My sensible winter shoes from Irregular Choice
Josy A.

This is quite a dangerous shop when your bank balance is running low...but so many of the shoes/boots seem like they were made specifically for my slightly kooky side! I don't love all of them...but even the styles that would never go with anything manage to make me smile from the sheer beautiful madness! I only have only actually bought two pairs, but they are the most complimented shoes/boots in my wardrobe. If you want random strangers to compliment your feet, you should invest in some of their irregular choices. *Confession time* Once I sneaked in here on my boyfriend's birthday, and got so excited by a beautiful pair of shoes that he bought them for me! It may have been the ultimate birthday no-no...but I can't even feel too guilty as these pretty shoes seem to bring out my evil, selfish side!! (Eep!) KB mentioned that they stock them in 'Schuh' shops, but there is never the same amazing range as this shop on Carnaby street...If you want to browse/dream about shoes from outside London, head to their website: http://www.irregularchoice.com/

I stumbled upon this place whilst taking a little meander through Carnaby Street yesterday, being a huge, huge shoe fan, I couldn't resist the temptation to browse (dangerous as pay day isn't till the end of the month!). I had never heard of Irregular Choice before but I absolutely loved the outlandish designs of the shoes and the quirky edge they all seemed to have. Given, some of the shoes I found to be a little unwearable, still, if you are wanting a little bit of originality from your footwear, I'd really recommend this place. The prices seemed reasonable, around £50-80 for a standard pair of shoes, the same as any big store like Topshop etc. If you are around Carnaby Street, please visit this shop, it's such a great little shoe place, I can't wait to go back after pay day has arrived!

When trawling through central London in a daze, the only thing that will grasp my attention is the sight of a colourful shoe shop. Irregular choice was indeed one of these shops that successfully go my mind ticking. Calculating to be exact - as to whether I could indulge in some gorgeous new shoes. I have only seen this brand on-line so was thrilled to see that I could actually see the shoes 'in the flesh' so to speak. The shoes, as the name suggest are very irregular - lots of weird and wonderful shaped heels, designs, colours and embellishments. All utterly fabulous. I was also excited to see that the stock some clothing which comprises of some gorgeous frocks that are just beautiful. I haven't bought any shoes yet as I will need to work up the courage to wear them out and about as they are pretty 'out there'. Lovely though, and it is great fun just looking around. I'm sure I will have become a little braver by the New Year so will definitely be heading back.

YES YES YES

This one time I bought a pair of trainers covered in sequins. They didn't come from Irregular Choice but it's a story worth telling, I think,

Hmmm.... ok, the shop is funky cute and I know the point is to be weird and different and I appreciate the creativity (really I do), but come on - a lot of these shoes are just plain ugly. And while I have seen one or two styles that are acceptably fashion-forward, I cannot bring myself to give 3 stars to a place that still does the split-toe shoe (*shiver*).

In this photo of my brand new shoes - notice there is glue all over them, dirt, missing rhinestones and beads ( displayed on reciept )

BUYER BEWARE...Irregular Choice shoes are amazing but the staff at their Carnaby Steet location is not. Understand I live in the United States so this brand is not readily available to me. Under normal circumstances I would just place a order online; unfortunately the shoes I wanted were no longer available. So after contacting their corporate office - I was informed that the for mentioned store had a pair in my size but I would  have to call them to place the order. So armed with this information I got up the fallowing day ( Tuesday the 8th of August ) at 5am EST to do just that. This is where I started to have issues as I had to call 4 times befor anyone even awnsered the phone. Then after explaining the situation I was put on hold several times ( the staff being fully aware that this was an international call ) and passed off to 3 different associates. Next I was told they were very short handed and asked to call back in 10 minutes. So reluctantly I did as they asked and was able to finally place my order. The sales girl told me that they would email me my tracking information and a copy of my receipt/invoice with in 24hours. When I hadn't heard anything by Friday - I sent a very polite email requesting an update. In reply I got a very defensive message - telling me that they would never offer to forward information in that time frame. That my order had just been processed. While they did finally forward a royal mail travking number they still failed to supply me with a receipt/invoice. As a result I was forced to ask yet again for the pertinent information to this sale - they couldn't be bother to do so untill Sunday! At this point I am extremely annoyed with their less than adequate customer service. I do not feel I have asked for anything unreasonable considering I just called a foreign country and gave out credit card information for a $140 purchase. My patience with the incompetence of this store is worn out, thus I can not in good concise recommend anyone shop with them! I really hate dealing with lazy sales people with zero fallow threw! Perhaps they should seek alternative employment. The shoes finally arrived on August 17th and they were damaged ( the acrylic bunny heels are scrached up, there are a few loose rhinestones, and a large gold bead has been ripped off ) and dirty. Its difficult to say whether or not the shoes they sent were in this shape as they were boxed incorrectly. Which is surely what cause there mishapen state of the bows. If I had actually seen these shoes in this condition I would sure have passed on them.

Shoes galore! These shoes are dressed to kill. I agree with Josy A. ... the style is rather quirky. I'm always amazed with the designs and that they managed to put them through production. I haven't actually bought any shoes here yet, but I love to look at the girlie arrays of shelves with outrageous shoes on it. What fun! When they started they only had really high heel shoes, but they now also have a range of mid heel, kitten heels and flats. All of them colourful and fun. Sometime soon I will spend my hard earned money on one of theses beauties.

I was in London in December 2013. I visited a bunch of department stores. Part of me was curious about how they are set up versus how the flagship department stores in Canada were set up. I visited the flagship Selfridges store on Oxford Street. Rest in peace to the flagship Eaton's store in Winnipeg that I frequented often when I worked across from it. I also miss the flagship Hudson's Bay stores in Toronto and Winnipeg. I will toss in the flagship Simpsons store that preceded the Hudson's Bay. I stayed in South Kensington. There was a bus stop steps away from the hotel and around the corner from Gloucester Road station. I took the 74 Putney bus that got me to this store. I could have also taken the underground to Piccadilly Circus, but the walk would have been a bit longer. I wasn't sure how much damage I'd do here! I entered the store from Oxford Street, which gets you on the ground level. I remember seeing sushi on a convenor belt to my left. It was cool. It was Yo! I'm glad that this eatery is still around. You can dine here or do takeout. I entered the foodhall. I was so happy. I saw cupcakes, oysters, caviar, and more. Everything looked fancy and yummy. The ground floor had a beauty section and a pharmacy. This store is large. It's the second-largest department store in London, behind Harrods. I spent most of my time on the lower ground level. It's where the candy, wine, and cookshop sections are. I love candy and confections. I saw everything from macarons and chocolate malt balls, to fancy bourbon and wine. I bought some chocolate bars. They were perfect to hand out to colleagues. They were also Christmas-themed. I got milk and dark chocolate varieties. They were delicious. This floor also had a cinema. I didn't check it out. I was too busy visiting the technology and stationery sections. I was so happy on this floor. I spent the most time here. I did check out the women's clothing, which occupies levels 2 and 3. There was a lot of designer clothing. It didn't suit my casual, cheaper style. I loved coming here just before Christmas. It was festive and fun. The Christmas section was enjoyable to peruse. I have fond memories coming here. I hope to return someday. This store is over a century old and I'm pleased that it continues to endure. (49)

Plus, it is beautiful during the holidays. The store has a total of 4 floors with a huge Jellycat Fish and Chip pop-up on the top floor. If you are here for that, be prepared to wait since it is a 2 1/2 hour wait. There is also a walk-in line if you were unable to create a reservation. Merch here is on the pricier side but if you are looking for something trendy, you can definitely find it here. Plus, there are a few food and snack locations if you get hungry while shopping your hearts away.
