I started off as a big fan of this place, but each time I give them my business I lose a little more interest. First, lets start with the food. As their name would suggest, this restaurant serves sushi. The sushi is certainly not bad, but at the same time it would never make anyone's top ten (or twenty) place for quality sushi. It is basically a step above sushi you would find at a supermarket. However, I do not really knock it for this because as I said, the sushi still is pretty good, but it is more like the "poor man's" sushi restaurant. It is the McDonald's equivalent of sushi as you will find this place as the most reasonably priced sushi. But you must take that in stride with it not being the greatest, but at the same time it is very economical. In order to take advantage of such inexpensive prices for their sushi, the rolls are substantially skinnier than rolls you would find at most other sushi establishments. Two of my most recent take out visits disappointed me in the wait time. Each time they told me that my order would be ready in 15-20 minutes. So I arrived after 25 minutes, but both times it took over 40 total minutes for them to fill the order. This is really a huge negative mark in my mind as I am picking it up and I could leave my home to get it at any time. So if you tell me 20 minutes then you should not make me wait and waste an additional 20 minutes or more of my time. Another visit that was a disappointment was when I called and ordered a take out of their ramen soup for my sick throat. The girl on the phone told me that they did not have ramen; only miso. I told her I was surprised as I have purchased that many times before and even described it. Then suddenly she said that they did have it. Wtf? So then I ordered the pork ramen, but she told me that they did not have the key ingredient...pork. Ok, I still wanted the soup because I needed a warm meal for my throat, but when I asked about adjusting the price she told me that they would not. Now why would you change the same price when the main (and most expensive) ingredient is missing? When I arrived to pick up my meal I found her to lack a personality or any customer service of any kind whatsoever. read more

Not a place you go for the vibes, but the food is good. You can't go wrong with a $13 poke bowl, especially when the food hall down the street is selling them for $22. Soft drinks were $3. Terrible. This restaurant seems to be running a scam where if you order delivery, you pay through grub hub, the restaurant gets paid but they never deliver your food. Then you call the restaurant to ask about your order and they appear helpful, but the second they realize that you are on to their scam, they say, "no ingles" when you just had a full conversation with them. I went through this ordeal and ended up waiting 2 hours before i finally got GrubHub to cancel the order and refund me. Their Sushi is fine, but after the b$ll sh*t I went through and their obvious dishonesty, I will NEVER order from them again, even though they are so close to where I live. So Shameful read more

Stopped in here since it was a familiar place and since I was hungry, but this time I wanted to give their bowls a try. The Miami Shores location is much closer to me, but since 1 of us works in this area, I thought, maybe they do their bowls differently here than their other places... 1/5 Chicken Curry Bowl with drink $8.50 I had here was just horrid, as bad as I had at "Go! Bento" in Hollywood and that's on the bottom of the totem pole. I mean, why do these places friggin kill the chicken by over cooking, over microwaving their food? Damn, do they NOT KNOW the chicken came in dead already. If you look at my photo, the chicken is so dry and hard along the edges, you wouldn't even serve it to your friends who come over to visit you in your house, let alone charge a customer and PROFIT for this food. The portion here was also 50% less compared to their Miami Shores place...at least there you get more tasteless chicken. All they do is nuke overdone chicken, sauce it and call it day...it's like chicken jerky with curry sauce on top. The curry and potatoes is from an instant pack and can be heated in boiling water; in this case, it looks like they placed the chicken over the rice, dumped the instant sauce and potatoes on top, and then microwaved it. The hard edges of the chicken being so dried out explains it. 3/5 Beef Teriyaki Bowl with drink $8.95 was better than the chicken; the beef wasn't as over cooked, and somewhat still moist and not dried out. I just wished these places cooked their food the proper way and charge accordingly instead of taking short cuts and hiring simple labor to do a task they aren't trained properly to do. 3/5 Salmon Sushi $8.75 comes with a drink or soup and better than their cooked bowls. The salmon is quite thin and the rice amount is quite hefty but I guess that's to be expected for these prices. It's a cheap eat if you must sushi, and a better deal than at Publix where the rice is cold and hard. Their sushi deals are overall still much better with so much they offer, so if you're looking for that then this is your place, but stay clear away from their bowls or you'll leave completely disappointed. read more

Second time trying Iron Sushi, first time in this location. The location is in the new plaza nestled in between Starbucks and Wells Fargo. The downside is the lack of parking spaces out front since there are several retailers in that strip. I ordered the Latin Roll which consists of white fish, cream cheese and plantain on top of the rice. I know this combination steers away from traditional sushi but it was delicious!! At 6.95 it was decently price. At first I only ordered 1 and tried to pay with card but I was told their is a $10 spending minimum for card so I ordered another roll. I rarely carry cash so just a heads up! Overall, I love their wide selection of unique rolls. Service was quick and friendly. If I could give this iron sushi a negative five I would. They don't pick up the phone ever. So we drove there to order and my husband saw the were just standing inside doing nothing so he called while staring at them and you can hear the phone ringing and they ignored it. Then the guy with glasses did not take the order right and charged the card, once we asked him to add stuff to the order he refused so by claiming the kitchen just closed in that split second after the charge. So then when we asked to just void the transaction and cancel the order he said he couldn't. Honestly having worked at many restaurants myself I have never even heard of someone doing that. I assume the owner is not well aware of what is going on so I hope this review gets to him and have something done about because I'm sure we weren't the only ones treated like this. Also I can recommend employees with real skills to come replace this you man that seems troubled to process common sense and do his job. I finally got a chance to stop in to Iron Sushi and I will say I was a little impressed. I have been blessed to have been to many many of the sushi spots in town. I hadn't been to Iron Sushi as it seems more like a lunch quick bite spot. The menu seems less pricey than your average sushi place, but that makes me think it won't be as good. But tonight i ordered a few things for delivery. The gal on the phone took my order in no time but warned it could be an hour. 30 minutes later there was a delivery guy knocking at my door. I took apart the order on the table and I was pleased with everything. Even better there was enough prepped soy sauce and wasabi. Kinda rare in a to-go order these days. Everything was pretty solid. The gyoza was good size and tasty. The salmon and tuna #2 combo was excellent and couldn't have been better, especially for the great price. The "Crazy" roll was average, but again, pretty dang good for the price. The topper was the fun rolled up cheese cake. I have now ordered twice from this place. It is very good, friendly, and quick service. Especially now given the restrictions. Both orders were from Grubhub. Both orders were correct. No mistakes. The sushi was good in quality except the raw tuna. I have eaten a lot of sushi and this tuna was not very fresh. I wouldn't say it was spoiled but it certainly did not taste fresh. Parking on Young Circle can be tough so I love that I can place an online order via Yelp! They have some pretty good lunch specials and combo items. I usually go for the lunch box specials, you can do 1/2 california roll, 1/2 tuna roll, spring roll and the daily special (sometimes that is fried tofu). They also have options with chicken teriyaki or beef teriyaki. Lots of sushi to choose from too! The dragon roll with fried shrimp is spicy & sweet but my favorite is the volcano roll! You can do full or junior rolls depending on what else you get to eat it makes sense to go junior. I enjoy the food but the only reason I gave 4 not 5 stars is because there does tend to be a wait even when you place an order in advance online. So give yourself some extra time but the food is really good! if anything they deliver for $3 charge. read more
