I urge everyone to avoid this medical office, which operates in a shady manner and seems mainly…read moreconcerned with extracting as much money as possible from its customers, even if doing so is unethical. I signed up for an annual physical, during which I had my blood drawn. I received quite a shock when I received the bill. In addition to charges for the physical and blood draw, I received charges for a second office visit, an after hours visit, and a mental health assessment, none of which I consented to. I called the billing office and asked for an explanation. They said the after hours charge was because my visit was at 5 p.m. The mental health assessment because I filled out a paper mental health form (which was never discussed with me). And the second office visit because I asked the doctor a few questions about my health. I explained that I had never consented to these extra services. They removed the after hours charge "as a courtesy" (like they're doing me a favor or something), but said the other charges stood and that my consent was not necessary. It took three and a half months and six phone calls, but finally the billing office agreed to the drop the charge for the second office visit, again "as a courtesy." One false charge remains, but I'm not contesting it because insurance covered the full cost. In any case, I certainly won't return to this medical office, and I urge everyone else to avoid it as well.

The last time I went, 1 week ago, I asked for a health form for my daughter's school. My English is not perfect, and I know I did not pronounce it well when I asked the receptionist who was there, (Latina, black hair and glasses) she kind of laughed when she heard me speak in english Then, she spoke in Spanish but nobody can take away the bad moment and embarrasement I felt. Maybe I don't speak English well, but she as a worker and I as a local client should have been treated with more respect, because "I didnt make fun of her weight." *sarcastic

Silver Lake Hospital has been a blessing for my mom and me. She arrives in very poor condition, yet…read morethe care she receives is outstanding. The medical team, therapists, staff, management, and even the security officers are incredibly kind, professional, and attentive, and they always make us feel safe and supported. I am given a private room with my mom and a sofa so I can stay overnight and help care for her, which brings me so much comfort. After a very difficult experience at another hospital in Brooklyn, the compassion here has helped me heal emotionally and trust the healthcare system again. Everyone--from the doctors and nurses to the physical, occupational, and respiratory therapists, nutritionists, and security--treats my mom like their own family and truly focuses on her recovery. I strongly recommend Silver Lake Hospital to anyone who wants their loved one to receive excellent care and recover as quickly and comfortably as possible. Yana Veda Nadezhda Vedritskaya

Thanks to her, my son and I are leading healthy lives. I have to agree with some of the reviews about the abrupt desk staff, but the place is a very busy practice and they are trying to help out a lot of ladies. So, I give the staff a break. In addition, the nurse practioners and midwives are kick-ass knowledgeable practioners who you want on your side when the sh*t goes down. They also provide training and hold graduation ceremonies for the program participants. A lot of community support is received both financial and volunteers. It's never enough. The medical expenses and the nature of the illness are costly. Individuals need training, housing, social activities, as well as clothing and food. This organization has been around for many years. It's superior in my book. If you're looking for a non-profit to support then you have my personal and professional blessing when you support ASC. I'm donating my unopened medications to them. Such outstanding healthcare naturally requires a great team. And the amazing front office team at AHF, led by Nurse Manager Doreen Nolan and Practice Manager Shamon Knight, ensure that the practice runs like a well orchestrated symphony --coordinating with doctors, providers, insurance, patients, 3rd parties -- so that patients' needs are continuously met. Without their efforts and all of the front office team this quality of care at AHF would not be possible. We don't feel like patients here. We feel like family. And that's what makes AHF Midtown unique. They really care.
