After booking online and calling to make sure they can accommodate our group, we arrive at our time and was greeted by the rudest women in the world. She belittled us, insulted us, and spoke in a demeaning tone. She was not understanding or friendly in any way. The environment was extremely hostile, so we ended up just asking for a refund. Let me preface this by saying I have never played a round of golf prior to this! I have played putt putt and been to the driving range but not actual golf. Our friends wanted me to try and I'll try almost anything once, so we went. The reasons we chose this course were that it was one of the closest to where we were staying on Topsail, they had the tee time we wanted, and tbh...it was the least expensive. We had a good time. we have moved to nc from ca, and I am taking up golf again (13 handicap) after almost 25 years. i was looking for a coach and outdoor practice facilities, and the options in the wilmington area are very limited. very happy to have found jon and the team at ironclad golf. where can you get five lessons with an experienced pga pro for $250 total, genuine support to ease you back into the game, and really stellar practice facilities - ironclad golf. this is clearly a long-term project, so ignore the negative comments about the course, they are investing heavily to rebuild this place. my love for the game is returning, thank you ironclad! read more

I'm embarrassed to say I'm from Hampstead and this is our home course. Absolute trash! Temporary greens everywhere. Don't waste your money. I think they're more concerned with making tacos.?. I can't figure out why this course is in such bad condition unless they just aren't putting money into it. read more

It's a work in progress and certainly not 100% done yet. The vision for this place seems incredible. A brewery vibe on a golf course! We played 9 on a weekday morning. It wasn't crowded at all. Fun course...it did steal a lot of my golf balls, though ‍. No dress code! The staff was super nice and accommodating. Iron clad craft beers on tap. I can't wait to see this place finished. The course and range are open now. It sounds like they do weekend food trucks a lot. I believe the pickle ball is up and going now too. They were working on the main club house (hopefully that's going to be a cool taproom type area). A taco restaurant was also in progress...tacos and golf! We should all support this place as it has potential to be an awesomely unique and fun craft beer, taco, and golf experience. We need those things together. read more

I played this course when it was Belvedere, and was hoping Iron Clad would restore it to its glory days. However, this is not the case. The course is in terrible condition. The Tee boxes are non-existent, the Greens are so bad with so many weeds it's in possible to hit a straight ball. The fairway haven't been watered in what looks like weeks, even though they have a new irrigation system. The cost to play this disaster is $40 way too much. read more

Typically enjoy this place and their atmosphere; I have always been in their corner for reviving this golf course. However, I tried to make a tee time today only to be told to try Olde point. Employee was rude. I'll be back, but not for a little while. In the meantime I'll be at Olde point, much better staff. Parking lot for reference when told to try Olde point instead. read more

Beautiful course for the price! Excellent greens and fairly decent fairways. Visiting from Florida and definitely worth the trip. I will check out the tacos next time. Fun, relaxing, laid back, and good drink selection. We frequent this quaint little driving range and beer garden and take our visiting family members here as well. They have a variety of alternating food trucks on the weekend and soon there'll be a taco place nearby. Looking forward to more neighborhood events and visiting again. read more

We went into playing golf at Ironclad, knowing that they are still working on various holes, and doing construction. With that being said, it was still a little disappointing how little was done to maintain the grounds. We ended up only doing 9 holes (the back 9), and the course is fairly easy which made it fun, but once again the grounds were not in great shape. They do have a little beer shed where you can get some cans, drafts, and non alcoholic drinks while you check in, and they do have an ample amount of golf carts that were in good condition. There was not much of a wait to play, being that it was during the week, however they do fill up pretty quickly on the weekends. Another cool thing that they do, is they have weekly food trucks that come out. So if you wanted to check out the driving range, or just sit at the picnic tables and enjoy some food and beverages, you could do that. I look forward to when they have Shaka Taco built on site and have done more to the grounds and the clubhouse. read more

The music is so loud, you cannot talk to one another. If the music was good it might be different, but the musicians make up for their lack of talent by blasting it very loud. I feel sorry for the people who live nearby. read more

Its a nice idea for a brewery owned golf course but this place is not ready to be open by far. First there were no canned drinks or coolers for the carts so if you got multiple drinks they would get warm by the time you were ready to drink them. The bathrooms are in the gutted club house it was strange. Then there were hardley any maps on the signs at the holes or golf cards. Finally the course itself needs some tlc. Its just a lot of small things they need to fix for the experience to get better. Id like to return in a few years and give it another chance when they have it fully operational. read more

Someone wrote, "they are not ready to be open" and I have to agree. They are enthusiastic about creating the space but are not focused on the importance of restrooms (currently you walk through the old abandoned clubhouse which resembles a grandma-Horder's residence. They need to establish a true experience here to grow roots. Start with an XXL Firepit, decent bathrooms and colder beer!. The food trucks are a good idea, maybe create a couple of sand horseshoe pits in the space to the front left of parking lot. Good Luck!!!! read more
