For sushi, it's pretty basic American options, but ... it's also in Marion, so ... not sure how adventurous northern Columbus folk are. I'm used to all sorts of different sushi options and varieties, so it wouldn't hurt to have a few more varieties other than dragon, California, dynamite, ect. Friendly and prompt service at the bar! Three of us ordered hibachi, one ordered sushi. I believe the sushi roll only had 4-5 pieces and was too spicy for me to eat (although my tolerance for spicy is low). As for the hibachi, the steak, chicken and shrimp were all overcooked. The scallops were perfectly cooked. We got very little rice and vegetables compared to the others at our table. The soup was very good, The salad a bit disappointing because we were expecting a ginger dressing but instead it tasted like it was just tossed in yum yum sauce. Bottled water from Meijer. Our chef is an accomplished artist who drew the picture that was hanging to greet everyone for Father's Day. This honestly was the best filet mignon I've had at a Japanese steakhouse, hands-down. The food is good, but the service was not. I'm allergic to shellfish, so I cannot eat the shrimp that comes with the meals. I told one of the workers that a restaurant I would go to would let me substitute the shrimp for an extra salad or soup. The woman told me, "Then you need to go back there." That heffa was rude asf. Given how busy the restaurant can be on weekends, I also think the service is great, efficient and friendly despite the large volume of customers. This is a fairly good Japanese style restaurant. The chef was friendly; however, did not do a great job correctly preparing the steak or seasoning the rice. The vegetables were well cooked and seasoned. Even though the strak was over cooked it was still tender. The service was very good. read more

Visited the Iron Chef while I was back home over Thanksgiving break. I am happy to see Marion getting a couple places with sushi! And it was quite a selection. I'd like to go back just for sushi. Wasn't impressed with the drink they brought my mom. She ordered a Bellini and got some sort of cheap vodka with a splash of peach flavored martini. Gross. I ordered the scallops and was very impressed with them. The chef was a typical chef of his kind, but had a great sense of humor if you paid attention to him. He was a bit soft spoken. Over all the food was great. I did find the prices to be a bit high for Marion, OH. I am not sure how long this place will be around Marion at that price. Also, it seems it was a family owned business or perhaps "bring your child to work night." A star off for this this. I really don't like when children are running around the restaurant "helping". Since I work in Marion and get take out often this one of our go to places. At lunch the prices are much more reasonable than dinner. I would not go for dinner because I think it is too expensive. I have not ate inside so I can not comment on that service. When we order to go though the service is always fast and friendly. I love getting the shrimp and scallops. Make sure you get the egg sauce that goes on top. It is so rich but makes the dish. I always get fried rice and ask for extra vegetables and of course extra yum yum sauce. Their crab rangoons are some of my favorite. The sauce that goes with them is sweet and tasty. If I am craving hibachi and in Marion I will definitely go back. read more

My first impression was not good. I arrived after the dinner rush...745pm. The hostess and another gentleman were sitting at the bar and barely turned to greet me. Overall, it was a good time. I had steak and shrimp and some of what they call "egg yoke" on the side. Oh my GOODNESS! The egg yoke was amazing. It's a heart attack on a plate, naturally, but it was AWESOME yumminess. The chef cooked my beef correctly (I requested medium rare) and the shrimp was not overcooked at all. I was not impressed by the soup (beef broth with a few slices of raw mushroom floated on top), the salad (traditional American-Japanese restaurant style iceberg with some sort of sweet, pink sauce they call "yum yum" sauce--the lettuce was too wet), or the calamari (like huge onion rings and mostly on the chewy side and no little pieces). I haven't been to a Japanese Steakhouse for many MANY years. I didn't realize that a little comedy act of sorts is included in the food flipping and throwing. It was kind of cute. It would be very entertaining for a kid and great place to take a kid for a birthday or for teenagers on a date or something. read more

Came to Marion with my husband for a quick business trip. I did some Yelp Searchin' and found Iron Chef. Great choice! The chef was fun and the waitress was attentive. And the food was just plain yummy! I got the filet and shrimp and G got Land & Sea with extra fried rice and extra vegetables. All of it was great but we are not a fan of the bean sprouts. We had plum wine, which smells wonderful and tastes sweet. And we split a small hot sake. The two local couples sitting with us were very nice.
