Last year, I went to a different Chiropractor for a severe pain point on the right side of my lower mid back. The situation was resolved but therapy took many more visits than I thought it should. The problem returned last week where I couldn't stand up straight without a severe sharp pain. Interviewed Dr Carlow (among others) searching for a Direct Thrust Adjustment Technique. Even though I'm sure Dr Carlow can provide low intensity adjustments, I asked to him to be very aggressive. After the first visit, I could stand up straight with greatly reduced pain. The second adjustment was last Friday, with only a shadow of a pain. Over the weekend I had no pain. I think Dr Carlow was surprised how quickly I recovered. Set appointment with Mr. Krueger to renew my medical Marijuana card. Card was to be renewed within 10 days. Today is 20days. Still no card. I jumped through hoop[s to get in touch with the correct person to see why the hold up. Finally Ethan called me back and explained what they needed from me to process this card renewal. Mr. Krueger never explained this to me nor gave me paper work as to what was needed. No phone call or email was sent to me to request item needed. My family and I have been going to Dr. Dan Carlow for nearly 20 years. We have referred many people to him and none were disappointed. Dr. Dan is an excellent chiropractor and has a kind personality that just puts his patients at ease. When I first started going to him, I was having bad headaches that I had been putting up with for years. He cured me of those! Over the last two decades, when I have back pain or neck tightness, I get an adjustment and feel so much relief! I feel amazing afterwards! One time I fell very hard on my tail bone and couldn't sit properly for weeks. It just wasn't getting better, but I didn't consider going to the chiropractor for it. Finally, when driving a stick shift was all but impossible while sitting on only one side of my bum, I had the sudden realization that Dr. Dan may be able to help me. I went to him and found out immediately that my coccyx was bent sideways and it would not have gone back on its own. He did one adjustment and - voila - I was better! And to think I suffered for weeks needlessly. He has taken care of our family members after a total of 4 car accidents (and two of our employees after they were in accidents). Without him, we would have been dealing with back and neck issues for years to come, rather than for just a few weeks or months. We have so much confidence in Dr. Dan's care that everyone in our family knows to get to him as soon as possible after a car accident to minimize the physical damage and the time it takes to reverse the effects of the accident. Dr. Dan started doing adjustments on my oldest child when she was about 7. But when I had my second, I brought her to him before she was even a month old. THAT is how much I trust that this man knows what he is doing. He is gentle with even adult adjustments, but even more so with babies. He would apply a bit of pressure next to the vertebrae that were not aligned perfectly. Now that she's 6, she actually asks to go to Dr. Dan because she can feel the difference after seeing him. The experience is more than pleasant, it's a happy visit. He is calm, nice, gentle and engages kids by talking directly to them and listening well. He answered his cell phone and opened the office late on a Saturday to see my boyfriend, a first time patient. Had all the equipment and is a true blue professional. In the 24 years that I have been seeing chiropractors, Dr. Carlow is the absolute best I have ever seen! He is kind and I trust him. I highly recommend Islands Chiropractic. Both my husband and I, as well as many of our neighbors, go to him for chiropractic care. He and his staff are friendly, helpful, and attentive to our needs. Dr. Carlow treats my husband for his moderate to severe scoliosis. I go to him for periodic adjustments for the effects of poor posture and repetitive stress from running. Islands Chiropractic also offers therapeutic massage. The massage therapists are very good at identifying and addressing the problem areas. My whole life, I"ve suffered from allergies. Growing up, environmental allergies really got the best of me and being allergic to all kinds of grass - there was no avoiding it. When I reached my college years, my stomach began to be give me problems. Between constant cramping when I ate and digestive issues, it was a never ending cycle. The stomach pains grew to be so bad that I cut my eating down to one meal a day. As my stomach pains worsened, I started to find myself covered in hives, and eventually different regions on my body started swelling. After seeing what seemed like a fifty different doctors, I ended up at an allergist who diagnosed me with allergies to gluten, dairy, yeast and onions - which eliminated 98% of all the foods I had been eating the last 18 years of my life. Completely changing my entire diet was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but after thousands of dollars on testing, doctors appointments and different treatments that did nothing for me, I was told that complete elimination was my only option in addition to receiving monthly injections for hives. After eliminating all the foods from my diet, I was told to go to the extent of using entirely new cookware to avoid all cross contamination. Through a hard learning curve on what was considered to be "gluten free," I also found that my body could only handle foods that were certified gluten free. As you can imagine, this process was painful and made it very hard even occasionally eat out with friends and family. I can't even count the times where I ended up at a restaurant where I couldn't eat a single thing on the menu, or a restaurant where I had to talk directly to the chef about my allergies, or the times I broke out in hives just because I sat too close to the kitchen where my allergens were in the air. My allergy situation grew to be so frustrating, at times I would actually just sit and cry because I missed certain foods, or because I felt like I couldn't eat anything, or because I felt like I was inconveniencing everyone else with my restrictions. Dr. Carlow reached out to me when he began offering allergy clearing because he remembered the severity of my allergies and the frustration they had caused me. When he told me that he would offer allergy clearing, I thought I would give it a try because it couldn't hurt. Little did I know, his treatments would allow me to enjoy the foods I had missed for so long. After Dr. Carlow's clearing sessions, I've been able to start eating food that I didn't think I would be able to ever have again. He has made it so I can enjoy date night at more than two restaurants, and so I can actually eat out with my family, or buy something from the store that's not certified gluten free. I no longer have to worry about what food was once cooked in every single pot and pan I use. I had an appointment as I had been in an auto accident. I had never been to a Chiropractor, but my husband had been to Dr. Brad Williamson. Dr. Williamson was on vacation so I made the appointment with Dr. Carlow. When I arrived and he realized my husband was a patient of Dr. Williamson he did not want to treat me. I did not want to wait 2 more days to be seen and expressed that. I respect his dedication to his colleague, however I was made to feel like a total imposition. I asked if he could simply do the x-ray as I wanted to know I was okay from the accident, 10 minutes of telling me why he didn't not want to I left. The way I see it he lost a new client, and Dr. Brad Williamson lost an existing client. Very disappointed. read more

Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience here. I went to see Dr. Carlow for help with TMJ pain. After four appointments and adjustments to my jaw, he said he felt that was the most he could do for me. There was no change to my pain at all. However, his therapy to my neck and back was very good and I felt some relief there. What made my experience a nightmare was following those four appointments and how he handled billing. I used BCBS PPO insurance. I had to pay about $75 per visit, and he communicated to me that my insurance company may send checks for him as well. The insurance company did issue checks for him, but some of the checks were lost in the mail. Although I never received these checks, he held me responsible for them. He called me at my home multiple times per week asking me about these checks and demanding payment from me. I continuously explained to him that I never received these checks and they must have been lost in the mail. He said I'm still responsible to pay him this money, which was over $300. Granted I've already paid him over $300 for my past 4 visits. In the end, he said he didn't care about what happened to the checks, and I have to "rectify the situation" on my own with the insurance company. I eventually received a bill from him for over $300 saying my account is "past due"? I paid this bill only to stop the harassment of him calling me about this money from the insurance company that I had no power over. With the holidays around the corner, I'm out over $600 for 4 visits for treatment that did not help my TMJ pain and a lot of stress dealing with Dr. Carlow's harassing calls and unsympathetic attitude when I did nothing wrong regarding these insurance checks. I definitely will never go back to this practice, and I wouldn't recommend Dr. Carlow to anyone. Maybe if he had an employee to handle insurance billing properly, this whole situation could have been avoided. I'm sorry I couldn't say better things about this practice and this chiropractor. I ended up getting great relief with physical therapy, including a no-worry insurance billing experience, elsewhere. read more
