I worked here for 5 years and can say that the residents were amazing people. They understood the issues that Property Managers face and made my job delightful. The staff put customer service at the forefront of their duties and the residents not only noticed but would often show their appreciation to that dedication. Had an issue with my bathroom lighting this morning. Submitted a maintenance request and from the time it was completed, less than an hour total. Not only did the Service Tech (Abenezer) promptly fix the issue, he noted that my bathroom fan vent needed cleaning and took care of that as well! The pandemic has driven rent prices down across the DC Metro area, Crystal City included. I lived in a building down the street and you could tell they were re-pricing their units using the Amazon effect, which made me look at 220. 220 has always been priced higher due to its location and the size of the units but the pandemic has driven rates down and are quite competitive. Since my initial review, a satisfaction survey from JBG went out to all resident (this could just be a coincidence, as resident surveys are done around this time of year). JBG demonstrates good practice of hiring from within and giving people opportunities, which I respect. I encourage JBG to provide on-going professional development training. Now, onto my property review. As we all know, Amazon is moving into the area, so in order to compete, the resident experience will need to be supreme. When I look at an apartment. I look for utility and proximity to work. This apartment building is .3 miles to work and during pre-pandemic was amazing. Convenience and commute cost and time savings justified the rent rate and made red flags palatable. In a post-pandemic scenario, not so much. Square Footage 5/5. Generous square footage. Plenty of kitchen and bathroom storage. Walk in closets. Ample living space. Maintenance 5/5. Superb. Quick response and most jobs are completed in 24 hours. Customer Service 2.5/5. Since I complained, e-mail response has been better, but I know it's because I made a stink. It should never have gotten to that point or JBG needs to invest and hire more leasing office staff. This probably would have ranked higher if I interacted more with Patrice - I vibed with her energy better and it was organic. She knows her stuff and the experience shows. Concierge 2.5/5. Hit or miss. Some are better than others. Unclear if the ones that aren't the best are employed by JBG or are contractors. Some definitely give the don't bother me energy. Luckily, I don't get many packages so I have very little interaction. Internet Service Options 5/5. Good Options. This building offers: -Starry (Phenomenal! Next day installation. Find a 2-month free code on the internet) -Verizon -Xfinity Utilities -Dominion Power -Water - billed through shared system -Building HVAC and Electricity billed through shared system Parking -$125/month -Plenty of Spots Random Fees -$10 Conservice set-up fee for water and building HVAC and Electricity. -$20 Package Concierge Fee (JBG needs to absorb this cost. Who's really getting the convenience?) Random Thoughts -Vending machine in the building would be a bonus. -As Amazon workers move in and the building becomes less transient, it might be worth looking at offering more resident networking events. -------- UPDATE: Initiated a call with Community Manager to share grievances. TBD any changes ------------------ Don't lease here if you want a community feel or your resident emails promptly answered. I'm in the hospitality/customer service industry as well and the response rate (if you get one) leaves much to be desired. I am constantly chasing for follow-ups. read more

It's conveniently located near a ton of great food options and 2 CVS within walking distance. The front desk is friendly and professional, and my packages are always handled with care. My husband and I have been living here for a little more than a year and half. The amenities are great, Luna Lounge up on the rooftop is top of the line with amazing furniture and space to host friends and families. The pool is a good size with a great view of the Reagan airport. The grills on the rooftop are gas grills, absolutely love grilling there on a nice sunny day, great area for entertaining while cooking. Plenty of space outside on the rooftop as well with 360 degree views of all of DC to VA (National Harbor). Gym is great, has all state of the art equipment and well kept. The apartment is a block away from the Crystal City Metro and plenty of restaurants, grocery stores, etc walking distance! There is also access to the Mt. Vernon Trails, 15-20 minutes by bike to the National Mall. Most of all, the staff at 220 is by far the BEST you'll ever have. They truly care about your input, concerns and the quality of living which makes this such luxury living. Concierge Toni, Monet and Charlene are AMAZING, they always greet you with a warm smile and are willing to help with anything you need. They really are the face of the apartment and we appreciate all their hard work. Secondly, the maintenance staff Floyd and Ed are by far on top of their game. I've put in service requests and had them come in and fix ANYTHING on the same day. As if nothing was broken to begin with. They are friendly and extremely professional. Last but not least, the Leasing Office crew Phil, Chris and Patrice, they keep this ship running and are on top of all your needs and concerns. They truly care about the community and are always willing to go above and beyond for the residents here at 220. With all that said, my husband and I resigned a new lease for another 2 years which is the longest we can do here at 220. We'd go longer if we could! Absolutely recommend!!! read more

The construction noise day-in and day-out is horrible, and it's not just from the 1900 Crystal Drive site. There is currently (I think, jack-hammering) going on in the building in the parking garage. It started at 7am this morning -- nice way to wake up... The noise never gets better. One project will end, and another begins. Ask yourself if it's worth paying a premium for an apartment only to be subjected to construction noise everyday, and sometimes late into the night. It's not really the building's fault, it's the fault of local officials. Arlington's elected officials don't care about your mental wellbeing, they care about getting Amazon in here ASAP, and creating a gentrified playground for tech workers. If that means construction at 2am, then so be it. You'll never have peace and quiet here or anywhere else in Crystal City. read more

I stopped in to your property on Sunday to see if I could get a walk-in tour, and the Concierge Tracy informed me that the office wasn't open yet but she could assist me with making an appointment. After she made my appointment I asked her some questions about the building itself. Tracy went into detail about the the amenities and the close proximity of the subway.Tracy not only told me verbally but provided me with a price sheet that gave an overview of the renting process. I've lived here for 2 years in a 2bd apartment with a roommate. This is by far and large the best place I've lived. The building is great, with floor to ceiling windows on all exterior walls in the apt's. The kitchens are large with up to date appliances and oversized refrigerators. Maintenance is very responsive, and follow up on all work orders. I was forgotten about a couple times, but in the follow up, they caught it and responded immediately. The norm is same day response though. Most all of my maintenance requests were for routine things, nothing major. The A/C quit once, but was fixed within hours. The walls and windows are pretty sound resistant. You will quickly realize this when you open your patio door; the white noise in the area is a lot (city life), but you don't notice it when the doors and windows are closed. The only time we heard our upstairs neighbors was when a kid occasionally was bouncing a ball (at least that's what it sounded like). The building: The common areas are cleaned daily. Even the trash rooms are checked on a daily basis and cleaned out. Concierge service is almost always pleasant and helpful. Management is very helpful and do there best to resolve any concerns. Patrice (the assistant manager) is THE BEST! This biggest problem I had was with packages, but that was due to Amazon not delivering packages tot he proper location, NOT the fault of building staff. However, staff did help me find the packages each time it happened. This building's best amenity is the roof top terrace area. It's currently the tallest building, so it has 360 views that are amazing, especially during storms! The gym is very basic, but adequate. Parking is only building complaint I have as it is very expensive in Crystal City, and the garage owners should be doing A LOT more to maintain the garage at these prices. The garage has leaks in the ceiling so watch where you park; since the ceiling is painted, the leaks WILL stain your car. The garage could also use better lighting in the resident park areas. Interesting that the public parking above is super nice, but the resident parking has been left to degrade even though they're managed by the same company... :-/ JBG should be doing more to re-enforce better conditions. The area: Crystal City is developing constantly, always improving on what was, to make it new, better, and community friendly. The construction is a going to be a pain in the behind for several years to come, but it doesn't cause much inconvenience. Many complain about the coming of Amazon, but the changes that happening are good changes for the area. Considering this used to be the industrial slums, and prostituteville, Crystal City has come A LONG WAYS! However, the down side is that prices are quickly going up and it's quickly becoming unaffordable for anyone who's not an executive, making big money. This is my largest complaint about living here; although the price is relatively competitive, JBG should be doing more to keep the prices down in order to hold on to it's current residents in the area. I would love to live here by myself, without a roommate, but it's nearly impossible to afford a 1 bed apt. I really really want to stay here, but without a roommate, this just may not be possible for me, so my lease will end soon and I'll be forced to move out of the area because NOTHING else is even close to affordable without a roommate. The price is the ONLY thing that keeps this from getting 5 stars. read more

We scheduled a maintenance at night and early the next morning, Abenezer Habebo came and fixed my heater quickly and efficiently! Several years living here. My review is just about my experience living in the building (not the neighborhood/ Amazon's impact). 5/5 Stars for Concierge and Maintenance Support! Specifically Tracy, Tony, Angela, and Kevin! They are all wonderful, caring, always helpful, and make living here feel like a community!!! They are great to chat with, they all handle tough/busy situations with ease, and are just overall really nice people :) 4/5 Stars for the building. Proximity to DC/the highway, square footage, amenities, are all wonderful. There are so many new apartments going up in the area, but you will be hard pressed to find something considered "luxury" with the amount of space and amenities you can get at 220 for the price - especially if you are a new tenant moving into the building! I give 4/5 for two reasons. 1- If you have been living here for a few years don't expect to get any specials or discounts they are offering new tenants (or some current tenants) if you are interested in switching units. They have changed their policy on this multiple times (which happened to occur when we were looking to switch units recently). 2- As hard as the building tries (and they do try), there is still an ongoing problem with tenants allowing their dogs to urinate right outside the backdoor. The gate to the dog park has also been broken for over a year. This becomes a hazard because it is close to a back road/car lot and the door to the gate can be easily pushed open by an eager pup or even a strong gust of wind (i've seen it happen). These two things are note a huge deal for me as I still love the apartment and overall I have had a great experience living here. The building also did a good job adjusting to COVID in my opinion. read more

WAY more cons than pros. Not what I would ever classify as "luxury" - Non-responsive to maintenance requests. DAILY, heavy dog urination in common areas/right outside the main entrance. (See posted pics!) Requested signs be put up to request residents not have their dogs urinate right by the door. Nothing happened. After multiple complaints, we were told to use another entrance. - Garage had leaking pipes (looked like sewage pipes) and funky smells--Construction in the garage left our car covered in dust multiple time. When we complained, we were told 220 was renting it from another company so there was nothing they could do about it. - Dishwasher was NOT actually washing dishes. Totally unsanitary. Requested maintenance. No response multiple times and then a small bottle of a dish-washing agent and the manual were left for us on the kitchen counter. -The rent is super expensive considering the poor service/amenities you get. We were paying ~$3,000 for a one bedroom with den. read more

Good: The building is nice, the front desk staff is awesome. Units are reasonably priced for the area. Maintenance is very responsive. Bad: Property management lacked basic customer service skills... Moving out was made as difficult as possible... I even had to consult a lawyer to make sure I understood real estate law correctly to be able to break my lease. The gym equipment was always under maintenance. Half of the parking garage was closed for six months but residents were still charged the full price for parking. Someone was smoking on my floor, and for weeks, the floor smelled like cigarettes. read more

At 220, you'll love the amenities, fabulous team, quick response by maintenance, and the convenience of the location. But as I sit here, typing this at 4 a.m., there's one thing that's getting in the way of this being a four- or five-star review: construction noise. The beep-beep of vehicles, the crash of heavy equipment, the bang-bang of metal tools -- all night long.
