The only change made after his work was installing a standard shower door on a walk-in shower -- something any homeowner would reasonably need in order to actually use the shower. Expecting a family to shower without a door is unrealistic. A shower door is a simple surface-level addition and has no impact on plumbing, waterproofing, or the behind-the-wall work that later failed. Multiple professionals have since confirmed that the leak originated inside the wall, not from anything we installed afterward. I'm adding this update so future customers are not misinformed by the business owner's assumptions. My original concerns remain the same.

To complicate matters I could not come to Maui and oversee the work to be done so I needed to find someone with whom I could work long distance. This required someone who not only had excellent renovation skills but also could communicate well. Fortunately, I found Eric's Home Repairs. From the beginning, Eric outlined specifically what work could be done and the cost so there were never any surprises. He very often gave me important and valuable suggestions and input about materials or issues that needed to be addressed. He sent me many photos so I could see the progress and make informed decisions. All of the work he did was exemplary (and he did a lot!). Some of the work he did included painting the unit, replacing kitchen cabinets, removing broken floor tiles and then installing laminate flooring, installing tile flooring in the bathroom, installing a new counter, sink, and faucet and new plumbing in the kitchen, installing new toilets, vanities, mirrors, faucets, and light fixtures in the bathrooms, installing new closet doors and fans and baseboards, and so many other things. He added a wall where an unnecessary door was, repaired damage in the sheetrock, and built a bar in the kitchen. Business owner and manager, Cherif Guerguis, is focused on professional customer service. Communication was great - always knew what to expect - no surprises. MB has the capacity and ability to meet the customer where they are at. Cherif's aim is to get the job - to benefit the business obviously - but he enjoys delivering a package that pleases the customer. Most days Cherif came to the job site, and every day he calls. The crew is considerate, congenial, and get the big picture really well. Most of all MB is a team offering a wide range of services, skill sets, talents such as rough carpentry, weatherproofing, concrete & masonry, drywall, finish carpentry, and systems. They are efficient and willing to do the tough work that comes with the job. Due to the commute, MB often worked 4,10 hour days, each week, which was a relief and allowed us to catch up with them over weekend. I give MB 5 stars for always keeping this job on-track even when having to adjust to labor shortages, complexities, and delayed deliveries. MB was good at working through the punch list at the end of the job - making sure we were satisfied. It helped for us to pitch-in at times with clean up and putting in final touches. Our experience with the company has led to significant financial and emotional hardship for our…read morefamily. We hired LNS in towards the end of July 2021, initially, everything was going well. The demolition and installation of the sink and shower plumbing went quickly. Then the emergency calls started. Emergencies at other sites, personal emergencies and soon acts-of-god type situations started to happen. Soon, it was the end of August, September, October, November, December, January and February with no follow up work being done. Lots of "guarantee the work will get done, will be there tomorrow." We confirmed the dates and times, rearranged our work schedules (even at times other family gatherings or events) and were met with no shows. We were kind, thoughtful, understanding of the situations happening. We gave ample time for Lloyd to come by and continue the work. Communication was kept open but it was very one-sided where we initiated contact and was met with, "totally forgot about this or something came up." There were no other staff in this company that apparently could cover the work. My family shouldn't have to suffer because your life is falling apart. Run your company better, have backup plans for your clients if you are unable to get the work done. Or...refund the money paid when you break your own contract. The bathroom is for my mom because the other bathroom has a tub and not a shower. She's fallen twice in the tub since her bathroom's been under construction for so long. When we moved to get the work done by someone else, drywall had to be redone and the 3 piece shower installation taken out and reinstalled. Why? Mold resistant drywall was not used in the shower area and there was no backing in the installed shower pieces. We also found the the size of the vanity and the faucet bought were wrong sizes. It's a 150 sq. ft. bathroom. Additional out-of-pocket expenses: Medicine cabinet, new faucet, sink pipes/plumbing, window, mold resistant drywall, vanity lights. These items were all included in the original scope of service. We were left with a demolished bathroom and key pieces to the renovation (that were already paid for in full) missing. We are pursuing legal options and working on documentation. All this work is a hassle. We haven't been able to reach Lloyd to get the refund. Writing this review so others don't go through what we are going through.
