren genuinely cares about his customers and takes tremendous pride in his work. We previously used Bullfrog before A1 took over, and I could not be more pleased with the transition or the entire experience. The service was prompt, professional, and friendly from beginning to end. Darren truly went above and beyond and is an outstanding representative of the company. If you need garage door service, ask for Darren Stringfellow. You will be in excellent hands!

Just purchased a new home in NE Mesa, AZ. Began doing new homeowners repairs including fixing the…read moresqueaky noisy garage door. Hence why we contacted A1 garage Doors. Our technician was Lynn Craft. What seemed like an easy fix, soon led to an aggressive up sale for a 80,000 cycle spring at a wicked cost of $1600, followed by new cable leads and other accessories for another $1400, and a new LED belt driven Lift Master garage door opener at $2600. A $5600 expense in total! Scare tactics ensued involving springs bursting and how the garage door can spontaneously crush our cars, and how it will happen at any moment. A higher level of hard selling then any car dealership has ever inflicted on me. I said I had to think it over and get back to A1 Garage door, which only flamed his anger. I paid Lynn Craft our technician for the door tuneup which was a few squirts of oil on the rollers and parted our separate ways. My intuition told me I was being scammed. This past October of 2025, I had far greater work done on my Vancouver, WA home which cost me a total of $1600 for a new Liftmaster 6690L, two80,000 cycle springs, two cables, torsion rollers, new guide rails, and 10 new nylon rollers. Ironically the cost of the Lift-master opener we purchased 1 year ago was $675.. plus upgraded outdoor keypad at $100. in Contrast A1 wanted $2600 for the exact same unit! I went back to my online research and found several reputable companies who have quoted me 60% less than A1 Garage Door service. Beware people! * Let this serve as a warning to all Garage repair consumers. Do your homework or get financially extorted!

**One Star: Lifetime Warranty Not Honored, Warranty Stickers Removed Without Permission**…read more I would strongly caution anyone considering Rite-A-Way Garage Doors & Gates based on my experience with their warranty practices and garage door repair service. Rite-A-Way originally installed the garage door on our custom-built home. One of the reasons we chose the company was the lifetime warranty advertised at the time. They even placed stickers on our garage door and garage walls referencing that warranty. When one of the garage door springs eventually broke, I contacted Rite-A-Way expecting the original warranty to be honored. Instead, I was told the company had changed ownership and would no longer honor the previous lifetime warranty. I ultimately paid $610.28 for the repair. What made the experience considerably worse was that, during the service visit, their technicians removed the lifetime-warranty stickers from my garage door and walls without asking for or receiving my permission. Consider that sequence of events. A company installs a garage door with an advertised lifetime warranty, subsequently refuses to honor that warranty, charges the customer for the repair, and then removes the physical reminders of the warranty from the customer's property. I cannot speak to the legal details of the company's ownership change. I can only speak to what I was told and what I experienced. Whatever may have changed behind the scenes, this was an extremely disappointing experience. Based on their handling of the warranty, the repair, and the unauthorized removal of warranty materials, I would not recommend Rite-A-Way Garage Doors & Gates.
