I'm sure when it's peak time it's live in there so I'll have to come back for an event. Went around noon on a Sunday and it was fairly empty so we sat at the bar and were serviced immediately. Strawberry lemon drop - 10/10 - I love a good lemon drop but a I'll never pass up a flavored one. No notes. Shrimp & Grits - 5/10 - don't get me wrong it was GOOD but it was too rich/cheesy to me. I don't know what I was expecting in terms of cheese but I've never had soooooo much cheese in an order of shrimp and grits. I legit pulled a mound of cheese off the top and it was still too much. I couldn't finish this unfortunately, even taking them home for another day didn't work because I couldn't take the richness. Not a slight to them, just a no for me. There was a great amount of shrimp in the dish and the consistency of the grifts were amazing. Just need something to cut through the richness. My friend had: Omelette - 10/10 - said they enjoyed it and would get it again Side of bacon - 10/10 - you got 6 pieces with the order and that was solid to me. I'd definitely come back and try something else on their brunch menu if given the chance. It's a bit out the way so I couldn't see myself traveling for it but if I was in the area I definitely would come back.

Just one other group of me, maybe some jazz music in the background, while we watched Basketball on the screen Best part about SOBEs was Mrs. Elaine, the bartendar. I would rate the food a 2.5/5. I had the shrimp tacos, which lacked flavor. The shrimp was bland. The Bang Bang shrimp was lacked flavor also. We barely touched these, so disappointing. People started showing up @ 7pm. which was $20 to get in. An AMAZING live cover band played at 9pm. By 7:45 pm, there was also a live DJ playing classic hip hop and RnB. That was such a VIBE! The crowd got really thick for the band, you literally had to push your way to the bathrooms. Bathrooms also need napkins to dry your hands with, instead of the nasty air hand dryers

Although probably first established while Friends was still on the air, Tryst has kept up with the comings and goings of Adams Morgan, reiterating itself with changes in the local culture and the arts, which are often on display. The building itself has a narrative to it, but it's the centrality of this respite from 'everywhere else' that makes Tryst stand out, lets it occupy memories of comfort and hospitality in my mind, keeps pulling at me to visit time and again. If it wasn't for Tryst, I doubt professional and personal lows would have turned out so rosy, in the end, for me.

With their extended hours, expansive food and drink selection, and cozy vibes, you can easily hole up in Tryst for the entire day. Personally, I've visited Tryst more time than I can count, and at literally all time of the day. I've definitely taken full advantage of Tryst's extended hours to fuel many, many late-night study and work sessions. I love how cozy the space is, with their slightly worn but super comfy couches and armchairs, dim lighting, and ambient cafe music. The staff is super friendly; you can either order from the counter if you're taking your order to go or just snag a spot and wait for the servers to make their way to you.

I got my food fairly quickly, while my friend who was next to me got his food at least 20 minutes later. I ordered salmon & grits (instead of shrimp) and a side Caesar salad. The salmon was good. It was seasoned and cooked well. The grits were very bland. It tasted a little better when I added salt, but still very disappointing because I was hungry. The Caesar salad was fine. It's hard to mess that up. Now onto the really horrible part of the experience: the drinks. We ordered the mimosa tower. I can assure you that all of these drinks were watered down. We got the strawberry lemonade flavor for our first tower. I noticed that my drinks tasted completely flat, so I tried to hurry up and finish so we could get another one. For the next one, I asked if we could just get straight champagne and they obliged. It was STILL watered down. How do you water down cheap, Andre champagne?! It's like $5 a bottle. I will still highlight our bartender/server, AB. He was great, and kept our drinks full and gave us mixed shots. I'm sure it wasn't his call to serve us watered down champagne. That has to come from management. All in all, I was severely underwhelmed with this place and will not be coming back.

We did not make a reservation in advance so when we arrived around 5:45 we were told there were no tables until 7. My husband and I walked around Annapolis and had a drink while waiting for our table. For being a restaurant with a rather full bar and cocktails on the menu, I was surprised they did not have Amaretto to make an Amaretto sour drink. I ended up ordering a glass of wine instead while my husband had a cocktail. We ordered the calamari and the oysters as appetizers. The oysters never came and we asked to have them off the bill (if it even was on there to begin with). My husband ordered the NY Strip which he ate but he was not completely happy with. I had the chicken Milanese and added a side of Brussel sprouts and au gratin potatoes. I really enjoyed the chicken dish and the brussels. The au gratin potatoes almost seems like mashed potatoes with a crust on top. It did not appear nor taste like it was layered potatoes like I would have expected. The hostess who also was responsible for resetting tables was the hardest working lady I saw. Our server forgot to put in dish we ordered, was slow to bring drinks and was completely clueless when refilling water. My husbands glass was empty and mine had one sip left but was otherwise mostly empty. They were sitting right next to each other on the table and she filled his but not mine. Oblivious. They only have bathrooms upstairs which was also a private event while we were there. When going up to use the bathroom I was stopped and asked for my name assuming I was there for the event. I felt intrusive passing through someone's private event. Overall, my expectations were not met and I will most likely not return.
