Their customer service is directed to a call center in another state. What kind of storage unit restricts access like this? How is a working person or student going to access their belongings when you can't go after work or on the weekends? They give you a "gate code" to trick you into thinking you can access your unit after hours but the codes don't even work. Not only are the times absurd, 75%+ of the units are located upstairs and there is only one elevator that works as the other is broken. If this wasn't bad enough, I got a unit over the phone and was given a price and when I got to the building the price wasn't honored and they had no idea what I was talking about. Do yourself a favor and go literally anywhere else. You'd be better off storing your things on the side of the road.

We ended up taking the trailer to Texas Trailer Repair. They were not sure how soon they could get an axle, so we had to store race car while we waited. The trailer recommended StorQuest which was only a couple miles away. The woman at the front desk was so kind and helpful. She found a unit that worked perfect for us. She took care of all our concerns and said not only is the place gated, well lit and has security cameras, she also keeps a close eye on those going in and out. She said it's a very safe place and we need not worry about the car. There was a special going on the first month, so we only had to pay $30 and if we stayed longer, the second month would be $128, which is very reasonable. We ended up only needing the unit 5 days and when my husband picked up the car she asked him to call and let her know he got back home safe. It's a bit out of the way on NW 53rd ave, but was one of the better deals in town. Be aware that there is no security gate and I hope they change that. But there are always cops around this industrial part of town, probably speed trapping people. The guy who you rent from is a very good hearted man. I was late a couple of times and even a whole month late once and he never hassled me and more surprisingly didn't charge me any extra late fees. Can't say that they do this for everyone, but I was just a random customer. They never tried to hassle me to get a larger space, just gave me what I needed, no fuss, and were always friendly. My recent experience with U-Haul was extremely disappointing, and I would not recommend their…read moreservices. A few days before my rental, U-Haul asked me to transport one of their trailers for a promised $100 payment. However, when I arrived to pick up my truck, the offer was suddenly withdrawn without explanation. My rental was scheduled from May 31 to June 2, 2026. When I arrived at the location where I had made my reservation, the representative did not introduce themselves and simply informed me that my truck had been moved to another location, wasting my time and requiring an additional trip. At the second location, another representative failed to explain the rental process and placed a $100 hold on my card without mentioning it beforehand. The truck was delivered with only a quarter tank of fuel and the check engine light already on. I immediately called U-Haul to report the issue. My original drop-off location was Daytona Beach, but when my plans changed, I called ahead and informed U-Haul that I would be returning the truck to Gainesville. Only then was I told that changing the return location would alter my contract and increase my charges. This was never explained when I picked up the vehicle. Despite returning the truck a full day early, U-Haul kept my $100 deposit, told me I owed an additional $37, and has now sent another bill for approximately $67 while threatening a $30 late fee if it is not paid promptly. The lack of communication, surprise charges, poor customer service, and constantly changing information made this one of the worst rental experiences I have ever had. I left feeling misled and frustrated, and I will not be using U-Haul again.

I was going to give two stars but after a recent email, I bumped it down to one. Last year, when I…read morefirst started using this location, I would have given it four stars, but things have drastically changed. The property is fine and relatively well-kept even. It is, however, difficult to get trucks in and out due to the layout. If there's too many people already at the facility accessing their units, you'll have a really difficult, if not impossible, time getting around with your car or truck. The office staff does rounds pretty frequently to check on things. Security is standard and I've had no issues. Some of the buildings have structural cracks in the flooring that look concerning but I don't know if it's a big issue or not. The bigger problem is that Devon Self-storage is private equity. If you're unfamiliar with that, in my experience so far, it means that the owner(s) can do what they want when they want. An example is their rates. Their rates seem great on the website. That's what got me to rent with Devon in the first place. They seem cheaper than a lot of places around town. But I've had my rates raised every six months since I moved in. My most recent rate increase was $42. That was on a unit that I just moved into in June 2026. I was paying $182. The rent will increase October 1st to $224 (with insurance it will be $242). They also owe me $146.47 as a refund when I moved out of one of their other units back in June. I've attempted to address the issue repeatedly with Chris the manager. He continues to refuse to address it. Initially Chris was great. Not sure what happened. There is a new person in the office now in addition to Chris and she's very nice but wasn't thoroughly trained and unable to help directly with a lot of issues. She just passes it along to Chris. So I cannot in good faith recommend this particular Devon Self Storage. Maybe the other ones are better but I have heard that they raise their rates often just like this one. I've waited months for my issues to be addressed. Renter beware!
