Folks are friendly and the neighborhood is great. (Full disclosure: my parents live in the Lakes and my dad golfs regularly.) Blossoms is the latest incarnation of the Magnolia Greens golf course clubhouse restaurant. I first reviewed it back in 2011, when it was called Magnolia Grill. While the interior may have been updated in the intervening years, the boxy space is the same. You definitely get a "golf course clubhouse restaurant" vibe here, and I assume patrons are primarily from the neighborhood, or golfers. It's a friendly place to gather and eat before or after a round of golf. Destination dining, it is not. Breakfast and lunch menus are available, and it's your basic golf course clubhouse food. A selection of salads and sandwiches at lunch, and all the breakfast basics earlier in the day. There are few gluten free options, but I was able to enjoy the Blossoms salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. (I heard on good authority this salad is a favorite of the ladies' golf group.) It's a large portion, and leftovers kept well for another meal the following day. My husband opted for the cheeseburger and fries, which he deemed below average. "Two star, tasted like meatloaf." The all-beef hot dog plate that wandered by our table looked good, and may be an option for me on a return visit, sans bun. Informal surveys of the regulars seem to indicate that breakfast is the best meal served at Blossoms. So get there early and fill up before hitting the links.

On most Friday nights, starting at 7:00 PM, there's karaoke with host and emcee Jerry Surprise. This place can get packed quickly, so it's wise to make a reservation if you want to guarantee a table. (See my earlier review for more information on the karaoke crowd. There are some superb singers each week warbling a wide variety of country, pop, and rock songs.) One of the favorites on the menu is the seared ahi tuna appetizer, which comes with soy sauce, wasabi and pickled ginger. Have it seared rare, and it is quite delicious. It's also available as an entree with a side of grilled vegetables. On the gluten free side, most of their salads can be made GF, and a recent find was the Antipasti salad. It is huge! Leftovers kept well and made a nice side salad for four the next day. (We added in more fresh lettuce and a homemade dressing.) They also were able to cut up some fresh veggies for me so I could enjoy the hummus appetizer, and they even put the pita bread on a separate plate to ensure no cross-contamination. Thoughtful touch!

I had a Greek turkey sandwich on naan with sweet potato fries, and my husband had a chicken pita wrap with sweet potato fries. I really enjoyed my sandwich. It had thin slices of turkey, little bits of cucumber and whatever spices, on naan bread. I thought it was quite tasty. The sweet potato fries, not so much. They didn't taste freshly made to me. The night before we'd eaten at The Copper Penny downtown and their sweet potato fries were perfection, so these were substandard. My husband said his pita was good. His fries were the same as mine. All in all, we enjoyed most of our food. The young woman who served us was attentive and polite, our surroundings were comfortable and calm, and we'd return during the same time of day for a meal if we had the opportunity.

Something about this place, just seems so outdated enough. It is definitely the least expensive country club in the area and a nice spot for families on a "country club budget". The dining room and bars are average and so is the food. It really needs a general overhaul to the whole site to make it feel more up to speed. The pool is very average looking and it needs more charm in general. Staff were very kind, and the space is nice for a small gathering,

Over the years we've experienced terrible food on many occasions, so much so that we've stopped attending events and eating in the restaurant almost entirely. For Easter one year the food was inedible and we were reimbursed for our meal for our family of 7. Another time my husband took our children to the pool and was declined food due to a brunch service happening which is not the end of the world. He was then directed to the snack bar to get a hot dog, but they had no buns. It's silly and simple but it all adds up quickly when you're paying thousands of dollars each year and you come to enjoy your amenities and are unable to feed your hungry children. This has happened multiple times, whether the pool is closed, and not one communication has been sent out so families pile in their cars, get their kids ready and sunscreen on, only to drive up and be turned away. When we joined they had family friendly events like hayrides and now they look to charge $25 per child for their events. It's absurd to think that a family with two children would pay $50 for dollar store crafts on top of food and beverages while on-site. Keep in mind nothing is included in the charge of $25 per child so if you're hungry or thirsty, better pay up. There are members of the staff that are very sweet and long time employees and I do appreciate their work but the management of this club has continued to decline year over year. They will communicate 757867863 times regarding anything to do with the golf course but ZERO regarding the pool. There is an entire demographic of social members that use the pool each year. This year, it's not even open yet because the management has taken such poor care of the facilities. The pump was broken, they have cut ties with the pool maintenance company and brought in a another but the algae bloomed so bad they cannot get it open. The pool typically opens each April and it's almost memorial day with no opening day in sight. The icing on the cake is that they've only communicated this onceto the members. Remember when I said they email 24/7 for golf. Once, one email that's it. Most people are getting updates from the swim team. Meanwhile, they are expecting us to cough up hundreds of more dollars for renovation projects as social members. If I can warn one family, I'll warn them all- save your money, go to a functioning club with a better experience. I would never advise anyone to join PVCC. Just when we think our expectations can't get lower, they fall to below sea level.
