What really matters with tech companies is the customer support, and they mastered it!

A client needed a server at one time so I decided to have Tim build it for a variety of reasons. Two requirements included a DVD RW drive for making back ups, and two hard drives configured for RAID 1. Overall the server was well put together, but a couple of issues arose. First, the optical drive was defective (it wouldn't write), so I requested a replacement that I installed. Tim, for some reason, was not at all pleased about this, even though I had relieved him of the chore of swapping it out. His remarks would violate the rules pertaining to this review. Secondly, he had not properly configured the RAID 1 drives. They showed up as C and D drives instead of a single C drive. When I attempted to explain this he became argumentative, making it clear he would not accept that anything was incorrect. I reinstalled the OS myself, following instructions from Microsoft, and succeeded in completing the task correctly. As a result of this less than satisfactory experience I haven't returned. Tim has clearly managed quite well without my business, but I know I'm not the only former customer who's moved on to other vendors. I offer this as sincere constructive criticism, and leave it up to Tim to accept it or not...

I'm 57 and never had to replace a screen. I dropped my phone, screen broke...had to do it. Such is life. They fixed it, more expensive than the franchise place but it was my choice...all good. 11 days later my screen is cracked...I didn't drop it, didn't put the phone in any condition or environment that was in any way out of the ordinary....genuinely...on my kids...no lie. Just as it was before being fixed, my phone resides on an Otter box. I am at a friend's house...I set my phone down...pick it up an hour or so later and it's cracked. Does something rub up against it? Probably...maybe. Can't be sure. But there was zero stress put on the back or front of the phone. It was in my pocket, in the car and in this person's house. When I came back and explained my situation, the best they could do was instead of paying the $188 I paid originally, I paid $150. On the one hand, I get it. The warranty not covering physical damage makes sense. People are nuts, people are irresponsible, etc. But I got zero vibe, feeling, sense that my take mattered. I didn't ask for it but was thinking...if I'm the business owner, maybe I throw in a scree protector at not charge. A minimal...coupla bucks investment in a customer that says on some small way...we get it...you just paid $188 for a replacement and 10 days later...inexplicably you're paying another $150....so...as a basic gesture of goodwill...here's the bare fu***ing minimum we can do to display some level of service...and nope. Just a transaction. Gimme a GD reason to pay more to shop local next time. Your shortsightedness cost you not just a customer but probably 8-10 customers if basic marketing principles hold. Shop local - please...for everything you can. Your dollar, when spent locally serves the business and your community 10x vs what comes from shopping at a chain. However...if you need a mobile phone repaired...there is no benefit to shopping local. Why? Because they know they have you. They know you are captive to your phone. Really. They're right. We are. No argument. Go to the behemoth. Go to the chain if you need your phone fixed. These guys are no better. They know you will do whatever to get your phone back. They clearly use inferior quality product. And I feel for them on some level...they are competing against massive volume that prices them out for many folks. Well, this is the rare occasion where the local place lost me. I won't say "don't shop here", etc...cause maybe my experience is just a one-off. And...also...F them. They had a shot at being decent and failed.

I'm writing this because today's interaction with Atlantic Security was so unprofessional that it…read moregenuinely shocked me. Months ago, I called Atlantic for a quote on a system. I decided to keep researching, because unlike many customers, I don't jump into expensive security decisions blindly. After doing extensive research, I determined that the DSC NEO system was the right fit for me. I contacted Atlantic Security again and requested a quote specifically for the NEO. The quote came back at over $5,000, which was unnecessarily high, so I declined politely. A few months later, I purchased the DSC NEO directly from Tyco Integrated / Johnson Controls--the manufacturer. Today, I called Atlantic Security to inquire about installation and monitoring. Instead of receiving normal customer service, I was spoken to with a snarky, condescending attitude by a representative named Laina. She told me they were "not interested in doing business with me" and that I had "wasted their time multiple times." This is completely unacceptable. Comparing prices, researching equipment, and ensuring I make the right decision on a multi-thousand-dollar security system is not "wasting time." That is called being a smart consumer. These are major decisions--not impulse purchases. Here's the part Atlantic clearly didn't bother to consider: My father's company is a major corporation with multiple homes, buildings, and commercial sites--every one of which is secured and monitored. He is one of Atlantic Security's largest clients. In addition: I personally own a large technology company, and the amount of future business Atlantic could have received from me alone is something they clearly can't even begin to fathom. Because of the disrespect I experienced from one representative, Atlantic Security has now jeopardized--and likely completely lost--two major long-term clients representing a massive amount of revenue. All because of one employee who chose to speak to a customer with rudeness, attitude, and zero professionalism. I will be filing a formal BBB complaint. At minimum, Atlantic Security needs to retrain or reassign Laina, because speaking to paying clients or potential clients that way is unacceptable in any industry--let alone the security industry. Congratulations, Atlantic Security. In a single phone call, you managed to lose a tremendous amount of business from two extremely large companies
