This is the worst apartment experience I have ever had anywhere! Office is not open stated hours - says opened at 10 am (no one around) . Called to see if they were running late no answer so called a sister community who was able to reach someone who called me back to tell me they would check and call me back ( still no call). They finally opened at 2 pm that day. Next, to my surprise, prior to my move in the complex did something in the unit that caused a very strong toxic smell -,cleaning products, insecticide, bathtub reglaze? This caused a severe asthmatic reaction! Allergist advised to get out of the apartment due to environmental concerns. I notified management that I needed to break the lease due to the toxic chemicals. Apartment management did not care and sent an email stating a 2 month penalty to break the lease was required. Never moved in based on the severe asthmatic reaction. Based on my experience, with the unresponsive management team and the toxic chemicals in the apartment I recommend avoiding this apartment building and any Windsor communities if you value your health. There are many other apartments in nearby that are in the same price range that have responsive management and no strong toxic smells. read more

Jessica Roberts and her team over at IO piazza are amazing. I just moved in and am not an easy client. I had to coordinate renting two storage units, two parking spaces, the move in, and multiple other things. They were always on call, respectful and efficient. I've always owned, so as a first time renter, but a real estate professional who deals with these types of transactions daily at a very high level - they were excellent. Couldn't recommend enough read more

The IO Piazza is such an amazing apartment complex! I just moved in, and I am already in love! Dejah has been an excellent person of contact. She is extremely informative, kind, knowledgeable, and friendly. She has honestly made this move-in process such a breeze! Cannot wait to make unforgettable memories in my new apartment. read more

I'm truly stunned by the overwhelmingly positive reviews of this building and management company. We recently moved out after only 1 year - in part because they raised our rent an astounding 14% in our renewal offer, but also because we had a genuinely terrible experience and couldn't put up with it any longer. The first and most important thing you need to know is that the walls are incredibly thin. The style of the building is "loft/industrial style" which sounds cool, but then you realize that there is no drywall on the ceiling. We lived under incredibly disruptive neighbors and had to deal with an insane amount of noise at all hours of the day and night. We brought this to the building's attention repeatedly and they did absolutely nothing to address the issue. I've lived in apartments for more than 10 years and realize that noise comes with the territory. But this was not normal apartment noise - our walls and windows would literally shake and it was beyond stressful to live in this situation. The units themselves are an "Instagram vs. Reality" type situation - the ones management selects photograph well, but our unit felt super run down. When we moved in, the carpet had been installed incorrectly and we had to contact management about exposed nails in the floors. Our washing machine smelled of mold and the cabinets were peeling. More than anything, the layouts made no sense. Each bedroom had 4 doors between closets and entries/exits - making it like a game of Tetris to place furniture and make good use of the space. Another thing to note is that they claim to be a "pet-friendly" building and are anything but. What they don't tell you on the tour is that pets have to use a separate elevator and exit at the back of the building that involves walking through the parking garage in between where cars are entering and exiting. This can be extremely dangerous at busy times of the day. They also have a policy they call "poo prints" where they take a DNA sample from your dog - it's way over the top and weird, and of course they don't mention it on the tour and you have to read about it in the lease. During the pandemic they got rid of their 24-hour concierge. The building is not secure at all - you will constantly see delivery people or guests of residents wandering through the halls. Many of our neighbors had doorbell cameras, which I've never seen in an apartment building - but I understood once I realized how many random people there are in the building at any given time. In the year that we lived there, cars in the parking garage had windows broken and items stolen numerous times. Instead of doing something to address the security issue in the building, management sent emails reminding residents that "we live in a city" and we should "be aware of our surroundings." They took zero responsibility for the fact that non-residents were able to get in and out of the building alarmingly easily. Elevators and garage doors were constantly broken while we were there. There was a set of elevators out more often than not, and one of the garage doors was broken for about a month. We also received an email almost every week letting us know of some big maintenance project or flooring repair happening that would cause noise - it almost became comical. The finishes and materials throughout the building are so incredibly cheap that it makes sense they're always fixing something. The property manager was inconsistently responsive. I had an incident with another resident who was belligerently drunk in the lobby and berated and harassed me for not using the pet exit with my dog at midnight. At first she seemed to be taking the situation seriously, but I followed up with her and she never responded. I got the impression that this other person was a longtime resident and she didn't want to have any issues with him. It was really disappointing. Finally, management never changed the name on our mailbox for the entire time we lived there - it was always the previous residents. This seems like a super minor thing, but when you're paying that much for rent you'd think and you've lived there for a year, you'd think they could get around to changing the label. It was yet another example of how inattentive they were. Overall we had an overwhelmingly negative experience at Io Piazza and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

I understand that residents should communicate with each other regarding noise issues. However, I would expect a property management company as large as Windsor Communities to "manage" its buildings which includes helping to remedy noise issues. read more

Lived here for two years after moving to DC. it is expensive but that's just what the market is. The management is very responsive and everything worked just as promised. Concierge service varies between really friendly and lumpish, but they're always there when scheduled. My only complaints were jerks who smoked on their balconies and threw their butts onto our terrace on Fifth floor, and other jerks who let their dogs urinate in the pet-designated elevators. Those really are my only complaints. Hell, proximity to Carlyle and Best Buns offsets those things. read more

IO Piazza by Windsor - Io Piazza - Apartments Near Me - Arlington, Virginia

My time here at Io Piazza is coming to an end, but I've enjoyed every minute of being here. The office staff is the best I've ever had the pleasure of interacting with of all the places I've ever lived. Seriously, there are some horror stories of properties out there, but Io isn't one of them. Casie and Hilary are the friendliest people, extremely thorough with any request I've ever had, and even check in every now and then to see how things are going. Professional and approachable, without being nosy. The apartment is beautiful. High end finishes, low monthly utilities because of new HVAC equipment and water heater, and new energy efficient appliances in the kitchen. Open floor plan that's perfect for having a good number of people over. My place overlooks 395, which might turn some people off, but I really enjoy just absentmindedly watching cars go by. It's "loft style" apartments and THANK GOODNESS for that. I've lived in an actual converted loft before and holy crap can it suck (wasted space, always cold except for three weeks in the summer, high utility bills if you want to make it even close to comfortable). I never had to submit any maintenance request here at Io. Neighbors are friendly but also respectful of personal space. I have heard some noise through the walls, but only on two occasions (I think they were putting up wall decorations). You don't have to worry about pest infestation or smells - people here are clean and so is the building. Sharing the grilles on the 5th floor terrace has never been an issue. It's really convenient, and the views of four mile run and the hill are gorgeous. The neighborhood is AWESOME. Huge variety of restaurants, bars, an artsy movie theater that plays less common films, Busboys and Poets, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington down the street, walking/running trail on four mile run, clean ART buses from the nearby transportation hub that take you to Clarendon/Courthouse. The building is 50 feet from 395 so easy access to DC. And it's safe as hell - I regularly walk all over Shirlington after 1am because of my little furry one. In the summer there's a concert series + wine tastings every Thursday. Good music and lots of people having an enjoyable evening. And in the summer, the trees are lit up at night with white christmas lights so it's really pretty to walk around. I have a dog, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. Everyone in the building with a dog is so friendly, the neighborhood is extremely dog friendly (restaurant with water bowls, poop bags every block, the Shirlington dog park across the street), and the building has a separate dog entrance with its own bay of elevators. No weight limit, though there's breed restrictions now, so that sucks. It's no surprise that you're not going to get all of this for cheap. It's no diamond in the rough where you get a great building in a crappy neighborhood, or an awesome neighborhood but terrible apartment or anything like that. It's a great place to live on all fronts and REASONABLY priced for everything you get. (I figured I should make this clear 'cause that first person that gave it a one star didn't even live here. Moms...) CONS of my personal experience: - There was a period when we had a lot of puppies move in at once and there was a higher than average amount of puddles in the elevator bay/garage. It lasted for about a week or so, but then went back to normal (dogs have accidents, and little ones more often - it happens). - The front desk only just stopped buzzing delivery people in, which sucks 'cause you have to go down to get your food. Then again there's some kind of a buzz system at the front door, but I think it only works with a land line (land lines in 2014 HA!). I could be wrong on this, though. - I wish there was a dedicated linen closet in my apartment. I don't know if that's a thing in other apartments, but it wasn't difficult to get my own storage for extra towels. OFFBEAT: - There was a bank robbery one day in early spring at the tiny bank right down + across the street. For real, a legit bank robbery... in this day and age. It was during lunch and I was on the grassy median trying to get my pup to go #2 (yup, I was in the back of the news shots of the crime scene screaming "Come on, poop already!"). I hadn't even realized there was a bank there. - I speak Italian and the building name is weird. Literally means "Me city square" or "I city square". What? Why? OK. It sounds cool to all my friends. FINAL VERDICT: I absolutely recommend Io Piazza. [Since you're probably wondering: the reason I'm not staying is because I'm looking to buy my own place in less than a year, so I'm moving in with my brother for the last kick before taking the plunge, which will help me add more to my down payment read more

We lived in Io Piazza for a number of years and it was a really great renting experience. We moved away from the area for work, but otherwise would have continued to stay here. The location in Shirlington is perfect and we always enjoyed the proximity to the restaurants and shops in the Shirlington Village. The property manager, Hilary, is very professional and kind and makes sure that any issues are addressed. Likewise, the rest of the leasing office staff was always responsive and professional. Things we really enjoyed: the property is clean and well maintained, it's pet friendly, indoor parking, timely maintenance response, workout area, common terrace with grills, and location in Shirlington. read more

I can't say enough good things about Io Piazza! I was only planning to stay for a few months but ended up living here for over 2 years. The leasing team is top notch - one of the best customer service I have experienced (Thank you Hilary and Kathy in particular). The staff knows you by name and makes every effort to make you feel at home and meet your needs. Communication between management and tenants is excellent and any requests for repairs or maintenance are handled promptly and efficiently. The building is well built, modern and quiet (though you can hear traffic noise from certain places). It is dog-friendly and there is a small gym, an outdoor patio area, as well as periodic fun gatherings for all tenants. The Shirlington location is great - walking distance to lots of restaurants, trails, dog park etc. It is expensive and does not have a pool, but if you want the best of rental places in the area, this is it! read more

I lived here for almost two years but decided not to renew my lease this time around. First issue is the massive year over year rent increases. Last year, it was about 8% and this year they wanted 10%. They never mentioned that when I signed up. It's absurd considering the building is not near a subway line and they offered no additional value for that money. Second, I heard my neighbors quite clearly through the bedroom wall even when they were just at normal conversational volume. That's unacceptable for the kind of rent I paid. Third, I had periodic issues with finding a parking space in the garage if I came home after about 10pm even though there are a ton of reserved spaces sitting empty. Lastly, in under two years, the front office staff turned over completely three times. On the plus side, the units are attractive if you like the faux loft look. The appliances are on the higher end for an apartment. The floors are mostly Pergo which I like for cleanliness. The building is very walkable to the shops and restaurants in Shirlington and I've never felt unsafe here. read more

Pros: - Attentive, caring, professional management (Hillary and Kathy, thank you!) - Generally quiet building, thicker walls than most other newer buildings in Arlington, and management will enforce quiet-time rules that are best for all of us - Modern, luxurious design - Generally friendly tenants - Well-managed package receipt/pick-up process - Excellent, lively location with restaurants, bars, movie theatre, drug store, hospital, dog park all nearby - Scheduled shuttle to and from Pentagon City Metro - Fast, well-maintained elevators - Great online system for managing leasing issues/reserving freign elevator/maintenance requests/accessing community message board - Covered parking - Nice, small gym with windows looking onto the street - Discounts at local restaurants to building residents - Community volunteer/giving options provided by management - Clean despite allowing dogs in the building (as all rental properties should--learn from the IO Piazza!) Cons - No direct metro access (shuttle compensates nicely for this during peak hours) - You pay for everything! Including parking spot, whether reserved or not: this place is not for penny-pinchers - Security is currently good, but will hopefully be improved: There should be cameras at all door entrances into building and especially parking garage - Water pressure issue throughout the building causes slight problems with toilets, and water taking a while to heat up - No pool (I don't care about this at all, and prefer not having one as it's too expensive especially when it can only operate a few months out of the year here in this climate, but for some people this is important) I have lived all over DC/VA/MD and the IO Piazza is the best building I have rented in because of the excellent management system and managers (thank you Hillary and Kathy!) and attentive maintenance staff (the two head maintenance men are excellent, hard-working). At a luxury building, you can imagine the kind of tenants management deals with, but they handle us all with grace and care, and never make you feel like you don't matter. This is an expensive building that sees upper-end rent increases each year, but you get what you pay for, which is superior maintenance and management at a beautiful building in a wonderful location. read more

Moved in last month and could not be more pleased. The facilities are great and very well built. We downsized from a town home and love the new lifestyle of Shirlington and all it offers. But best of all at IO Piazza is the leasing team. Brittany Arnett, a gem, made the process a breeze. And Kristen and Hillary continue the first-class customer service we've received from day one. Caring, patient, helpful. If this is typical of Windsor properties, kudos for setting the standard so high. read more

If you want patience, customer service, and a caring, responsive touch, IO Piazza is your place. From the second I met Brittany Arnett and the leasing team, I was treated with a class of customer service that I've rarely experienced in any industry. I looked into other places in Shirlington, like Delancey, but nothing held a candle to the quality of apartments, responsiveness of management, and the overall quality of the feel of the facility like IO Piazza. Not even close. The management goes to extreme lengths to ensure every resident feels safe, repairs are handled, and, most importantly, that it feels like home and not just some revenue generating, packing plant that other places feel like. Also, It was a pleasure to see everyone from the leasing team actually talk to every resident in passing and addressing residents by their names. That proved to me that the leasing team took the time to get to know who calls IO home. It also shows that the leasing team shares leadership qualities that are certainly hard to come by these days. Moreover, I was experiencing a job transition where I was not sure that DC would be where I ended up. It was a stressful several months, but Brittnay went out of her way to reach out to me even just to offer positive words of encouragement and to ensure that they were doing all they could to keep a place ready for me once I received an offer. This personal touch meant the world to me and Brittnay was the first call I made when I got my offer. From there, she made the logistics of renting extremely easy. Yesterday, I walked into my apartment and was floored at the added touches Brittnay provided to make my arrival extra special. I hope the Windsor company recognizes how talented and valuable the team is that runs the IO Piazza leasing office. They have a synergy that is unmatched compared to other leasing offices and Windsor needs to do whatever they can to keep that team together and cared for---they are the reason people lease with IO. Certainly why I did. read more

My husband and I have been living in the DC area for almost nine years and this is our fifth place in that period of time. The rental market here is a nightmare--competitive and ridiculously overpriced. Which is precisely why I'm so pleased to have found an apartment that I can see us staying in for years. Much of our trouble in finding the right place had to do with my resistance to moving into a large building. I'm sensitive to neighbor noise (blaring televisions, loud gatherings, barking dogs..etc) and have read many horror stories online about apartment buildings with paper thin walls. After taking a tour of the IO Piazza, I finally decided to take a chance, and I couldn't be happier. It's been almost two months and we haven't experienced a single noise issue. Although we're very fortunate to have an end unit, I don't think it would even be a problem elsewhere in the building. Quiet alone would be more than enough to make me happy, but we actually love almost everything about the property. Our neighbors all seem nice, the community is very pet friendly (but has a number of reasonable rules in place to prevent dogs from taking over), the staff couldn't be more helpful and accommodating, and Shirlington is surprisingly adorable--I wasn't super enthused about moving out of the District. I think the only thing the community is slightly lacking in are amenities. There is a modest gym on the first floor and a nice terrace area with seating and grills, but no rooftop access or pool. That being said, I'd much rather have a great apartment in a quiet building than a pool. Overall, we love this place and would highly recommend at least checking it out. We had all but decided on a place three blocks away, but decided to tour the IO Piazza at the last minute. We changed our minds right on the spot and filled out applications immediately. :) One last thing. I have noticed that many of the complaints have to do with cost/rent increases. Anyone who has lived in the area of any substantial period of time knows that DC is an exceptionally expensive place to live--it's unfortunate, but that's just the reality. Rent changes annually based on demand in all buildings, not just this one. Our two bedroom/two bath corner unit isn't cheap, but at $2650 a month, it's $100 cheaper than what we paid in Columbia Heights for a one bedroom/one bath apartment that was almost half the size. Good luck finding a better building at a better value that doesn't include an hour long commute. read more

I just moved into IO Piazza and have been truly impressed with the outstanding service from Casie and Jessica. I had zeroed in on the Shirlington Village area and had seen IO Piazza on the internet, but originally thought the units looked a little too industrial for my tastes. However, I ended up stopping by the building and was pleasantly surprised by the warm vs cold environment within the units. The most persuasive selling feature though was the professionalism and sincerity demonstrated by the office staff; which in my experience is a very telling sign about what type of experience you will have living within the building. I wanted to move in as quickly as possible due to my work travel schedule. The IO staff went out of their way to ensure my application was processed quickly and all the preparation work was done within 24 hours -- I literally received the keys 24 hours after submitting the application. I am looking forward to a great living experience at IO Piazza. read more

I was still living in Chicago, looking for a place in the DMV, when I came across a stellar deal at IO Piazza. I called two days after I saw the listing and unfortunately, like most communities in the area, the prices change almost daily and it had already increased. I was lucky enough to connect with Brittany at IO as my leasing agent, and she is amazing! I told her my price point, and anytime anything remotely came close to my budget, she would email me details and photos. During my apartment search, my father passed away, and she even reached out just to check on me, apartment hunting aside. She is a genuine human being! Brittany and her husband recently relocated to the area on a military move. She was working for a Windsor community in an another state and transferred to IO. We're lucky to have her in the area! read more

I moved to the DMV from Denver last year and was forced to rent sight unseen. I couldn't have made out any better than I did by finding the IO Piazza in Shirlington! First of all, Brittany, Kristen and Casie made my transition from Colorado to the DC area as easy as it could possibly have been and then have been an absolute delight to have as the management team here throughout this past year. Hillary replaced Casie and fit right in with the level of care and professionalism that I had become accustom to with Brittany and Kristen and Casie. The building is easily the nicest in Shirlington. I was in a 2 bedroom 2 bath and it is a gorgeous condo! The building is kept absolutely immaculate, the maintenance team is courteous and prompt and the residents are polite and professional (definitely not a party building). Last and certainly not least, this building is very dog friendly and the residents are respectful and clean up after their furry friends. If I wasn't moving into my own single family home with a yard, I definitely would have stayed here! read more

I've lived in Io Piazza since 2009, minus 2 years I wasn't in the area. I was so happy to get back here! First of all, you can't beat the area. Shirlington Village has an AMC Theater, Signature Theater, Harris Teeter, Lots of restaurants, a dog store and Shirlington Animal Hospital. It's very close to DC, so my commute is short. Everything is a short commute without having to be in the middle of the noise of the city or downtown Arlington. When it was time to renew my lease I looked at the options in my price range at other apartments in the area. What this apartment has over the ones I saw: hardwood floors, high ceilings, floor to ceiling windows, a beautiful view, a separate bathtub and shower, a balcony, privacy, very quiet! Hilary, the Property Manager and her team couldn't be nicer or more helpful. They worked with me to find the right apartment, and are always available to answer any questions. Both the maintenance team and the conceirge team have been exceptional. read more

My daugher lives here. Waaaaay too expensive for what you get! I really liked this place till they raised my rent $359. The computer tells them what to do.

I moved into the IO from the Windsor at Shirlington in August of 2014. Hilary was my primary leasing agent and she was patient, reiterated when I needed it on specifics for my move-in and never switched personalities after I moved in and throughout my stay there. Casey the manager was just as attentive in listening and reacting to any complaint I had immediately. I was treated as I would expect in this upscale apartment home building. The rent may have been higher than other places, but you can't beat living right off 395. I could go North or South without any inconvenience right out of the parking garage. My apartment overlooked the baseball park, trees and little river and jogging trail. Serene. I didn't mind the minor traffic noise of buses or trucks because the building was entirely made of very thick concrete and double pain windows which kept my electric bill low for my one bed one bath with a full size porch. You get what you pay for here. Beautiful granite countertops, stainless steel appliances with filtered water for the fridge, real hardwood floors, carpet in my bedroom and a rock tiled bathroom. I was paying the same rent as I was at the Windsor at Shirlington. No brainer for me because the Windsor is an older property made of wood and stucco (yet it was completely renovated and painted on the exterior of the entire property as of August 2014). The maintence was quick and attentive and very polite, yet they were rarely requested by me. The grounds and inside was always clean and ready to showcase. Yet only issue I had were stinky people who didn't clean their laundry or clean their litter bkx which sometimes permeated the hallway, but never crept inside my apartment. Noise from the outside in the hallway, upstairs or to my left or right was really negligible. I paid $50 to park inside the garage which I never do without in this area. Never. You can pay for reserved parking, but I never needed it. Plenty of space to park AND since I lived on the third floor I parked right outside my apartment. Platinum! Like my own house. The rent would be raised at the end of my lease because that's the way things are around here. They base things off the housing market of apartments with wants/need yet Hilary would work with me on getting a fair rate. Always, always, always talk with them. When you get your notice, don't think that will be the set rent increase. It could change week to week just like the stock market so close on your lease when the rate is at a point you can accept. I never got to go past a year because of my retirement, but I wouldn't have dared to move. I was 15 to DC on a bad traffic day and I live in Shirlington Village! Come on guys. I don't have to drive for groceries because Shirlington Village has a Harris Teeters, a movie theater, restaurants, pubs, pizza, a library, a theater....what more do you want in this area! Sure you can find cheaper rent! But at the cost of driving in more traffic at the end of the day or beginning during a workweek! Please. In fact they have a free shuttle to the Pentagon day and night Mon-Fri (comes with rent) AND the concierge in the lobby gives free coffees, teas, and on Saturdays free bagels! Your also within a couple blocks to the metro bus station. They also have quarterly socials with brunches, late night meet and greets with alcohol, I mean guys.....the IO treated me right and for the money it gave me sanity from DC, a sanctuary, peace, and I felt good coming to this temporary home. Oh, also a very dog friendly property and area. Very. Don't forget cleaned out daily stainless steel BBQs on the fifth floor that has a largefountain for tranquility. Go see it for yourself. You'll love it! read more

We love living at Io Piazza. Never had any problems other than typical minor issues that were immediately fixed. Can't say that about the last place we lived. My significant other and I have been living in IO Piazza by Windsor since May 2015 but we have lived in this neighborhood, Shrilington, since 2013. Our experience with IO Piazza has been awesome; all the staffs, Hillary, Casie, Kristen, and Brittany, have been very helpful and have been offered the most decent services since we started living in this community. All the neighbors have been great and nice. I never had any issues with the community and neighbors so far. I personally never had problems with the pets but the private elevators for the residences with the pets are absolutely brilliant ideas for those who don't feel comfortable with the animals. Locations is the most advantageous factor of this living in this community. When I used to commute to DC, it took me less than 15 minutes during moderate/no traffic hours. Maintenance staffs have been responded and helped us out very promptly.Concierge staffs are also awesome and I am very happy with the new concierge staffs who never reluctant to help us out. Unfortunately we have to leave this lovely community within a couple of months because of work location issues but I know I will be missing this community a lot. read more

I lived in the building more than three years and couldn't be happier to be out of the building. The location couldn't be better in hip Shirlington with easy access by either private or public transportation into the city. The units are new and very modern. However, the construction is of low quality. Conversations can be heard through the walls, and the toilets did not flush properly for more than 2 years despite repeated maintenance calls. New management/maintenance started within the past year, and the responsiveness has dropped tremendously. The building charges for parking but oversells the lot. Any complaints about lack of parking result in same response of "get to the building soon, find parking somewhere else, or pay more to get a reserved spot." Don't be fooled by low introductory rents because the annual increases are far higher than I have heard from other people living in the area. Over the two actual renewals and third offered renewal, the rent increases averaged 7-12%. The building also "introduced" numerous new fees that were never part of the lease agreements. Essentially the building is run like a very expensive slum. And the expense is largely unjustified because the building is not on a subway line or have the amenities or comparably-priced and compably-located buildings. I would not recommended this building or any building managed by Windsor. I wish it were possible to give less than 1 on this rating. read more
