We had a complete overhaul of our knob and tube wiring back in 2017. Troy and his boys took forever…read moreto get the job done and, when it was "done," I told him I would get the inspector out. He had run all of the wiring in the basement UNDER the floor joists instead of THROUGH as per code. He corrected that after I told him about the inspection. On top of that, some of his work was shoddy and his labelling of a brand new panel was absolutely awful. There are multiple "hot" switches in our house that don't do anything. The point was to hook them up to the ceiling fans, but that never happened. I still don't completely know which outlets and lights are on which breaker. His price was okay, but I would have preferred to pay more to have somebody do it better and faster.

I chose to pass them on on this 2-lane road. After activating my turn signal on entering the oncoming lane to pass the them, the front vehicle began increasing his speed all the way to 65mph, as if to intentionally block me from passing. This behavior is not only incredibly inappropriate but extremely dangerous and could get someone killed. Driving is not a competition, and I would never advise anyone to do business with a company who's employees think it's okay to put the lives of others in danger.

At 3:30 in the morning on July 11, 2025, lightning struck our house. The fire department told us to…read morecall an electrician. We called Rewired right away and they sent Jeremy to the house by 9. He had to completely rewire our entire circuit breaker panel, to install a whole home surge protector and to replace one of our GFI outlets that blew. He got right to work and had to order a new panel to be delivered from Des Moines to Iowa City. Frank rushed here and got right to work helping Jeremy finish the job. We were so impressed with their knowledge, hard work, kindness and support during a very difficult time. We will be calling them for future needs. Thank you for making a very hard day so much less stressful.

He was not up front about his charges even when asked point blank in person. He first tried to charge for 4 hours of work at $75 per hour. The actual job took less than an hour. When I confronted him about it, he changed it to 3.5 hours. Gee thanks :-( . So he didn't have the basic equipment needed for the job with him, even though he had an idea what to expect before coming to the job site. But, hey, I get it, I'm not an electrician, so maybe this wasn't such a common part, but the parts were standard. He then drove a 1 hour round trip to get the parts, but could have gone to a hardware store closer to get what was needed. When I received the bill, I saw that he charged his labor rate of $75 per hour to drive an hour and a half to and from the job site. This after he told me he doesn't add on a trip charge. Uhhh, seems to me to be a hefty trip charge, or was it just his highly skilled driving abilities that costed $150. In the end, the job is done and this small business was price gouged. Going forward, we will not hire him again, and I will always get estimates in writing. FYI, Ulery Electric was a match for the job on the HomeAdvisor.com search. A similar review can be found there.
