The Oasis Lodge is not a fancy hotel or quaint, expensive bed and breakfast, but if you're looking for a quiet, inexpensive place to stay in the wine country and don't mind a common bathroom, this is a great choice. They also have a nice menagerie, including an albino peacock. read more

If Yelp reviews had headlines, this one would be titled "Rats, need I say more?". Isis oasis lodge and sanctuary is in a secluded location, about 15 minutes from the nearest town. It's beautiful and very quiet here (with the exception of the chickens crowing). They have a clean pool and pretty rooms. However. The group I was with had multiple complaints. My room had no smoke detector (just a bunch of wires hanging out of the wall). The upstairs room (it's sort of dorm style with 12 beds in an open space) had a RAT running around. Most rooms' shades did not block light that streamed in from the fairy lights outside. Many rooms, even with shades closed, were visible from the pool deck. The lock to my door was very difficult to turn. There were several large-spider complaints. Two outlets close to my provided bed did not work; this was a common theme across all rooms. The microwave was FILTHY when we arrived. The floor in my room was clean but under the desk, bed, and other furniture was extremely dusty. The animals as well didn't seem super happy. The bird enclosures especially seem quite small (like not enough space to even fly), and some of the birds were screaming very loudly all night long. Also, terrible spot for any disabled person. The bed was high up. The bathrooms downstairs aren't disability accessible (only upstairs; no elevator). The paths are uneven and not well kept. The wifi is not reliable, but could be a nice place for a secluded retreat (as long as you don't need to bring food-- no fridge or kitchen). Horrid, horrid, HORRID. Me, my mother, roommate, and my mom's boyfriend. They put where we were from (and why) on their Facebook account. Public restrooms, filthy bed and the animals were not healthy AT. ALL. We had to stay there for about 1-2 days. Our bedroom was cold and then BOILING. We had to bring our leopard gecko, tortoise and snake. Our gecko was freezing when all of us woke up. The bedrooms didn't lock by their self; bathrooms didn't lock either (woman). False advertisement too, on their website they said that they were a "hotel" also a getaway. The hot tub was heated and then it was freezing cold in the morning... Heated pool huh? Nope! The button to make the pool heated did NOT work. The electrical socket got PULLED OUT of the wall when we were very gentle when we pulled it out. The electricity was not strong at all. We had two sleep apnea machines which one worked in one specific room because of the "Watts" in the rooms. Me and my mom felt uneasy in the showers\washroom. I know that something was in bed sheets because it felt like something was crawling all over me... I was also up till about 1:30am tossing and turning because it felt like something was watching me. The gentleman who worked there was not doing his job. He kicked our roommate out when doing a business meeting and that Ra (the guy who kicked him out) was doing a "spiritual reading". Ra asked if my mom and her boyfriend were doing drugs (my mom and her boyfriend have been clean for years) he asked, "We found needles in the upstairs restroom, were they in any chance yours?" I love staying in this lodge and prefer it even over the fancier retreat houses available on the property. It's cozy and has a nice community feel. Each room gives a feel for the Goddess it is dedicated to. The hot tub is right near the lodge which makes for a deep sleep after a nice soak. This is my second trip to the Isis oasis. The first time I stayed in the dorms they were very cozy. I really enjoyed the the hot tub and all of the amazing animals! My first visit was at Christmas time 2023. I had a very peaceful day. I got to relax in the hot tub walk around the beautiful grounds at night. I came back in July 2025 I rented a cabin it was very cozy and had a private Jacuzzi. It's always so nice to have a pet friendly place in a very peaceful environment. The alpacas were totally awesome Blondie and blackjack! Can't wait to return.! read more

We came in 5/2023 This place reminds me of a hostal. The big house we stayed in was old old school vibes. There's communal bathrooms and showers. The pool wasn't cleaned the first night but it was the next day. Hot tub was open. Sauna was closed. We enjoyed our stay. It was next to a tasting room and some restaurant. I recently attended a weekend wedding here and loved it! Yeah, it's rustic and not luxurious but I found it comfortable. My room was clean and serene. Be advised, there are spiders and such but that is to be expected out in the country. What really stood out to me, besides the hospitality, was the food....such glorious, abundant and healthy food prepared by the lovely & sweet Linda and her husband (Tony, I think his name is)! Fluffy frittatas, juicy chicken and the most amazing mashed potatoes made with olive oil. The collard greens were the best I've ever had! I'm still thinking about the food! They were very accommodating to those of us with food sensitivities and gluten intolerant. This is a great place to unwind, breathe deep and get in touch with yourself, others and nature. I spent the whole weekend just having long luxurious talks with all the other guests. It was nice to get away from our phones. I would come back here in a heartbeat! read more

2.5 stars? Pretty much all of the 1 star reviews are on point for this place. It's not maintained, unkempt. Cobwebs are literally everywhere, but I never saw a single spider inside. To be fair, we arrived super late and left pretty early, so we didn't spend much time. Never even saw any in the bathroom, and I had to pee several times, so plenty of spider opportunity. The room seemed clean enough, I sniffed the sheets, and they didn't smell used, lol It was so late, and I was so tired I forgot to do the bed bug check, so hopefully that's not a problem. The most disappointing was the poor animals. Tiny unkempt cages, one of the birds was literally trying to dig its way out. The albino Peacock lost 2 feathers just in the 3 minutes we watched them. They were stressed and restless. It was so sad. I can not recommend this place due to the conditions the animals are kept in. We never even saw the ocelots, but after reading the third l reviews, I'm thankful we missed that. I can instances l understand a lack of money coming in making it difficult to maintain some things, but it doesn't take that much to keep animal conditions clean and acceptable. read more

Some of the reviews I've seen on here call it "outdated" but if this place is outdated, then I think the world could stand to get go back in time a little bit. That is one of the best parts of the Isis Oasis. It has a certain kind of charm that so many places are lacking. You can feel the heart and soul of the place. It feels like a place that has a story. Isis is a revered Egyptian Goddess, a nurturer, a healer, and a wise goddess. The Isis Oasis Lodge/Sanctuary is dedicated to her. My husband and I stayed here just two weeks ago on my first trip to Northern California. We had come up for the Neil Gaiman reading in nearby Santa Rosa, and found this spot through Air BNB. We booked in to the gingerbread house, and only after we booked, drove 9 1/2 hours, and pulled onto the property did I realize what a treat we were in store for. The location is just lovely. Some of the buildings are a little worn down, but the place is overall kept up very well. We had a little trouble finding the office to check in, but once we did, we were greeted by Justin and given a map, our keys, and a tour. While on the tour, Justin told us about the history of the place, and how it currently is a resort, a spiritual retreat, a safe haven for people in need of assistance, and an animal sanctuary. We were able to see some of the beautiful birds, but sadly we didn't get to see the cats. Next time. The gingerbread house was exactly as advertised and as I'd imagined it: an adorable tiny house with a bed, a bedside table, a fan, and a small heater. The outdoor shower and bathrooms (flushables) were a short walk away. We were right next to the Hobbit Hut, and shared a picnic table common area with another lovely couple. (who were also there to see Neil!) The bed in the gingerbread house is big enough for two. It wasn't the most comfortable bed I've ever slept on, but it was comfortable enough that we both were able to sleep soundly, and wake up feeling rested. *small note: There were a handful of spiders in the gingerbread house. They were "daddy long legs" and completely harmless. This place IS in the middle of the woods, so you are likely going to see some bugs. This is really more of a "glamping" resort rather than a hotel. Just keep that in mind. It didn't detract from our experience at all. Having never camped before, the outdoor shower was an experience to say the least!! But the water was heated, and it was exhilarating. They have a small temple/sanctuary set up for Isis. I went and payed my respects and had a brief moment of meditation on Sunday morning before we left. In the center of the property, they have a tree, I believe they called the heritage tree, that is over 600 years old. It was magnificent. All in all, this was a lovely experience. The kitchen cook was not very friendly and seemed to act aggressively to his staff while we rented the lodge. The lodge was very loud with old doors that slammed easily from other guests. We tried a plug in the wall and it sparked and did not work at all. I thought the electrical fired my cell phone when it sparked. Hot with no working AC either in the lodge of the dinning area / office / animal sanctuary. We did not sleep well because of this. The bathrooms were very dirty. Over all I would not recommend staying at this place. read more

Planned to spend a weekend at a retreat there but left after first day. Parrot enclosures are full of rats. Saw five rats climbing inside one of the cockatoo cages in broad daylight. Staff responded, "We live in nature. Can't do anything about the rats." This is not true. No bird should be forced to live with rats whose poop has bacteria which is lethal. The cockatoos at this place stick close to the front wire (the rats are in back) so their already small cages in fact only provide a few inches of space for them. These people should not be allowed to keep animals. PS I ran a bird sanctuary and conservation organization for 24 years. I know what is acceptable and what is sub-standard. This place falls into the unacceptable category. read more

This place is repulsive. We stayed in the "nicest" place on the whole property (small 1 bedroom cabin). The other options are a dormitory, hobbit huts (not kidding), and camping in your own tents. It was extremely outdated, had cob webs and spiders throughout, including in the shower, and had rat droppings on the dishes in the kitchen cabinets. It gets worse. Much worse. There were dozens of permanent tents and RVs sprinkled all over the property. It was obvious that the tents have been there for years with junk and permanent fixtures everywhere. It looks like a homeless camp. I later learned it's because people can live there full time for free as long as they volunteer a set amount of hours per week. You can't tell who works there and who doesn't because "staff" wear plain clothes. I can deal with all of the above - what I cannot tolerate is the living condition for all of the exotic animals on site. It's inhumane. The cages (with the exception of the llamas) were too small and didn't allow the animals to move around and exercise. And there was an epic rat infestation. I counted 10 rats in just one bird cage, 8 in another. I also checked on the parrots around 1pm and their food bowls were empty and found they hadn't been fed breakfast by the staff yet! I mentioned what I saw to the lady that was working in the lodge and she said the birds are only fed once a day because of the rat problems, and that they've tried several things to get rid of the rats but haven't been successful - she acknowledged that it's an epidemic. If the staff can't fix it, then they should not be allowed to keep animals onsite. Period. This place should be shut down. If you care at all about the health and well-being of animals, please do not support this place. read more

I've noticed an ongoing trend with campsites, lodges, and hotels in California and especially Northern California. THEY ARE AMAZINGLY MISLEADING. One time I booked a campsite in Point Reyes called Wildcat. Although I did some pretty extensive research beforehand, trying to plan every detail down to the moment we would arrive, what to bring and why, the reviews on Yelp all (literally, all of them) failed to mention that the campsite could only be gotten to after a 6 mile climb OVER A MOUNTAIN. Lesson learned: when people in Northern California say "it's a really nice WALK" what they actually mean is you could die. But this time. This time with Isis Oasis makes me genuinely want to actually EXPLAIN to yelpers so that they know what they're getting themselves into. Because I feel like I missed out on that with the current reviews here. So here goes. Isis Oasis is a campus - a collection of different buildings with different purposes. There is an office/lodge (the only lodge-like thing about the place), a dormitory/warehouse of bedrooms, two private huts, and another barn-like building. And a temple for, you know, cult type shit. The office is filled with plush pillows and couches, a big long dining table, and a wood stove. It smells great inside - there was just one young woman inside when we arrived. She had LITerally no idea we had a reservation. In response to my "I called to let you guys know we'd be late but we're here now" she didn't say any words but rather sighed heavily and picked up her phone to call someone who - surprise surprise - didn't pick up. (I should know, I called them before and wasted one of my best voicemails ever on them). Red Flag #1: These folks do not have their shit together. The "dormitory" is where you will probably stay. It's just a big long building with rooms/doors on either side of a long hallway. There is a shared bathroom in the middle. It may or may not REEK of literal shit inside. It smelled like a couple dozen dogs shit in there and no one did anything about it for....you know, ever. I don't know how else to express how heavy the scent of shit was in the air. When we were showed our room it had two twin beds in it. I explained how this was NOT what I had discussed over the phone and that room would not work. She suggested we look at the nice king sized bed with a jacuzzi upstairs. Sounds good yes? The top floor of the dormitory is like Oliver Twist's orphanage room. There are 20 or so twin sized beds all lined up against the walls, a couple ping pong tables, and a big king sized mattress splayed on the floor in the middle of the room for, you know, group sex activities. There are no walls. Even with no one else staying in the building, period, I still wouldn't have slept in a bed up there. I let her know. She said she could show us the private huts. To do this she needed to get another set of keys from the office. While she was inside I checked my bank account to find they had already charged me for 2 nights stays, which is unsurprising. And since it was a debit card, I wasn't getting that money back. Had I used Amex or something I would simply have immediately called them to let them know that this business was not legit and there was no way I was paying to stay there. But Ned and I were pretty much committed for at least one night. The huts are over a bridge in a little crest. There are two of them next to each other that each sleep two maximum. MAXIMUM. The space shares a picnic table. A little ways away is where you can park your car next to a camper where I assume someone lives. Beyond that is a set of two bathrooms. One has a shower that is "being remodeled" for like I guess the past 10 years. Like how long does it take to get a shower finished, three days? Fucking hippies. Maybe they could use the empty bathtub in the woods behind the Hobbit Hut. Not. Kidding. When we opened the door to the Hobbit Hut we were BLASTED with heat. Turns out the space heater had been on for....I don't know like four days??? Inside there was just enough space for a tiny full sized bed, a couple shelves and some floor space for our bags. The door was locked by a LITERAL chain. Like you close a door, wrap a chain around the handle and hook it onto itself. Fire hazard? I think so. We let the place air out a bit and hung out by the picnic table, sharing details with friends. I already decided we would only be staying one night. When bedtime came, I put a towel down on TOP of the bed linens and then slept underneath my scarf, Ned's hoodie, and his flannel. Sleeping wasn't easy but we slept. In the morning we discovered that it was a miracle we made it through the night considering the illegal-as-fuck wiring in this place. I mean....DUDE. The toilet in the bathroom had good pressure, the shower looked all ready to, you know, work on, and we left at 7am with no place else to go and no concern besides leaving. read more

Upon arrival, we were told to park in a certain area by one resident which immediately turned into unnecessary chaos with some of the other residents complaining about where we parked, despite us following directions. We had a large party stay in the Nesu house which was next door to an old lady's trailer who lives there permanently. She was incredibly intrusive and nosy from the start. The house was disgusting, and I mean disgusting. We called it an Egyptian porn house. This thing looks like it was built in the 70's and has never once been updated or even just maintained. It felt like straight out of a weird horror movie. The decor is repulsive and nothing looked or felt clean. I doubt they vacuumed and they 100% never dust or wipe things down because there are webs literally everywhere. I've never seen so many spiders in a single house before which truly was my worst nightmare. I'd be curious to know how often they have guests...I'd guess not often at all since spiders have literally taken over the house. If you're into living in solitude, worshipping Egyptian Gods, spiders and dirt, then sure, perhaps you won't mind this place. I will never be back. read more

Rustic beauty, magical, fun, intriguing, I highly recommend this experience, as it is simply delightful

First off, the Pharaohs Chamber is not a room! it's has no locking door, or a door at all, no key for the space. it's a large stuffy loft: with no central AC, one swamp coolers and one wall unit. The bathrooms are disgusting, old hair, shower supplies from past residents, spiders, rat droppings and spide webs. There is no cleaning through out the property. No landscaping, grounds keeping or facilities cleaning. There is no AC, this area is hot and does not have adequate air and ventalation in the Pharaohs chamber. Bed linen was gross, never washed, no clean linen. Poor lighting and the pool table had no good cues or chalk. Dust and spider webs everywhere! This place is not ADA accessible at all!!! no ramps, no shower stability bars, pool lift, and again no cleaning of common areas. Bugs in the community fridge, dead bugs and live bugs everywhere inside our room. Only plus is the body freedom/clothing optional pool. Pool is slightly heated, jacuzzi not hot at all. BBQ grill is gross, not clean at all and no grilling tools. This is not a resort, or even a 2 star motel rating. The experience is best described "glamping" with bathrooms and showers similar to camp sites and porta-potty vibes. I would not stay here again. if they remodeled the place, had cleaning and hospitality service, clean linen, bathrooms and common areas, I might consider staying again if a lot improved. read more

My girlfriend and I were going to a wedding in the next town over and thought that this would be a good place to stay. It seemed reasonably priced and it had rave reviews on airbnb. Upon arrival we immediately realized that this place was "special". The buildings looked fairly run down and there were what looked like homeless encampments spread out around the propperty. Trailers that had been parked for what looked like months with garbage strewn about around them. Checking in took a while due to the fact that nobody really gave us an idea of where to go to check in. My girlfriend and I were standing around for about 15 minutes or so before we stumbled into a small office inside of the communal lunch room. Although the person helping us was relatively nice, she did not practice good hygiene. We were told where our room was and were sent on our way. She would have shown us the room but she was busy "trying to finish a project". It was very hard to tell who worked there and who didn't. Everyone seemed very standoffish. The room was very small and smelled both musky and stale. Our front door key would not lock from the outside, so we had to put our stuff in our car when we left for the wedding. We did not bring this to their attention during our stay, so I can't really blame them for not knowing. The communal bathrooms were not very clean. There were lots of spiders in the ladies room. By far the WORST part of our stay was the fact that we woke up at around 6am with our backs in pain. Out of curiosity I lifted up the mattress cover to see what we were sleeping on... TWO FOAM PADS STACKED ON TOP OF ONE ANOTHER! There wasn't a mattress! We left right when we woke up. We aren't the kind of people that write a whole lot of reviews, but we think people need to know what they're getting into. We paid $130 for the night. Never. Again. read more

Originally found this place by accident and could not be happier. I stayed in the Hobbit House with my girlfriend and had our own private escape from the rest of the world. We looked to other hotels and AirBNBs in the area and we shocked that we might spend over $100 at Motel 6, or $150 for a room in someones apartment. At Isis Oasis, you will have a truly unique experience with helpful and genuinely kind staff. The owner Loreon was always available and helped us with whatever we needed. We met their chief architect Miguel, who built the Hobbit House, as well as their animal wildlife and rescue expert Jim who took us to see their exotic cats, twice. Did they mention that they have exotic cats? Got to get up close and personal with servals, ocelots and a bobcat named Moffit who cuddled all over me and drooled on my shoes. You can walk the grounds and see other exotic birds, hang out in their hammock or take a dip in their pool/hot tub. There are also numerous fire pits, outdoor chairs and benches for relaxing. Again, the staff will help meet whatever your request is, and has loads of other handy things in their office and restaurant. This place is great for anyone, any couple or any group seeking to do something different and is comfortable getting little weird. I say that because if you are not comfortable with sharing a bathroom or using a communal kitchen, you probably are better off paying the wine region premium for motel/hotel. If however, you want a unique experience, at a reasonable price, within proximity to many vineyards, then I would make sure that you don't miss this place. read more

I found out about this place via Airbnb.com and stayed at the cabernet cabin. Pros: - the cabin was in a secluded area of the land - lots of cool exotic looking animals - loved the cabin's bathroom (marbled) - walking distance to nearby restaurant Diavola Pizzeria (they serve really good pasta, haven't tried their pizza) - also in walking distance to liquor store if you wanted to get you're ingredients for a drink in the jacuzzi - the cabin comes with a private hot tub (we didn't use it though bc we didn't know how to make it hotter) - loved that there was a TV/DVD player/cable. - There is a sauna, pool, and jacuzzi near the office, but the pool isn't heated. The jacuzzi works. But the in order to heat the sauna, you need to put one of the knob # to a low #...like 2. - Loreon was such a great host...she even left the fireplace on in the cabin for us before our arrival. Cons: - no window curtains at the cabernet cabin at all. I didn't like the sun being able to wake me up at 7am through the uncovered windows on my "vacation". If we weren't in a "secluded" area of the land, I'd have a problem with this bc I don't want to be changing or showering and there are no curtains available to provide privacy. At least the large window in the bathroom fogs up when you shower. read more

This place is a gem! Even when it is pouring rain ;) Miguel, the guardian greeted my husband and I upon arrival. He gave us everything he could to make us feel 100% welcome. Great sauna, jacuzzi, and breath taking property. The gingerbread house was delightful!!!! Handmade & created by Miguel too. Also, showering outside? So refreshing. Amazing energy! The Isis Oasis, which is dedicated to the goddess, Isis, is a magical little retreat center tucked away in Geyserville. I've been a huge fan of the Egyptian mysteries, so I was totally drawn to the Egyptian influence around the whole facility. Isis Oasis is home to animal rescues of bugs, reptiles, alpacas, exotic birds, and wild cats. The ornamental pheasants and African cranes were my favorites. DeTraci, who is the current owner of the facility, is such a sweetheart. She guided me and my friend through the wild cat area and the vivarium. She showed such tenderness to the animals, and she was also very knowledgeable about each one. If you get the chance to meet DeTraci, ask her about the incredible history of the Isis Oasis and how the vision of the retreat center was started by the original owner, Lorleon. My friend and I booked a room at the Cabernet Cabin, which is one of the many lodging accommodations at the Isis Oasis. The cabin was so cute and quaint, and it was quipped with a full kitchen, dining table, bathroom, guest room, master bedroom, hot tub, entertainment center (i.e. TV, board games, and books), and clean bathroom. One of the gems in the entertainment center was the Jumanji board game! What's up 90s?! Wi-Fi was free, but the only signal I could get was from the living room. Even then the Wi-Fi was very spotty from there. The insulation in the cabin wasn't that great and didn't stand a chance against the cold. During the weekend we were at the cabin, the temperature dropped to 30' F. The indoor heating wasn't working, so we had to make the best out of the 3 space heaters in the cabin and the extra blankets we found in the closet of the master bedroom. I have to admit that the guest room was a bit creepy. It's accessible through the kitchen, but it's in a secluded part of the cabin. read more

Skip it. A temple is supposed to be serene and welcoming. I only met the boy and man o man did he have a problem with me from the first sight. I found this place on Airbnb, it is advertised as a semi hostel type motel with a temple and some animals as a sanctuary. I put in my dates and this place popped up as available. I called, the voicemail said they couldn't get to the phone but would call right back. I called early this morning and never got a call back, I drove over there and right at the entrance it said vacancy. So I pulled in and waited like twenty minutes for him to notice I was there and come to the office. He immediately says he has no rooms? And then when I told him that I found the motel on air B&B he said well we are a temple! Ok but you are advertising as rooms for rent......then he said well we are having a music festival this weekend so I'm booked for the weekend. So I said I only want to stay until Friday morning, he immediately said no, no, I'm booked Thursday night. Ok you don't want me here I get it. Is it because I'm female? So I mentioned that I'd called this morning early and no one ever returned my call and all he had to say was more unwelcoming and rude noise. So I left, drove 100 miles back home. As I was pulling out of town my phone rings and it's him, I answered and he says oh, it's you....yea, I told you I'd left a message, duh. Then he realized he'd been rude and he said I hope you'll try us again some time.....uh, no I don't think so. I don't prefer your high maintenance energy in a place that's supposed to be spiritual, you have the entire wrong attitude! You ruin the entire vibe of the place and not to mention it is literally filthy, the outdoor chars are so gross you couldn't sit on them, who knows what the rooms look like. You could have taken my money for the two days, today is Tuesday, but you had your own agenda. So rock on with that but this place is the last place I'd seek out a spiritual experience. Not worth getting off the freeway for, much less driving 100 miles to try to connect with your mother on her birthday on the other side. I'd get more peace in a slaughter house. read more

Consider this: the owner/high priestess, is pretty darn sure she is a reincarnation of Isis. Isis Oasis is a great place for a group. So good that our company had our annual meeting at IO two years running, and probably would have had a 3rd, but we were 86d permanently after round 2. Ok, the hot tub was more than a little murky, there was some comingling of human flesh (that's where i got together with the mister!), the music was a little loud, substances were abused, but people! This is a place that breeds ocelots, and has a "living unicorn" and nasty peacocks roaming the grounds and all manner of smelly somewhat domesticated "wildlife".... Anyway, 5 stars for Isis for not being able to put up with our shenanigans and blaming it on the "fact" that we "stole folding chairs from the Temple of Isis".....holy mother of osiris, what the h-e-double hockey sticks would a bunch of hedonistic half wits do with folding chairs??? read more

Wow. My friend & I were excited to have a weekend getaway to Isis Oasis. After reading these Yelp reviews about the broken hot tub, dirty accomodations & mistreatment of animals, I reached out to management there 2 days ago-- no call back or email response. After 5 phone calls, still no one called back. Then a rude phone call came tonight the day before our trip from 'Justin" who was beyond nasty to my girlfriend, admitting the hot tub (which you pay for) is still broken after 1 month & we are "not a good fit" since she had the audacity to ask if it is working order. It's Labor Day so clearly our weekend is ruined. It's sad because I know their founder Loreon would not approve of this treatment. Justin should seek employment outside the hospitality industry. And the SPCA should be called to rescue the animals. read more

A place you need to see to believe. A most unusual retreat in the heart of wine country, from the endangered cats and wild birds in the on-site "zoo" to the Egyptian goddess themed rooms, you will not find another place like it. I was merely looking for an inexpensive place to be horizontal for a few hours before getting up early to do the Healdsburg Harvest Century bike ride, an a friend recommended Isis Oasis and told me a bit about the history (ref. TanyaBug's review). Sounded interesting, plus it was only $125 for The Tower, which has it's own bathroom. It ended up being a very restful place, with old but comfortable beds and soft (I'd have to assume Egyptian cotton?) sheets. Don't look for cable TV or coffee makers here, however, there wasn't even an alarm clock in the room. I didn't have time to enjoy the pool or hot tub, but I understand the grounds are pretty neat. Overall, it is like staying at an eccentric, distant aunt's house while driving cross country. And maybe there is something to the spiritual history of the place--I had a dream that night that an old woman told me not to be afraid for my performance the next day, that I would finish the 67 miles, no problem! I woke up feeling confident and rested and finished the ride with a new personal best time. Thank you, Goddess Isis! read more

We camped on the lot and slept in the upstairs room of the lodge for most of the night. This place is unique, with Egyptian decor throughout. It seems a little under maintained but it's still pretty cool. The animals are awesome! I particularly liked the roosters and llamas. They were very active and appeared to be in good health. All the cages seemed a small and dirty though. I enjoyed the fire pits placed throughout the property and the office/eating area was warm and welcoming. Nice little sauna and hot tub. read more

The Isis Oasis is a fascinating Californian destination. It's the ancient Egyptian equivalent to Swami's down in Encinitas. As Swami's attempts to recreate India in the Southland, so does Lady Loreon try to recreate the mysticism of ancient Egypt. There are recreations of temples, and on Sunday afternoons, Lady Loreon gives a tour/discussion. There's a little lodge with each room named for a goddess. There's a zoo of sorts with various cats and birds. It's part zoo/part spiritual retreat, not unlike the City of Ten Thousand Buddhas in Ukiah that's part Buddhist monastery/retreat center/temple/vegetarian restaurant. Isis Oasis is a serene place secreted among the vineyards and redwoods. It's like finding Cairo in Sonoma. A definite Wine Country destination. read more

I tried to book at airbnb for about 4 days with DeTraci. I left also about 4 messages and texted twice. I got a response by text once that said, "call back, I'm busy." I responded then and no response. I finally got one response that the place was booked for a wedding on the weekend I wanted. Ok. I responded with two days available during the week and the response approved one day without any response. I responded if they could provide two days together since we have flexibility. No response. I am bummed with the customer service/responding. I really want to check out this place and edit this review; I know this place is probably a slice of heaven. read more

This is a story about rainbows and butterflies...and oh yeah, bobcats. We booked this place for a friend's birthday weekend and it was perfect. It is in the middle of nowhere, but that adds to the magic. It literally does feel like you've escaped modern day and gone back to ancient Egypt. We all had rooms on the first floor in the main Lodge close to each other. Of course, my room was named "Isis", as is pretty much everything here. By day, we lounged by the pool and sweated it out in the sauna. By night, we enjoyed freshly made pizzas from the clay oven, yummy burgers from the BBQ, and then fun games in the big hall. The next morning, I awakened to an all-you-can-eat breakfast and a tour of the grounds and animal sanctuary. They have some interesting birds (that will talk to you) and a lot of bobcats (some that you can pet) here - great if you're an animal lover or have kids. It was truly a unique experience and a very relaxing, inexpensive getaway. Other pros: + free wifi + easy parking + quick walk to the store to pick up any necessities you forgot read more

When we got home my boyfriend found a tick on him which after going to urgent care was determined to have been in him 24 hours, having to of come from this property. And the tick was identified as the type to carry lyme. After checking our dog, I noticed many fleas. Just something to watch out for . We gave our dog flea meds and a week and a half later I am still getting bit by fleas. So now we have to bomb our house. We literally have never had a flea problem or seen a single flea in the 2 years we have lived in our house. Taking away a star because of the tremendous headache this place has become. The Good I cant remember the name of the lady who checked us in but she was very kind and after showing us to our room/house, gave us good recommendations in town for dinner. the kitchen was well stocked with pots, pans and dishes. we did not cook but it would be no problem for anyone who wished to. the hot tub was clean and functioning. the entire house was well decorated, and although the house was poorly insulated we were not cold at night. The house was very peaceful, as we were the only ones staying in the house. there are three rooms and a communal upstairs loft area that are rented out but were not rented out during our stay. The Bad: The main reason for 3 stars is this morning we were awoken at 930 by a knock on the door. walking down the hallway to the front door I saw a woman face to face at the door through the window. I unlocked the door and through a crack, trying to indicated privacy. She did not introduce herself at all or state that she was with the resort staff. She stated she needed to check something and before I could say anything she gently pushed me aside and came in the house. I asked if there was a problem, check out is not until noon. to which she did not reply or say anything. she ended up just needing to turn a light off in the basement but the encounter was strange and left me very annoyed and upset that it couldnt have been delt with after we checked out. what made it even stranger was as I was writitng a yelp review about this encounter, we recieved an air bnb email saying they apologize for us being needlessly intrrupted and offered us to stay another night if we wanted. I had not submitted my review so my only guess is someone in the basement heard me discuessing the situation with my boyfriend. We had suspected there was someone living in the basement, and at this point realized we had been listened in on the entire stay. Creepy, and not what I would expect for $200 a night. The rest of the stay: The office is hard to find unless you pull into the 2nd driveway. when we pulled into the first driveway and parked in front of a house, a lady aroached us and said it was a private residence and vageuly directed us across the courtyard. it took about 10 min of wandering to find the tiny check in office. no form of reservation, id, or anything else was checked which was a little odd. After getting settled in we explored the property. there were many run down looking structures, the few grassy areas were strewn with random stuff, old bird cages, etc. the courtyard has bird cages ok two sides, and the birds are very loud. They seemed to be cared for, but the number of birds was pretty alarming. I didnt count but there was easily 20-30 birds. there is a fenced area for llamas and another for goats both of which seemed adaqute space space. The cats however we were not able to see because they were in cage surrounded by cages of other animals. it was easy to see that the cats were not in appropriate sized cages for being wild animals. my only hope is that they are let out on a leash for exercise throughout the day, although I doubt they are. Apparently these animals were all brought here from a san francisco artist/animal breeder in the 70s. although i'm sure she loved these animals are meant well, it is clear they became too much to handle. there are not enough staff, and probably not a single staff member who has the actual knowledge of caring for this many animals, and these types of animals. My boyfriend booked us this hotel to get away for the night for our 10 year aniversary. From the Pictures and website it sounds like a unique place with a relaxed retrest vibe. I decided to look up reviews and doscovered the truth that is Isis. I kept an open mind though since we had alrwsdy booked. I was saddened to see the animals are in the enviornment that is discribed in past reviews. We however did enjoy our stay despite this, which is why I give them 2 stars. This place is not a retreat or a resort as it claims. I assume it is because of the recent fires and boost in homelessless, but this place is at current a landing ground for wanderers, homeless and free spirited 'hippies'. I respect that they were able to bring these people in and give them a place to live, but it should not be considered a resort, or a non profit implying they rescue their animals. read more

Would strongly discourage you to visit or stay at this lodge/animal sanctuary. First of all, I am deeply concerned about the welfare of the animals present at the sanctuary. The bird cages are in poor condition, and look like they will injure the animals. They are infested with rats. It makes me worried about the birds getting ill from the rats. The exotic cats are distressed, and pacing. Their housing is small, with little enrichment. Their raw food covered with flies. There was no staff available to address these situations, except for a single volunteer who didn't really know much about animal care or behavior. This is not a sanctuary by any means, and apparently have had their license revoked in the past with several complaints about animal welfare in the past few years by the USDA. It is nothing more than a roadside animal attraction. To draw in public who would likely not visit there in the first place. I think they may do all this to support their drug habit. Now, if this has not bothered you enough, more about the room ... We stayed in the Nuit Room, and it had a distinct odor. Both my friend and I were secretly concerned about getting bed bugs after stepping in there. The bedding was dirty, with several stains and spots on the linen. The bed was uncomfortable and rolled around whenever you moved. I got zero sleep, as there is a swimming pool that is clothing optional just outside of the room. People were chatting, and being loud, splashing water until 2:30 in the morning, despite numerous attempts by both myself and my friend asking them to please be quiet. My friend who after a nine hour drive to get there, wanted to silently sit in the pool and see the stars above her to relax, but was being bothered by the volunteer staff who kept talking to her about his personal life. She was also offered drugs, and they told her that they had a staff party earlier in the evening and were doing mushrooms. The bathrooms are shared. They are separated by sex. The cleanliness level of the women's room is worse than most rest stops at gas stations. And there is no privacy to change clothes or undress, unless you do it in the shower stall. There was no staff around the following morning, and we were told no one typically shows up until after noon. This place gives more of a hippy commune vibe, or a cult than anything else. If they are taking such poor care of the rooms and facilities, then it is no wonder that the animals there are kept in such awful conditions too. read more

Previously a Pomo Indian ceremonial ground then a Bahai' School, the spiritual grounds are stunning once you get past the purple and gold home-made elements all around. A business meeting brought me to the cheeky yet charming and restful retreat that houses the Temple of Isis "a non-profit spiritual organization whose purpose is to create harmony and balance on earth", in addition to the Isis Society for Inspirational Studies "a non-profit educational organization...which presents cultural events at the Oasis". The grounds are also home to the Isis Oasis Animal Sanctuary, which houses everything from unicorns and emus to exotic felines such as servals, bobcats, jungle cats and ocelots (they have a captive breeding program for the endangered species). There are three beautiful structures to spend the night in -- The Lodge, a twelve-room house with an Egyptian / Safari flavor; the Nesu House, a 3-Bedroom family-friendly house with its own hot tub perfect for families or groups of 10-15 people; the Tower, another small structure that accomodates up to 4 guests. The lush grounds also has a pavillion if you want to have special events or even a wedding here. The high priestess is a very knowledgeable and hospitable woman with an amazing, long and rich life history. Bring up the Davinci Code with this staunch supporter of the feminist movement and walk away with some fresh perspectives. By the end of the visit, the initial chuckles melted away into humility, peacefulness and great respect. read more
