My interaction with these folks started off pleasantly enough, as they showed up on time to winterize my system last Fall. By my own fault, it was late in the year (early November I think), and one very light freeze had managed to break my valves. Even so I was surprised and said so out loud. Well the guy misinterpreted this as me calling him a liar (I wasn't), and gave me his best tough guy face before holding the valve out to display its brokenness. I explained that I believed him but was just surprised, and we appeared to be copacetic after that. They did a fine job blowing out the lines and charged what I thought was a reasonable fee (although it was cash or check only), and they advised me to call them in the Spring to set up the repair and restart, making a note for (I guess) my customer file as to what would need fixing. So fast-forward to this Spring. I dutifully call them and ask to get on the schedule for said work. The lady admits that they have no such filing system to recall the part info they had written down. Ok whatevs, I still have my carbon copy and read the notes to her aloud. She gives me a long hmmmmm and says she'll need to find out if they even can get their hands on such an "old part", to which I instantly reply that the house and the entire system are less than a year old. She goes "oh really? Well text me a picture of it, and I'll show my technician when he gets back in this afternoon." I do so, and I follow up with a regular cadence of requests for a response over about a 3-week period, but they never respond. Best guess is they like to use that "old part" game to parlay into replacing the whole unit for a bigger markup, and they bail when it doesn't work. It would explain why they were on such a defensive edge about being distrusted back in November. read more

Company is full of it! They were called out to my home for sprinkler start-up which I was told it would be 65.00. I also had 2 heads changed which was an additional 60.00. I was then told if any work extended outside of 30 minutes the rate would be 106.00 an hour for labor after the fact. I immediately called the office to ask them why wasn't that communicated during the call for service. All I got was crickets(no explanation). I wI'll never use this company again. This company (Irrigation Doctor) used to be good. However this past year (2024) was the WORST!! The front office set up an appointment, THE CREW NEVER SHOWED, and no phone call to let us know they weren't coming. I called multiple times to reset appointment, ,"Again No Show" Then I call "Front office" they said they would call me back the next say. "THEY NEVER CALLED" "3 STRIKES AND YOU ARE OUT" There are numerous irrigation companies in the Canton,Plymouth and Belleville area stay away from this company. Also front office very "RUDE" to both myself and my wife. Used them 20 plus years NEVER AGAIN!!!!! read more

We have been using Irrigation Doctor for years, and this year they replaced our sprinkler system and did a terrible job. One zone was apparently not hooked up and there are multiple leaks. The valve box is full of water. The first people who came out said they would have to tell the owner because they didn't know how to fix it. After multiple phone calls, I have not heard from the owner. Now I have to find another sprinkler company and PAY to have this mess fixed. I'm afraid to even use the system. Dianne S. Do not use these guys! I had hired them to winterize my sprinkler system, however they did not explain to me that I had to shut my water off at the valve leading outside. They just told me to shut my water off. So I turned it off where it comes in from the city. After they finished, I turned my water back on and it started running through all the sprinkler lines they just cleared. You would think that if this was one of your main services to do during the fall time that they would explain to customers which exact valve to shut off. Or better yet, if they want to provide a quality service, they should shut it off in the correct location themselves. I called them to reschedule the service which I assumed would be free since they miscommunicated the instructions. However, when the 2nd guy showed up a few days later, he said they were going to charge me a 2nd time for the service. Not a good look for them. Ive been using irrigation docter for years now.. even after i moved to a new home. They have always been honest and if there is a issue in the system when starting up or closing it .. they always show us why and how there going to fix it! No complaints here! read more

They are unreliable and do not stand behind their work. We called them regarding prior work they did for us and they said they would get back to us. They never got back to us and despite calling on three consecutive days and leaving messages we got no response. We were forced to hire another company to correct their problem. We've been using Irrigation Doctor for years. We won't be using them any longer. My wife called to make an appt for us and our neighbors - which we do every year. She was told it would be $40 for us and it would take three weeks as they were very busy. Three weeks later, I got a knock on the door - they were here to start up the sprinkler system. I turned on the water, cleared a path to the keypad and asked how much. I was told $45. I thought that was a little rich as it had been $35 for years, but with inflation, maybe they had to bump it $10. Later that day after my wife got home, she saw the receipt on the table and asked if I had $40 cash to pay for it (usually she makes out the check & leaves in on the counter so I don't forget). When I told her that they had told me it was $45 and that I paid them with a check, she said that was different from what she had been told on the phone. I called Georgia (the lady who appears to run the place) to explain that not only was my wife told $40, but my invoice (which I didn't originally even look at) said $40 as well, and yet I was told $45. I told her that $5 isn't the end of the world, but it looks like a bait and switch if you're going to say one price on the phone AND have that same price on the invoice and then tell me a different price when I ask. She told me the price was $45. She told me that she wasn't going to change the price, or give me my $5 back. Next, I called my neighbor who also used Irrigation doctor. They told me they paid $40. So I called Georgia back. She had the nerve to tell me that it was my fault that I didn't tell her the whole story. She said that yes, there is a neighbor's discount of $5 and we should have been told $40, and not $45. After she looked up my address and information, she told me "You're winning, you're getting your $5 back". Seriously? I told her that I didn't know about the neighbor discount, and really it's not my job to know why her business has different discounts. That really is her area of expertise. I told her what I knew. My wife told me she had been told $40 and that $40 was on the invoice. She blamed me for not knowing about her business deals and told me that it's "never" $40 the first time I called. That's fine Georgia. You can keep the $5 you lied to get. You won't get any more of my money, my business or my neighbor's business. I shoulda swing by here to check reviews before I hired them. Their response time is decent and the people are somewhat nice, that's about all they have going for them. I asked for pricing on parts when I made the appointment and I was given a different price than what they told me in person once they were here and ready to work. Called the office to clarify the matter and got an "oh sorry, oh well." The part in question is $20 at Home Depot, but they won't use parts purchased by the homeowner. The quote for the part I was given over the phone was $30 and what they wanted to charge me in person was $65. When confronted about this their response was "all companies charge extra for parts..." They make up for the low labor cost (they're fast) by giving their parts price a HUGE padding. Look elsewhere. read more

My experience with this company was excellent. After 16 years, my irrigation system was a mess with heads leaking all over the place and a wooded area encroaching onto my lawn. Dan and his crew showed me where all of the water was pooling and advised me that many heads needed to be replaced. I knew going in that it was not going to be cheap. But even at the end, he asked if I found them through a Val-pak coupon. I started to say no, when he said that there is a 15% off coupon. He didn't have to do that. They were professional, and went far and above my expectations. I would not hesitate to recommend them to friends. I am not a family member and had never met them before they provided services to me but I was so very happy that I have found a provider that was honest, helpful and got the job done. I had a very very bad experience with this company. They came out to repair a sprinkler line issue two weeks ago and indicated that they could not repair the issue. They indicated they would get back to me with a proposed solution and costs. It has been two weeks and we have not received a proposal. Several unreturned phone calls and no action. Bad. Bad. Called them because I recd their postcard ad. Lady took down all my info and said they would be out between 12 and 6 the next day. I shut off my water main and waited..The next day I called again and was told they did not have me on the schedule? She said she would call me right back and would figure this out. She was going to call her guys and see where they were and possibly stop by my home last. She never called me back. They never showed up!! We have been using Irrigation Doctor for years and they have been reliable. This year we had them turn up our sprinklers. After a few days I noticed that there was a great deal of water by the valve box so I had them come out a second time. After the second time the leak stopped but my sprinklers would no longer come on. I had them come out again and all of my zones do come on, 1/2 of them are not the same zone number so all of my watering times needed to be redone and, finally, the next time I ran them after they left I had a zone that stayed on for 3 hours without us know and caused flooding in the yard. I have called and asked them to come fix it and they do not return the calls. I have given them $1100 and am basically left with sprinklers that I cannot use. DO NOT USE THEM. You will be treated rudely over the phone, struggle to get an appointment and the workers that show up have no pride in their work. read more

I have had nothing but problems with the irrigation doctor. Every single season something has broke multiple times. Their response time is somewhat adequate but the constant repairs that need to be done in my system is a little ridiculous. I m writing this review because the company sent kids to our house to restart our sprinkler system without a clues knowing what they were doing and Broke the timer latch door clear off the box in my garage. My husband called the company to complain and the the lady that answered the phone said that Jacob is an adult .Jacob is maybe 18 yrs of age he had another young guy with him that had to be 14years of age . The lady on the phone stated Jacob had no reason to lie about them breaking the latch off the box she insisted that Jacob stated he didn't break the box. Clearly if Jacob didn't break the box the little guy did .This is not good customer service we will never ever call this company out again so basically she called us liars. SMH read more

I have been a faithfull customer for 5 years and never had a problem until now. They came out to start up my sprinklers and broke the panel on my sprinkler box. Not only did they break it, they left it on the floor in my garage and didn't say anything. When i contacted the owner about the situation she stated that her employee said that it was like that when he started up the sprinklers. That was a straight up lie because i was just in the garage earlier that morning and the panel was on the box. She also said her employee wouldn't lie about breaking the panel. That panel just didn't magically appear on the floor. They'll NEVER have to worry about working on my sprinklers. They just lost a loyal customer. read more

I happened to be browsing Yelp! and came across a previous review I wrote for Irrigation Doctor. Yelp! stated my review was "Not Recommended". I don't know who or what determines if a review is "Recommended" or not, but after reviewing the reviews that followed mine, it certainly seems to be more than relevant, and should be considered "Recommended" in my opinion. To make sure others are aware, I am reposting my original review - and have no reason to make any changes to the original. Seems to me they have issues from top to bottom... ----- I called multiple times in August and September of 2016 after receiving a mailer at my home. I never received a return call. Subsequently, my neighbors chose to use them for some repairs I agreed to pay for after we tore things up installing our pool. I was not home when they began work, wish I was. I arrived about 30 minutes after they began work. I informed him I was paying for repairs only. In the end, my neighbor was told it was necessary to replace the entire zone (and add to it) that HAD 4 mist heads providing more than adequate coverage that happened to have 2 damaged heads and 20ft of damaged 1 inch poly pipe as feed. Even IF this was, for some reason a necessity, wouldn't it be best to turn the water on and check the current coverage?! Not according to these guys. This was replaced with 70ft (beginning to end of driveway) with 10 new mist heads. I used to install sprinkler systems, but even if you knew nothing about them, do the math. 70ft and 10 sprinklers along their driveway on the narrow side (they own 3 to 4 feet of grass on that end). I suggested SST nozzles (side strip nozzels) and he felt he could adequately do the job with 8 heads. Still WAY overkill, may even cause drainage problems. We were clearly sold a bill of goods that was not needed or necessary. Because of the neighbor situation, I negotiated the bill and reluctantly paid it for my neighbor, who knew nothing about sprinklers and was clearly over sold during a fairly simple repair job. I should have fixed it myself. I asked for an itemized invoice. Unreal. Didn't realize crimp clamps (which should not be used) cost $1 each. I can buy a box of 100 at home depot for $15. Heads were over $35ea and sell retail for about $5ea. I still can't believe the sticker shock I had. $575 and I had other estimates for $275. Had the neighbor been more flexible and willing to wait until Dec 2 when I had the other company scheduled, this would never have been an issue. I learned a lesson. I was told by the repair guy the reason they never returned my calls in August/September was because their phones were damaged in a storm and out of service for a couple weeks. When I began asking about cost consideration, I was told coupons expired three weeks earlier. Come to find out, he is part of the family that owns the company, I asked if there was someone at the office I could talk to and suddenly a discount of $50 was offered. Incidentally, the costs above did not include the winterization that was billed seperately. While they were still onsite, I mentioned I had not heard of the company other than the mailer I had received. I was told by the repair guy they rarely work in Plymouth or Canton. I called this company for having my sprinkler system repaired due to unavailability of other servicers in due time. The company dispatched a young technician who was not very slow in performing the services and charged $99/hr, which is more than any other contactor servicing sprinkler systems. I agreed to its preliminary estimate due to desperation of having the sprinkler system fixed. The company advised that all 10 valves needed to be replaced for having the system function again. I was charged $65 per valve plus hourly charges. It took the technician 5 hours to replace 10 valves. The technician installed a very low quality valve which broke when I turned on the sprinkler system the second time. When installing I was told that the valves were covered under warranty for 2 years. On the top of it, the technician left all discarded material buried underground, did not even bother to discard the items properly. When I called for warranty work, no one got back to me despite multiple messages. I had to call another person who installed Rainbird valve for $65 incl. parts and labor, and it took the person less than 25 min to replace the valve including all the digging he had to do. I approved the work and it's still leaking today. I brought to the owner's attention and she, Georgia LaDuke ignored my repeated phone calls and texts refusing to correct the problem. read more

The Irrigation Dr. should see a Doctor. This company claims its been in business for over 25 years. After 25 years they consistently fail to meet and keep appointments even with a 3 to 4 hour window. I wasted two days waiting on them. The lady in the Farmington office would say "I'll call the technician and call you back", she never did, not even once after she promised several times. They're obviously only after the quick buck and don't care about their customers. read more

Hired them to winterize our sprinklers. Not only did they fail to winterize the pipes correctly, they left with the water turned off to the main house and this (see picture). When we called to have them come back and fix the problem, we were told it was our fault (after them telling many lies to try to cover themselves), were hung up one by the lady in the office, then the technician called to berate my wife with profanities. They were adamant to come back to the house, I had to threaten calling the police if they set foot on my property. They eventually tore up our check and placed it in our mailbox, with the technician yelling "here's your check, F*** off" as she drove away (have this on video). Incompetent, ignorant and just all around horrible people. Don't give them your business. They have a "F" rating on BBB for a reason. read more

The technicians did a great job opening up our sprinklers and fixing the broken heads and other things that we didn't know needed repair. My one complaint was that they were incredibly late to my hoe and this caused some distress to my family. After speaking with them a few times. They did agree to refund a portion of the fees due to their tardiness. To me, when a business errs and they try to make it right, it's worth giving them another chance. read more

I have now learned that this company is rated F by the Better Business Bureau. Based on my experience, stay as far away as possible and find a reputable company. They charged me $818.00 for a start-up which they said required substantial plumbing work. The next day I checked with the Oakland County Water Commission, and they informed me that they had recently inspected my system, which they said was in perfect working order, that this work was totally unnecessary, and that the company was simply trying to drum up business. They winterized my sprinkler system last October. I opened it this year and after few weeks I noticed water in the basement. I hired a specialist to diagnose the issue. He confirmed that a busted pipe was the reason, he also confirmed that the pipe was busted due to a poor winterization. When I called them to tell them what happened and to ask for the warranty to fix the pipe only, they declined and acted foolishly. Don't trust them with your system, they're very bad, unprofessional, disrespectful, and dishonest. read more

If you are looking for quality service, dependability and a company that keeps their word, beware of this company. We have been loyal to this company for 4 years, despite all the problems we've had. Their crews are inconsistent; some are good and others are poor. We have had several service experiences where we had to have a second crew come out because of the poor job the first crew did. The follow-up crew even acknowledged that to us. They are not dependable in keeping appointments. We have had several times when they missed a 4 hour promised arrival window after we had planned our day around them. The result was to reschedule and plan another day around them. They didn't even call to warn us of their delay. But this summer was the final straw. We had them come out to start our irrigation system, and were delighted when they said everything was fine. But the very first time we used the system, it was clear that several heads were not working correctly and others were watering the street and patio more than the lawn. We scheduled another service date and the crew found 6 heads needing replacement and a major leak that the first crew did not even notice. Although this crew worked hard and appears to have corrected everything, they refused to honor their own discount coupon that we received in the mail from their company. I called the owner, who apologized and said she would compute the difference and send us a refund. After 3 phone calls and more than 4 weeks, we still have not received a refund. The last time I checked with the owner, she promised she would take care of it THAT day. The was 9 days ago and still no refund or explanation. Their best asset is their low cost compared to other companies. But, I guess you get what you pay for. I have given up on this company. I could not in good conscience recommend them to anyone. read more
