First, I would like to start off with the service. I can't remember the staff members name that took my order, but she was so friendly and very knowledgeable when answering my questions about the establishment and events that they host. They have a DJ Booth and bar at the location with an outdoor patio with seating setup. They were also very fast and efficient from taking my order to me receiving it, I was there less than 10 minutes. That alone gained my repeat business. Now the food, the moment she brought my food to me before bagging it she allowed me to review the plate before bagging it and the aroma of the oxtails let me know that I was in for a treat. They were tender and super flavorful which I thoroughly enjoyed, quite honestly they were the best oxtails I have had in Arizona this far and highly recommend. The Mac and Cheese was nice and dense, super cheesy but not oily which I really enjoyed. Overall, I definitely recommend and I will definitely be back to try the other sides and entrees that they offer. This may just be one of my new favorites for Jamaican cuisine. read more

Food was good. Dine in experience was not. Ambiance was not good. Alleged Jamaican flag outside was black and white. Guy behind bar was loudly talking on his cell and ignoring customers. Just as we were getting ready to leave we finally got service. The curry chicken and curry goat were good. Plantains were not worth the extra cost. If not for the flavor of the entrees we would rate this place one star. Ordered two adult beverages and wished we hadn't. They showed up when we were more than halfway thru our meal. It's a Caribbean Restaurant, informal place, for a bite to eat. They have lunch specials, which end at 1 PM. You cannot order them after 1 o'clock. That means your order must be in by 1 PM. The Grill is inside a small shopping center. It faces east. You will not see it easily from the road. It blends in too well with the surrounding stores. The interior is clean. The single small bathroom is immaculate. There is a picture to prove it. The server was attentive. The food was prepared in a reasonable amount of time. In the party of five, no one complained about how spicy it was. There was discussion about it, but they all ate what was served. The fish sandwich comes with lettuce and tomato on a roll. The fish was a fillet of tilapia. It was not the least bit spicy. They serve it with both Ketchup and Mayonnaise on the side. The flavoring shows they want to please the American Pallet: little or no spice, no heat and cooked to perfection. This is a good place to stop for lunch or dinner. A true small business. Service is good. Inside is very simple and a little run down. The door was wide open the whole time we were there so the inside was pretty cold. Menu was limited. They play pretty loud religious music the whole time. We got the oxtail and curry chicken. The food was okay. Food comes out fast. The curry chicken was salty and did not have potatoes. It was much darker in color than most curry chicken. The oxtail had many broken bone pieces. The rice and steamed cabbage / vegetables was good. It's pretty expensive of a joint given the quality of food / experience and size of portions. There are better Jamaican food options in the valley. read more

Amazing dishes that i ordered, very pricey though i paid over 40$ for a beer, medium sized main dish which was Oxtails with a side, ordered a extra side which was mac & cheese (10$) it was À la carte (huge portion) probably top 3 in Phoenix. had leftovers. This place probably has the worst customer service I have experienced in Arizona is along time. Would have been our first time trying them but was so disappointed by the staff and the lazy girl at the counter that we just walked out. I will never give my hard earned money to any business that at the least can't even speak to you upon entering and make you feel like you entering is a bother. Mind you a whole bottle of ginger beer says it's $4.25. I got maybe 1/5 of it for my drink since they didn't leave me the bottle. So you mean to tell me that shot of regular rum cost $13? When Island Gill first opened the food was exceptionally good that's when the Bald head beautiful women were there. After she left, I took my brother who visited me in Phoenix 2 months ago the OX tails were dried up, the rice tasted like it was days old and the customer service was horrible. I decided to give another chance yesterday. I ordered a beef patties and coco bread and it was the worst I ever tasted When I took a look at my receipt when I got home, and they charged me for two beef patties when I only ordered one. I have Jamaicans who married into my family I love and been to Jamaica on several occasions and I have tasted authentic Jamaican food. I'll never go back to Island Grille again. What I think is because they don't get a lot of business, they use the food that's left over from the following days, and it doesn't taste as fresh. read more

It was bad from the time they dropped off the Menus at my job. Seeing a new restaurant open in the area was exciting. The whole department was excited, so we called, placed an order, received an estimated time and arrived at the restaurant. Upon arriving our food was not ready and some of the items ordered was not available at all. Due to only being on a lunch break, we had to cancel our order after waiting 20 mins and return to work without food. Our 2nd experience went a little better b/c we this time we only had to wait about 15 mins, but chicken was raw in the inside and rice and beans were drier than an Arizona summer. We gave it a third try b/c it's a small black owned business, we placed a small online order and in transit, the restaurant cancelled our order.
