There was a threesome at the tee. I introduced myself to the threesome and asked their tee time. They responded 9:15 am. They the asked if it would like to join them. I agreed. Golf is fun when playing alone but always better with a group. The starter came up and immediately demanded I get on another cart with the threesome. I told him I was recovering from Covid and would prefer to ride alone so as to not possibly spread the virus. He asked if I was over the virus to which I replied I was not sure. He stated, get in the other cart, I replied "No". The situation got very tense with him using obscenities and threatening to call the police if I did not get in the other cart. I teed off, got in my cart and told him I had the 9:08am tee time and would proceed ahead of the other group. He chased me down the fairway screaming obscenities and threatening to call the police. He told me I was banned and needed to get off the course. Of course, I encouraged him to call the police and explain to them why he was acting threatening to a paying customer with a legitimate tee time. He turned around and yelled back at the threesome, "let this asshole go ahead, fuck him". I bogied the hole. When the adrenaline rush subsided I played much better. The threesome joined me shortly after and we played within the suggested course timeframe. All the players in the threesome remarked the starter was out of line and on a power trip. Sad. The cart guy was great. The pro shop attendant was polite and helpful. The course was waking up from winter and quite playable. Greens are in the sixth year post renovation to Bermuda turf. The greens make the course challenging. I'm going to rate the entire experience positive but the starter on that day should be fired. How hard is it to be nice to people who come to "play"?
