We recently moved from the area to Columbus and we've found ourselves making the trip back for Ichiban. The manager is a sweetheart! If something makes you unhappy, you tell him, he'll make it better. He's friendly and attentive and we've talked several times about markets in Columbus and authentic places to eat in MY area so I don't have to drive to see him. How sweet is that? He's even treated us to an appetizer or desert now and then and mine always comes with an orchid. LOVE that! The staff are very friendly, attentive and helpful with questions and assistance with food allergies or even their preference. I've heard the manager discretely say something to staff and they are right on it, making sure every customer's needs are met. The sushi is very, very good and we love to sit at the bar, nibble on salad or miso soup and watch Chef practice his art. Meats are held at the perfect temp, each piece is made with love and the plate is beautifully decorated with flowers or painted with a sauce to look like a dragon or heart. Don't miss the Ikura (salmon roe sushi.) Little bursts of salt water with each bite! We have gone with friends who are not sushi eaters and their food was very good. The noodles are great, the chicken and shrimp are always just right. We have never been seated at the hibachi because our tables always want something different. We'll be back many times over.

Shrimp cooked with water is just steamed shrimp that is rubbery. NO FLAVOR and should have saute/soy color on it...no color at all (see pic) - no lemon even on his cart. The fried rice was a joke...white rice (with more water added on the grill) had tiny bit of soy sauce and 2 eggs for 5 orders of fried rice - no lemon...THAT'S IT...NO GREEN ONION, NO MUSHROOM, NO SESAME SEEDS and again no hibachi grill color to it. We could have gotten a better Japanese meal at Wendy's (and should have). We had no soy sauce on the table - had to go and ask at the bar for some. When they cleared our plates (with 1/2 the food on them), I told them that dinner was not good, but even that didn't get any attention...everyone suddenly couldn't communicate.
