Island Pediatrics is fantastic. Dr. McMahon makes himself available 24/7 to his patients. Highly recommend.

However, over time, probably since the move to the new office, he became quite brief w/ exams. While wait times were never more than a few minutes, the time he spent actually examining was minimal at best. Appointments were like revolving doors- patient in patient out. His body language said it all- feet and shoulders pointed to the door during any conversation, as if to say, "lets hurry this up, I have more patients to see." Again, this was not the case in the beginning but occured after the move to the new office. This all came to a head when I took my daughter to him (3 yr old) when she was sick. We didn't know what was wrong. She was running a fever on & off, complained about stomach aches. She was very, lethargic- not the usual illness. Leuzzi did an exam, checked her belly etc. When I mentioned the lethargy, he questioned if she was just tired. I said I didn't think so. He replied, "Well the physical exam doesn't show anything." He wasn't rude but his dismissive tone was clear. The next day was worse. My daughter could barely walk. We took her to a walk-in. They told us to take her to the ER-that it could be her appendix. After getting a bunch of tests, we were told it could be a # of things (cancer was one possibility ) but they didn't have the expertise to deal with it, so they sent us to Cohen's. To make this part brief, our daughter had surgery that morning to remove a cyst that was wrapped around her ovary. She ended up losing about 20% of an ovary. She made a full recovery and that ovary is still functional. The whole experience was just emotionally draining for all of us Where Leuzzi was concerned, we didn't get ANY call from him thereafter until Monday. The surgery Sunday am. His 3 yr old patient had surgery, but he couldn't bother to check on her until the week started. She spent all day and night Sunday in a hospital bed, connected to tubes, etc, w/ nary a word from dr... what is more, the message he left when called Monday afternoon seemed & once again, brief. Something to the effect of "It's Dr. Leuzzi, call me back." This was a MAJOR disappointment. We were more hurt than angry. Getting a diagnosis wrong was not our major concern. The issue for us was the quick exams w/ rarely any time to ask questions. We changed drs. We agonized over it b/c we liked him. That event was the final straw. Changing pediatrician's was not borne out of this event alone but the culmination of months and months of... neglect during exams. When asking the staff to send the records to our new pediatrician they sent wrong material. After months of back and forth, (including phone calls from our new pediatrician, myself and my wife), one of the staff member's told my wife that the doctor's notes are only sent at the discretion of the doctor, that the files were in storage so would take some time. They were insensitive to the fact that we needed them for school. I mention this because another review said the exact same thing was told to her. In fact the secretary told my wife, "In 30 years I never had issues like this with former patients." It was as if their attitude was punitive. While not sending notes is certainly his right, I think it is also reflective of a hostile attitude--one that perhaps puts money over the patient. Because our money was no longer going to them, we became more dispensable than ever. And yes, Leuzzi was never rude to us directly, but his staff is a reflection of him and his practice. The issues are systemic. It is clear to us that Leuzzi's way of doing business became just that--a business. If this review were just about likability, it would be five stars. If you want a Dr. w/ a friendly face & an amiable, easy-going personality, go w/ Leuzzi. But if you want someone willing to spend time with you and your kids, to answers all questions, and truly listen, I would strongly suggest going elsewhere.

Since the day we left the hospital the only pediatrician my little one has seen is Dr Philip…read more(Philip Grebowiec, MD). He's extremely patient, especially having to deal with an anxious first time parent(s) like me. Even with the pack appointments he does not rush us or anything. Aside from his great care and expertise, he's also very empathetic based on his own experience. Also as the appointments are not as frequent anymore; Dr Philip does encourage us to contact them if there are any questions before the next wellness visits. The front desk and assistances are all very nice. I never had any problem with them and the facility is clean. It does get busy and sometimes you might have to wait a bit from your appointment time but it's worth it. Also the Tribeca Pediatrics practice is great and their members portal is helpful and they send you milestones news monthly. No complaints!

Dr. Moore has been extremely patient and kind with all our questions. I never felt rushed and she is so personable, sometimes I wish she was my family doctor. Our whole family loves her, I recommended more friends to come to this clinic. Thank you Dr. Moore and Tribeca Pediatrics! P.S. - private rooms are a plus.

We love this office! Switched after going to a competitor (wont name them but they're on Richmond…read moreAve and victory blvd) after we waited for 3 hours in the waiting room for a sick visit one day, and felt like cattle in a farm. Pediatric health care always gives same day sick appointments and even has Saturday hours until 2pm. My daughter's first well visit here at the age of 3 was the most comprehensive one she's had. I love that they take you right into the exam room so you are not waiting in a gross waiting room, and the longest we've waited in the exam room was about 25min. The doctor is actually listen and answer all questions, and we never felt rushed. Give them a try- truly a unique gem in the pediatric world

Shocked at the bad reviews…read more I have brought my 3 year old son here since he was 2 months old. I've seen probably 5 of their doctors but fell in love with Dr. Zachilli. She's been our go to for 2 years, very bubbly personable and attentive. She very clearly cares and always does what's needed to help us. My son adores her. Even the PA's and NP's are great. Yes, front desk definitely lack any joy and really never smile but I never felt like they were dismissive or rude to us. Just very short and straightforward. What the front desk lack, the back of house makes up for by a lot. I agreed they could definitely make it a little more kid friendly and put up some cute decor. I haven't even noticed this until I saw a review about making it kid friendly but it's post Covid times so it's just not something I'd expect plus they barely have the space in lobby for it. That's not a big deal to me. If you want to see a good doctor, this is a good office. I'm not coming there to be friends with the front desk. I just expect to be assisted with my families needs and be seen. I have always been able to get a sick visit day of.
