I stopped by this tire shop hoping to start a positive relationship for future auto needs, and simply asked--politely--if I could get some air in my tires. Instead of a welcoming response, I was told air wasn't free because it uses electricity, and I'd have to pay $5. This caught me off guard, especially since there's a gas station right across the street offering air for $1. The situation escalated quickly and unnecessarily. I was insulted and cursed at, and when I hesitated at the price, the owner shut the garage door on my shoulder. It became even more uncomfortable when he raised his hands as if to fight and threatened to call his son to harm me. At that point, and as a military veteran and current paid firefighter, I chose to walk away rather than escalate things further. I understand businesses need to make money, but there's a way to treat people--especially potential long-term customers. Unfortunately, this experience was hostile, unprofessional, and disappointing. recently visited my sister and when returning home to Troy NY my car broke down. 150 miles from home late at night. stress!. Took car into IRAUTO. Explained to Jose what happened and he agreed to check thins out. He did an engine diagnostic check. Found the problem, got the parts, fixed the car. Very honest and reliable - Highly recommened A few weeks ago I did a thorough investigation on the web and scanning for a reliable auto mechanic shop in my area. So I carefully read customers reviews which I rely on of other mechanics in the area. I even did a few calls to get quotes and to see if I would be charged for them to do a quick vehicle assessment. However after speaking to less than a dozen I had a good feeling about IR Auto so I went with my gut instincts. Not that I am saying anything bad about anyone else. Jose is the owner and person I spoke to by from IR Auto. With no hesitation he said it would be free of charge without any obligation. So I said to myself I have nothing to lose. He had alot of positive reviews so I gave him a chance. The first quote he gave me was for an Oxygen sensor replacement which was fair; so I inquired about the Flex pipe as well. He gave me a break if I were to do two of them so then I asked about fixing the car door handle. We negotiated a price for all three which was very fair in comparison to the other places I had reached out to. Jose was even nice enough to give me a drop home which was five minutes away which I greatly appreciated. I was in no rush to get my car back but it was finished the next day. He even told me that he would take my car to the DMV to get it inspected because it orginally failed due to the sensor not functioning properly. I told him not to worry and he said it wasn't a big deal. He said he wanted to surprise me and that he did. I spoke to his son Jose as well and the mechanic which was an overall positive experience for me. I highly recommend the services that they provide and will continue using them in the future. I have also spread the word about the experience that I had. It's definitely worth it. Jose was very thorough in his explanation of procedures and never tried to upsell me. I've been to sooo many different mechanic's and they all say the same thing, "I can't help you." Well...not Jose! Irina professionally handles inquiries at the front desk and Juan is the owner/foreman.
