Everything you buy here is affordable and at a reasonable price for these brands. Definitely advise you coming here if you are looking for cheap and popular brand name shoes!

A bespoke pair of shoes takes over 100 hours of labour to make and will cost a commensurate amount. But, they also do an excellent bench made and ready to wear range. The store also has a fantastic selection of leather goods, including some exquisite backgammon boards. Whereas other shoe makers in town (Church, Lobb etc.) are good - they have all been taken over by fashion houses like Prada and Hermes, so they're effectively just branding. Foster's IMHO still maintains the traditional craft and workmanship that British shoes are famous for all over the world. If you ask you can still go upstairs and see their in-house staff working on shoes in the traditional way.

They were pretty well priced as well, only £60, and they also did a few scarves and belts.. that kind of shop. The staff were very friendly however and they offered alot of help if I wanted to try anything on or make any enquiries. But there is a winder variety available, I just didn't want to go through that struggle again... There are some not so nice shoes as well, and the stock changes pretty fast. On the whole, the quality is good but it would require some luck to find the perfect pair of shoes for any occasion. I would highly recommend a browse on any shopping trip to Covent Garden.

Luckily I got there before a huge line up of girls looking for pointe shoe fittings and adults looking for ballroom shoes free to out the door. I couldn't find my size, but they were extremely helpful and patient. Even with a crowd they give you full, professional and undivided attention. The staff in this shop are truly wonderful and the pointe shoe fittings were thorough and well informed. I ended up leaving with a glamorous pair or sparkly ballroom heels that I'll use for Concert performances. A must visit for any dancer.

We would order tights and shoes while on tour, in the Med and the Far East, from here and they would be swift to arrive. 'Frederick Freed Ballet' is still going strong - nearly 80 years after the ballet shop was opened by Frederick - it's still pirouetting on. As a pattern-cutter for ballet shoe designers, every week Fred's father would put aside half a sovereign for his son - allowing Fred by the 1930s, to open his own store. Freed's provided the first made-to-measure service and clients including Anna Pavlova and Margot Fonteyn who would wear out her shoes in just two performances.I have had the same pair of pointe shoes since I was 19! Every professional ballet dancer is fussy about their footwear. So much so that each shoe is hand-made to an exact specification. Good things should last the test of time - they should remain and remind us all of what once was and how life used to be - it's important in the ever changing London. 'Freed of London' make 40% of the world's ballet shoes - about 200,000 shoes a year.
