We have had issues with our radiant heating for years. I put them on speed dial, and I'm never calling anyone else ever again! We called three different radiant heat companies that all came out and wanted to charge us $10K. Intuitive climate control came out, diagnosed the problem and fixed it affordably! If you have an older radiant heat system, especially in an Eichler, these guys are the only people that seem to know what they are doing. My Munchkin water heater started to have some issues in early 2016, and Kevin and Justin have been helping me since then. They are competent, thoughtful, and honest. Kevin Smith was great! He was very knowledgeable about radiant floor heaters. I had another company come out and they recommended to replace the radiant floor heater. Their quote was for $11,500.00 for a new system. Needless to say we wanted a second opinion. Kevin asked us for some pictures to send to him so he would know what parts to bring with him. He cleaned out all the gunk inside the heater and replaced the pilot. Everything works great! and he says we won't have to service the furnace again for another 10 years. My 20 year old Vermont Casting Stardance gas stove finally conked out Saturday with temperature dropping rapidly in the house...spare part cannot be found, local dealers service folks not available until Monday, web search not helpful without exact model number, etc...called Intuitive Climate Control and Kevin shows up around 6 pm and was able to replace the bad part and get the heater back up. Kevin is a fantastic individual. I was having issues with a new Nest thermostat that I installed and found his contact through the Nest Pro support page. He was actually in the middle of traveling to another job, but took my call and was able to diagnose some issues I had. We exchanged few calls/texts during my ordeal and he was able to help me cross off some issues that are typical with new installs. I learned a lot about my thermostat and furnace set-up and used that information to get some additional support with a senior tech at Nest. Kevin came out at short notice to deal with a problem on a 30 year old solar water heater. He was able to figure out the rather bizarre design of the system, and determine how it could be fixed. What's more, he was able to arrange a temporary hook-up that restored domestic hot water. I should point out that another well-regarded plumbing company had given up on trying to understand the system, leaving us without hot water, or any path towards a satisfactory repair. Highest recommendation. We recently bought an Eichler with a complicated boiler/baseboard heating system that has gone through several modifications over the years. A handful of others promptly gave up troubleshooting when they weren't successful right away. Thankfully we were put in touch with Kevin. He's a busy man in early winter, but as soon as we got him out to the house, his careers worth of knowledge of these systems was immediately evident. In about an hour he had walked me through the whole setup, and diagnosed and fixed the issues with no new parts needed. Very pleasant and very reasonable price. He'll be our go to from here on out. In addition Kevin worked with the supplier to get us a discount on the replacement as our unit had a warranty that was close to expiration. He worked after hours to get our unit back on line. Kevin installed the system at our house (back before he started ICC). He or Justin came out whenever we needed work, which included patiently trying to debug a mysterious leak which turned out to be coming from another piece of equipment. Both were always patient, knowledgeable and did great work. The system is quite complicated but is very cleanly and clearly laid out and easy to understand. They were always good in following up. I called Kevin (and he answered right away!) because it appeared my Eichler's boiler was not working. It turns out that he did a lot of work with Matt Kahn, the original Eichler designer, and consequently he knows Eichler design inside and out and in addition, knows what the Eichler designers were thinking of when they actually designed the houses. Invaluable insight you cannot find elsewhere.. Anyways, he asked me to send him a picture of our system. He called me back immediately, asked me a couple of questions, and told me exactly what was wrong with my system, and how to fix it without paying anything.............. If I ever have another problem with heating and cooling with any place I or my tenants are living, I'll be calling these guys. Kevin has been to our home twice. First visit was to check out our radiant heating system -- which I only wish he had installed. His advice was extremely valuable. Second visit was to figure out why we didn't have any hot water, even though our boiler was working perfectly. Turned out, our under-sink pump wasn't working due to a broken valve, so the cold water was backing up into the hot water flow. Of course this was on the coldest day of the year! Kevin came out on New Year's Eve day to make the needed repairs so we wouldn't be without hot water over the long weekend, replacing the cheap valve inside the pump with a solid external valve. What a great guy! If you are planning ANY work involving high (or low) tech heating or hot water systems, call Kevin BEFORE you make a decision. He will save you a lot of time, money and grief. Kevin is my new favorite contractor! I recently moved into a home with radiant floor heating and I'm still on the learning curve with this type of heating system. A few mornings back, I noticed the pressure gauge was reading what I thought to be too low. Worried that something might be terribly wrong, I went through the instructions I had to shut the system down. I phoned one company that was well reviewed on this site but, after four days, they hadn't returned my call. A call to a second company kindly referred me to Kevin, as they were less familiar with the brand of system in my home. A huge shout-out to Kevin! Friday night, 7pm, Memorial Day Weekend, I received an urgent email from our tenant that there was no hot water or heat. They had had someone else come out during the day but all they said was that the ignition switch needed to replaced and the part wouldn't be available until Tuesday AFTER the weekend, if then. I found Kevin through Yelp, called him at 8:15pm, and he actually answered the phone! Friday night! Memorial Day Weekend! I didn't recall the brand of boiler but the tenants called him and he started troubleshooting (and didn't sound worried AT ALL about getting the boiler working in short order). He had a previous engagement on Saturday but was up at the house (which is off Skyline, in the middle of nowhere) early Saturday evening. He was able to get the boiler working asap. When I spoke with him today, he said he'd call a rep about our specific boiler to get more details, then order a certain part and possibly a spare since we live so far out. He'd also find out any quirky things about this particular boiler to determine what else should be done to keep this boiler in tip-top shape. Then, armed with more relevant information, he or his son will head up to replace the questionable igniter and perform any other servicing. It is very tough to find someone that is RELIABLE, KNOWLEDGEABLE, RESPONSIVE, and FRIENDLY all in one package, especially pertaining to a pretty unique hydronic heating system at a home that is in a very remote area. Forgive me for coming back to Yelp to give Kevin another shout, but I would like to share a story about how he saved us once again after I bought a new "Smart" thermostat. The Nest comes in a delightful little brown box and claims to be self-install, but unfortunately, not in my home with its 60-year-old wiring. We could not figure out how to install the darn thing despite watching all the online video tutorials and troubleshooting with a Nest tech guru over the phone (we even sent him pictures of the wiring configuration). Then, we gave Kevin a call. In less than 5 minutes, over the phone, he solved our problem (there were multiple wires attached to our old system and the old wires came in different colors from the new configurations so the Nest diagrams would never work anyway--who knew?). Our Hero!!! Kevin helped us fix a problem with our radiant that we have had since it was installed 10 years ago. Multiple people trouble shooting over the years :( We called Kevin to help with our on demand heater that is connected to our radiant heating and kitchen/bathroom. He diagnosed our possible problem over the phone and ordered the part. He was out here as soon as the part came in and fixed that problem and installed a temperature control so we could turn up the temperature. This small fix, turning up the temp a few degrees solved the lack of heat from our radiant. Now on the coldest nights we are toasty warm. I can't thank Kevin enough! Love these guys. Truthfully, I almost want to keep them the greatest secret but they are so talented and kind that I need to share- if you have a radiant system it doesn't get better than hiring intuitive climate control to address your systems health. I have a geothermal heating system, and I have both blown heat and air and radiant heating. I needed new reliable experts, and I found them! I called Kevin to discuss my radiant side of my system, and he was extremely responsive. Kevin asked very thorough questions and we discussed the fact that I hadn't used my system in a year and wanted him to come do a tune up. I expressed some concern about checking the health of one of my Taco pumps. He was so respectful of not wanting to charge me for more than one visit, so he made sure to bring extra parts my pump and existing fittings, tooling, etc. To my amazement Justin showed up that same evening and spent a couple hours servicing my system, and now it hums( and heats) as if it were new.
