From start to finish, Island Shutters provided excellent customer service with almost unheard of expeditious delivery and installation. I am elated with the final results. I only take the time to either post reviews for exceptional or poor service. This post is for exceptional service, product knowledge, warranty and very competitive pricing. If I'm not mistaken Island Shutters has been under the same ownership/management for at least 26years! My first encounter with them has been about 18 years. I met them through Home Depot. They installed those white plantation style window shutters. All 12 windows are still looking like brand new! The material they use are of great quality and termites do not like this material!!! I just had 1 window that for some odd reason I never had it done. I recently changed out that window and wanted the same window shutter installed. I actually went pricing around including Home Depot and decided to go back to Island Shutters. Again got great service from Lorraine who came out to survey and measure. She has a wealth of knowledge regarding shutters! Lopaka came and installed within an hour. I highly recommend Island Shutters!!! Thank you Lorraine for keeping this valuable product! read more

Lorraine came out to present their products and educate us on the shutter industry. She was precise and communicated well. We settled on type of shutters and the rest is history. Kenya kept close communication and sent us a proposal and we signed up. Soon after we scheduled installation and Lopaka their installer was awesome. He was super professional, he was thorough and his craftsmanship was impeccable. We were totally satisfied with the outcome and will continue to do the rest of the house soon. In honesty, they are not the cheapest, but you definitely get what you pay for, a high quality product!!!... We highly recommend Island shutters to all!!!! Mahalo nui loa, Mark and Carly read more

We love our plantation shutters from Island Shutters! It makes us feel like we're in a new house! We worked with Lorraine and she helped us to find the shutters that fit with the style of our home. She also worked with our budget. There were so many things to consider, but Lorraine was very thorough and made sure that we had all the information we needed to make the right choice. Our installer was Lopaka. You could tell that from the time he arrived that he knew what he was doing. He was so efficient and unobtrusive. He was so friendly and courteous too! We enjoyed working with him as well. Everything went so smoothly from start to finish. I highly recommend Island Shutters if you're in the market for new shutters read more

If you're shopping for plantation style shutters then look no further and give Island Shutters a call. They are the best, hands down! Value, quality, workmanship, and above all customer service. Much mahalo to Bronson and Loraine for the excellent and quick time frame on the estimates and installation appointment. And an even bigger mahalo to Lopaka who did an outstanding job on the actual install of our shutters. All of the shutters look amazing, but I cannot thank you enough on the extraordinary and exceptional job that you did with the sliding glass door shutter system. It is really amazing how you built it out and just made it look fantastic. You are exceptional at your trade and an even more exceptional person who is passionate about what you do. It shows in your work ethic and I truly appreciate that. You guys are the best and I will recommend your services to everyone looking to upgrade to shutters. Aloha & Mahalo! Alan & Tracy read more

We contacted Island Shutters and we are so pleased with them. Lorraine Iwasaki did an excellent job explaining options (styles, colors) and our shutters look great. We placed our order on Nov. 1 and they were installed on Nov. 8. How's that for quick service? Quality and workmanship #1. I just got my whole downstairs area covered in plantation shutters- eek! And I couldn't be happier with how they came out! Thank you Brandon for the estimate, Lorraine for making the payment process easy & Sean for the installation and for keeping my floors clean :) Everyone was so sweet, it made the process so trouble-free. We even got a 20 year warranty! Which is great for my growing family. All plantation shutters are custom made for each window and they complement the house so well! I like that the pieces are made in Kapolei- not in China or any other place. Our Hawaii, salt watery, air can damage things not made to sustain in these conditions so it's nice to know they're built here! read more

We are extremely happy with Island Shutters. Our shutters came out beyond our expectations. Lorraine came out several times to make sure our shutters were the way we wanted it. Look no more! Island Shutters is the way to go. Lopaka installed 9 window shutters along with sliding door shutters, and did a great job at it! I was expecting maybe two or more guys to do installation but it was just him. Super friendly and professional. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised when we received a call from Kenya that they are able to install 1 week earlier than what we was initially told. End result is on point. I am in love with these shutters. Even though Island Shutters is on the pricier side in comparison to other window shutter companies we've looked at, it was all worth it. Timing was perfect and installation was a breeze! read more

My wife really wanted plantation shutters for our new condo in downtown. We checked around and considered Lowe's and another competitor. We went with Island Shutters because they manufacture the shutters on island with the Hawaiian sun and humidity in mind. They are very busy and we had to schedule installation 2 months out, but it was definitely worth the wait. Installation was solid and with the smallest details accounted for. Nail holes patched and touched up, caulking completed to make a seamless look, and measurements were dead on even with the imperfections of the building. The shutters are of great quality and look beautiful. We opted for the track system so that all the shutters can be pushed out of the way to enjoy the view. Cutting the parts in the condo was done cleanly and the installer did not get any dust to fly around the condo. He captured it all with a shop vac under a drape. Bronson and team were professional from beginning to end. From initial consultation, contract signing, final measurements, scheduling, installation, and cleanup. Wife is 110% satisfied and I am blown away with the final product! The shutters are now a permanent fixture in our home and I see the tangible increase in our property's value! read more

By far one of the best purchases I've ever made (two bedrooms and living room windows). Everything about these shutters, communication, and install was flawless. Every time I needed a question/reply answered, Lorraine was on top of her game. She was very fast and professional. She came to the house to do the measurements herself and brought examples of what they had so we could compare it in our own home. That in itself was a stress relief, because we got to see exactly what we wanted and how it would look. Lopaka installed these shutters, and I must say he was not only professional but he had a great personality as well. He was very informative and had that "aloha" spirit to him. The best part through all of this whole process is the fact that they made all of this happen with the pandemic going on. Island shutters did not disappoint in any way and I'm happy for the product/quality/professionalism that I paid for. I never leave positive reviews unless it's well deserved. These guys deserve it and I will be sure to recommend them to anyone looking to upgrade their home. Thanks again! read more

Island shutters has been great from start to finish. I was impressed with every single member of their team that I interacted with. Super friendly, professional, and I would highly recommend. We ordered shutters for our entire two story house, and the finished product is high quality and looks absolutely beautiful. The process itself was painless. I called the office to inquire about an estimate and spoke to Kenya. She answered all my questions and quickly sent Bronson out. Bronson came over, did measurements, and I had my estimate within the week. They are very busy so we booked immediately and waited almost 8 weeks for the install. Seems like a long time, but it was definitely worth the wait. I cannot rave enough about the installers - Lopaka and Shawn were super friendly and did fabulous work. The install went smoothly even though I had to have them make some last minute adjustments due to my error in having AC units installed too close to the frame of my windows. They worked tirelessly all day to make sure that the majority of the job was completed on day one. Support this local business - you won't be disappointed. I very rarely leave reviews, but these guys were so impressive I felt the need to yell it from the rooftops. Or at least leave a great yelp review :) read more

Mahalo Island Shutters for over 7 years of outstanding service and support for our shutters! We installed our shutters incrementally based on need and finances during this time. Lorraine has been with us every step of the way from meeting us at a trade show, coming to our home to do the on site consultation and measurements, updating quotes as needed for our different projects, and to finally completing our final room's shutters this month. Lorraine, your kindness and integrity have kept us loyal over the years, and we truly appreciate working with you. On this final project, Kenya in admin and Shawn our installer provided exceptional customer service and shared so much aloha with us. Both of them have been wonderful to work with. Island Shutters was an excellent experience throughout the entire process. Our neighbors had Island Shutters install their shutters a number of years ago and they were very pleased and said that it still is in fine condition. We called them and Mark first came to help us with measuring and selecting the shutters. Lorraine came later to check on our selection since she was sick that day. Island Shutters are made here at their factory so it's faster to get your shutters! The very next week our shutters were ready to be installed. Chuck and Lopaka came to install shutters. They were nicely dressed, worked efficiently and very personable even to our dogs! They cleaned up nicely too. We are very happy with the results! We initially were going to just do shutters for living room, dining, patio door and master bedroom. Then looking at the reasonable cost, added another bedroom's window . Even the receptionist, Kenya, was so helpful and so nice to speak to. Thank you Island Shutters! read more

My husband found island shutters on Yelp and they were very responsive and professional. Bronson came to measure and provide the options. They provided the quote right away and set up the installation. We changed our order a couple times and they were more than willing to accommodate. The two guys who came to install were outstanding. The windows went up in half a day but the sliding doors took a bit longer Bc they custom made everything on the spot. The finish is flawless and we are very pleased. read more

I went through Home Depot services for my interior shutter project with Island Shutters and it was one of the best decisions I've made. Cheryl had constantly communicated with me throughout the whole process, starting with scheduling an appointment for Lorraine to take measurements. When Lorraine came, she took her measurements in a matter of minutes and showed us the options from the sizes of the panels to finishes of paint. My husband and I chose the largest sized panel, I believe it was the 4 in with a premium finish and security latches. After measurements were taken, their warehouse went on to cut and make the final products. What I absolutely love is that everything is made on Hawaii, so if any measurements are slightly off (which did happen in my case because the kitchen faucet) they can easily fix it in a day or so. Shawn is the man who installed all the shutters for us and what I thought was very considerate of him was that he saved the master bedroom for last because I had mentioned my husband came home that morning from a night shift. Even after everything was installed, both Cheryl and Lorraine has followed up with me to see if I was satisfied with my new shutters. The shutters were installed a couple of months ago but I finally got around to writing their 5 star review. My husband and I will definitely be going back here when we're ready to install shutters for our sliding doors. read more

Installer was helpful that is why I'm giving them two stars. The first individual Branson who measured obviously didn't measure correctly. Thought everything was done correctly cause he came to our house TWICE to supposedly measure. Paid the high price almost $17k for custom window/door shutters but then told during installation that I have to change my door knob ‍ or they can't install the door shutters and tell me we don't have a shutter for a front facing window that I asked for during our estimate & second visit (but I guess that's my fault cause I didn't double check) I waited 2 months..honestly wish I went with the lower bid. I went with them because of the good reviews, they claim to be on island & guarantee their work but I couldn't even install the door shutters and my only option was change my door knob or they we refund my money for the door. read more

Island Shutters - before and after Island shutters! - Shutters Near Me

From start to finish, Island Shutters is a 5-star company. After getting estimates from three other companies, Island Shutters won me over with their customer service, price and timeliness. While many other shutter companies take 5-8 weeks to install from the time you pay your deposit, Island Shutters only takes 3 weeks. The timeline was important for me because I had moved into a townhouse with no window coverings. I did not want to wait nearly two-months before I could get some privacy and I was not willing to waste money on temporary drapes. While doing the measurements, Lorraine brought samples of each type of shutter they offer (different sizes and different casings/trim) so it was very easy to envision what their products would look like in my home. She was also quick to send a detailed estimate (with a nice discount for first time homeowners) unlike some other companies that gave me a ballpark estimate. After I decided to choose Island Shutters, Cheryl clearly communicated payments and the installation date. My installer was Sean and he did an excellent job squaring out the shutters in my windows that are very, very not squared. Installation was quick and Sean cleaned up very well. I am definitely glad I went with Island Shutters! read more

I am completely thrilled with my new shutters. It all began with a phone call to secure an appointment for measurements. Lorraine came out and when she arrived at our house, we were in the middle of renovations. Dust and yuck everywhere did not deter Lorraine from completing her measurements. She then spoke to me about my options and I learned an incredible amount of information that I never knew before. We had quotes from other places but decided to go with Island Shutters. Quite honestly, the whole reason was the impact Lorraine made that day, her patience and professionalism won me over! Lopaka was our installer and he was an army of one! What an outstanding job this young man did in one day! Thank you so much Island Shutters team! We looooooove our shutters! read more

Island Shutters - My beautiful Island Shutters!! - Shutters Near Me

Highest quality workmanship with everything manufactured locally. Most wooden shutters available in HI today are manufactured in Chinese/SE Asian sweat shops and shipped by container to the mainland and then back to Hawaii via Jones Act shipping which makes the costs relatively competitive (aka 'close'). Additionally, the imported shutters clearly lack the fit and finish of the shutters that are manufactured by local workers at Island Shutters in Kapolei, HI. Even the double framing of Island Shutters is a clearly superior product to the imported models (painting was another item that was flawless, it appeared to be sprayed as you would coat a car vs. the hand brushed, cheaply screwed to the wall import versions I installed 15 years). I was amazed at the work that Shawn (installer) performed, the two each highly customized double shutters (you see one in my picture) took nearly 7 hours to install because of the exterior double framing process used. Lorraine (part-owner) was a delight to work with and always kept me up-to-date on my job (please note custom shutters are not items you buy at big-box stores, so patience is needed). read more

Thank you so much for all you did to make our home so beautiful and modern and refreshed with your Island Shutters. Lopaka was meticulous, professional, friendly and courteous but also informative and went beyond the call when we noticed something to change. He had an immediate solution and managed to get it all done today. Your products are beautiful and the craftsmanship was measured so exactly it was impressive. Truly amazing craftsmanship and artisanship!! Thank you very much for all your work. Island Shutters deserves your 5-star reputation.!! Price wise I thought you would be the most expensive because of the quality but another estimate I received from Discount Doors & Windows was twice as much and they didn't seem to have the personal attention. So, you are a 5-star local company making the shutters here in Kapolei which makes warranties easy and I love supporting a local manufacturing business, not just a local sales business. I had my living area shutters installed today: 2 sliding doors and 4 long windows. From Cheryl scheduling my appointment, to my consultation with Lorraine, to the installation today (done by Lopaka)... the customer service and delivery of service was top notch. I had contacted another company, who had really good reviews, but didn't feel we were a good match. I reached out to Island Shutters and as soon as I met with Lorraine, I knew Island Shutters was the right choice for me. Lorraine is very knowledgable, professional, and thorough during the consultation. She brings samples and does an excellent job of educating clients about their shutters, etc. She's not pushy, at all, and is very easy to talk to. On top of the great customer service, they make their shutters locally, so I was able to get mine installed only 17 days after accepting the proposal, which was awesome because other companies quoted 4-8 weeks because their products had to be made/shipped from off-island. I like that my shutters are made locally, not only because I like to support local businesses, but if I ever need work done on them... it's easier to get it done locally by the people who made them. Their prices are only slightly higher than companies who ship from off-island. In my opinion, it's not enough of a savings to wait for such a long time to get something from off island that you can get locally. They also use a top coat that prevents the shutters from getting scratched up. Installation - Lopaka called to let me know he was on his way. As soon as he arrived, he went straight to work. He was very professional, well-mannered, and a diligent worker. I could tell he knew what he was doing and showed great attention to detail. He re-measures and cuts some pieces for the shutters on-site so that everything fits precisely. Because I had 2 sliding doors and 4 large mirrors, he had to work all day, but he did it with a great attitude, and I was so happy with the final products! I highly recommend this company if you're interested in getting shutters installed; you will not be disappointed! Thank you so much, Lorraine, Lopaka, and Cheryl!! God bless! read more
