I love Iris Dental!!! It's like going to a family member dental office. You are treated with the utmost respect and as a friend. Van, Dr. Van is very through and knowledgeable and his wife Tiffany is a dear as well. All of the dental assistants and front office staff are very helpful, and knowledgeable. I look forward to and enjoy my visits. When I'm nervous in the chair which come with the territory right and we all are because it's the dentist chair. Dr. Van reminds me to breath which relaxes me and let's me know that he is aware of my anxiety at that moment. I'm over 40 and no dentist has ever noticed or shown concern about my anxiety while in the chair. I refer friends and family members to the office, because I know they will receive the same care and be happy. Last, I'm always smiling so I have to keep my teeth and gums healthy. I called in to get a check up for my roommate because she was in pain for 2 weeks. The front desk receptionist was able to squeeze her in right away. She was very knowledgeable about the schedule. We waited in the waiting room, which was clean, for 30 mins. She got in and got an x ray and an assessment. They did not suggest additional services like the other reviews stated. They then gave her a referral to see an orthodontist for a root canal. The dentist was very nice and empathetic. I would recommend this dentist. read more

Absolutely 10/10! I have nothing negative to say about this office and that is so hard to come by. They always have appointments available (especially for us that work traditional business hours). Short wait times, friendly staff, and amazing doctors. Not only did they educate me but they walk me through the entire process. The cherry on top is I never feel pain! I've been going here for a few years and Dr. Tran has been amazing. He is gentle, kind and knowledgeable. Before any work is done, he will explain and answer any questions I might have. As someone who hated going to the dentist when I was younger, going to Iris Dental has made everything a breeze. Iris Dental is on a money GRAB, they are dishonest and unethical. I sent my husband there for a simple teeth cleaning prior to getting braces put on. They told me he needed an extensive deep cleaning that was going to need to be done over two visits. I contacted my insurance to see if we can rush along the process, they advised no pre-authorization was needed. We called back to Iris dental to get the work done, they still wouldn't complete the work. I sent my husband to a new dental office with his x-rays and they advised he didn't need a deep cleaning. Clearly they just wanted to bill insurance, and put my husband through an extensive procedure for no reason. I will never use them again. read more

The receptionist was very sweet and helpful. As someone who has a lot of anxiety regarding getting dental work done, the receptionist's personality and kindness made me feel more relaxed and less stressed about my appointment with Dr. Tran. However, after I got in that chair and met Dr. Tran, all the stress and anxiety came back. Dr. Tran didn't really tell me what he was exactly doing with my teeth. He gave vague notices, like "We are going to remove your cavity" but does not state which tooth he will be working on and where he is going to numb me. Only half my mouth was numb, which caused me to panic because no one told me only half my mouth would be numb and I thought it would be the full mouth. When addressing some concerns I had with Dr. Tran, he was not respectful or understanding with my concerns. He literally laughed because he thought my concern was foolish/irrelevant. I understand that Dr. Tran has done dental work, school, and training for many years and therefore has more knowledge than I do regarding dental health and concerns. However, it does not give him the right to laugh and be disrespectful with people's concern of their own body. If he would have taken it from a patient's perspective, he might have considered that patients do not have as much knowledge and training as he does with dental care, and rather than laughing at them and disregarding their concerns, he should validate their feelings, reassure them and explain why he thinks there should be nothing to worry about. When you treat your patient's concerns the way he did with mine, it makes it really hard for the patient to want to share information or concerns that may be relevant to the upcoming procedures. In my opinion, I would rather have a patient disclose their concerns to me, even if it is irrelevant, rather than not share with me at all, and I find out the hard way when there are complications during the procedure. The way he treated me added to my stress and anxiety. Other than the lack of communication and disrespecting my concern, it was not like he was completely rude during the entire appointment. It was just those specific cases. However, due to my high anxiety with dental work, I will not be coming back to get dental services from his office. I strongly believe Dr. Tran shouldn't disregard patient's concerns, even if it's irrelevant, as communication is key with any relationship, including doctor and patient relationships, and could be helpful information for their procedures. read more

Last Thursday morning I post a review about Iris Dental, that same day office manager called regarding post saying doctor had seen it. Office manager was very apologetic, I felt it was sincere and we're moving forward. Today I had my first appointment for work to be done was greeted by office manager, she was working front desk with another patient when I got there . She went over everything we discussed on phone again. Notes in folder, any issues are concerns I'll take up with her. Work started, I left happy with what was done today going back next week. I Haven't even had the chance to see the dentist yet but his front staff/call center already screwed up. They confirmed my appointment in the morning for the same day and when I get there,nobody is in front, and finally I see two staff members LEAVING!!!!! turning off lights...that's right people, they are closing. The Dr had left and nobody thought to tell me as a heads up. I was literally told to come in early and I did by 30 min and it was only to see that they were closing early?????!!!!!! Exposed to patient names and phone numbers while alone in dental chair. After waiting 25 min, I was instructed to go to chair 2. This was a little odd. Typically they escort you to your chair. When I arrived at chair 2 there was a computer screen directly in my face that displayed the patient schedule information, complete with patient first name, last name and phone numbers for the entire week. When I mentioned the information breach, Tiffany (front desk/ office manager) and the dental assistant seemed indifferent and did not make any attempts to hide the confidential information until I continued to complain. I had to tell the dental assistant that it is her job to keep all of my information including my phone number confidential. I stayed for my X-ray's and exam,deciding to just mention it to the doctor. Doctor Andy Tran was very pleasant and listened to my concerns. He immediately mentioned it to Tiffany. The doctor's diagnosis was accurate and fair. He didn't try to over charge for unnecessary work. However, I won't return because per Tiffany, the doctor ONLY uses amalgam (silver that I believe have dangerous levels of mercury) filings and not composite resin (the natural color and safer) filling. Took my toddler there. 0 cavities the past 2 years, now suddenly she has FIVE? Found that *very* hard to believe so we got a 2nd opinion. Sure enough, 2 other dentists both found only 4. However, only one of which was big enough to do a filling on. The other 3 are small enough that they suggested trying to re-mineralize them instead. Googled it, it's legit. So... SHAME on Iris for wanting to drill holes in my childs mouth that were not necessary!!! You have been warned. read more

This dental office just opened. Went here for the $29 new patient cleaning special. Although he mumbles a little Dr. Tran was very friendly and explained everything to me and took great care of my teeth. The dental assistant was new and was a little clumsy with the tools. She could not get some of them to work until the other dentist stepped in. She also had to re-take several x-rays (I don't like unnecessary exposure) An overall good experience. My teeth are now clean and good for another 6 months. I'll be back. read more

I took my 13 yr old son here for an emergency visit because it was the closest dental office to where I was staying. One of my son's tooth had chipped while he was playing football that day. When I arrived, the office was preparing to close but the receptionist was kind enough to take us in as she saw how concerned I was. Dr. Tran not only fixed my son's chipped tooth, but he also took X-rays and cleaned his teeth making sure there were no other injuries. He took his time and ended up staying opened an hour after closing. I really appreciate the service. Although I don't live in SD, I would come back the next time I'm in town. read more

Dr. Tran and his staff are the best. Ive been going to see Dr. Tran since i was 12 years old or younger. Yes he sees kids too. He is very good keeping me calm as well as his assistants. They make us feel very welcome. The tines i had to get fillings his assistants try to distract me from the pain of the needle. There are times when my appointment was canceled due to Dr. Tran having an emergency which is understandable. I don't really mind, things happen and again its understandable and of course they let their patients know as soon as they can. Overall, my experience with Dr. Tran has been great. From great service to being able to give my family a discount when really needed. The staff is great! Id recommend Iris Dental. read more

First time there and didn't like it, I need my wisdom tooth removed and all they did was hurt me with the x-ray machine and ended up recommending another place. I've been to four other dentists in San Diego before I finally found Iris Dental. I went in after I fell and chipped my front tooth. I was in major pain and it was an emergency. Dr. Tran immediately took me in and treated it even though I didn't have an appointment. I've been a loyal customer since. They also never make you pay for more than what is quoted. I've been to so many places that have a good reputation, but then I get a bait-and-switch where I end up paying more than what was quoted when I first arrived.
