After a fun day in Seattle, but not being able to find a place to eat without paying $35 to park or…read morefind a table (for a late lunch), I remembered that some friends of ours took us to an amazing seafood place in Tacoma right next to the water...but hidden away from all the large and corporate-type restaurants on Rustin Way. I couldn't remember the name of the place, but we found it: The Fish Peddler! We must have arrived at a perfect interval because there was a table for two that had just been bussed and ready for us near the large counter in the back where food was collected by servers and presented to hungry patrons at any of the 30-40 tables. Our server was genuinely warm and delightful and guided us to the menu and the on-line beer on tap information. Drinks were ordered and delivered in minutes - just enough time for us to announce our selections: A 3-piece halibut and chips for her, and for me, the albacore tuna with spring greens and gouda cheese on sourdough with a pint of I'm Not Afraid Of Music. It had the lowest alcohol content, and since I was driving, didn't want to push my luck. When our huge white dinner plates arrived - oh - did I mention the amazing jalapeño coleslaw? - we were amazed at the size of the perfectly deep fried halibut - which, on their own, provide a good bite, making only a smitten of tartar sauce necessary because you gotta have tartar sauce with fried fish, after all, right? I picked up one my sandwich haves and removed the toothpick with too much gusto and suffered a small splinter that I couldn't remove until I got home a couple of hours later with the help of a magnifying glass, a tweezer and some masking tape. But I ignored the splinter while I enjoyed my "this is NOT your mom's - or HER mom's - Tuna melt". The perfect balance of the albacore spread with the gouda showing up gloriously in almost every bite, the pillowy and cool greens and tomato slice that balanced the heat from the albacore between the two lightly toasted sourdough was my Valentine's Day gift to my mouth. We were stuffed, but not defeated - we ordered our cheesecake to go, and I get to have the last piece of halibut for a snack later on! It was great getting re-acquainted with This cozy, fun, busy restaurant since our last (and first) visit 3 years ago. My only regret is that for some unknown but surely inexcusable reason, I had waited three years before returning. Won't happen again.

This is a casual place, but the food is quality. We got the fish and chips, which were perfectly crispy. The black cod miso was superb. Very fresh and light and flaky and flavorful. We also got the lobster roll. It definitely rivals a lobster roll from the east coast. The service was great. They took care of everything well. This isn't fancy, but it's just a good seafood place for friends, business or families.

We were out celebrating my buddy's birthday today, and started out next door for some smokes and drinks. I had a plan for some choices for his bday dinner, and he opted with Ms. Jane's inside BJ's Casino. First off... this place is very elegant with a fine dining experience. Secondly, Cassandra was absolutely superb!! We all thoroughly had an amazing experience, from the drinks, appetizers, to our entrees, and the service. The Lavender Martini was top notch, and we also ordered the White Mojito. That mojito was crisp and refreshing! Two spectacular cocktails. As for our meals, undeniably unbelievable!! I ordered the 12oz. Ribeye, with Garlic Potatoes and crisp Broccolini. So crisp and a unique almost vinaigrette flavoring, with a subtle spice. As a side, we ordered the Thousand Layer Potato. My first time ever having this, but seen how it was made on a video. Simply divine. My wife ordered the Braised Bison over Polenta, with some Carrots. This is the tastiest Bison we've ever had!! We finished the evening with a Dubai Chocolate Fudge Sunday, and Cassandra gave us each a spoon to share in this decadence. Needless to say, my buddy had an incredible day of celebration! Thank you for this wonderful experience! As always, Enjoy & Happy Birthday, Wazowski!

Turns out it's the former, at least in atmosphere. The service was genuinely lovely from start to finish. The host, server, and table assistants were warm and attentive. No notes there. We went with the ribeye prix fixe, which felt like the obvious call given that Ms. Jane's has built its reputation around it. The menu included a salad, two ribeyes with mashed potatoes and broccoli, and dessert for $150 plus wine. The salad was beautiful and delicious. It just could've used some cheese, and I will die on that hill. The mashed potatoes were legitimately outstanding and nearly redeemed the entire evening on their own. The broccoli was fine. Broccoli is always just fine. Then there were the ribeyes. They were enormous, beautifully presented, and unfortunately not much else. Both cuts had an excessive amount of fat and lacked the depth of flavor you'd expect from a restaurant that's staked its identity on this one dish. We make better steaks at home, which is not something you want to be thinking about after dropping $150 before wine. Dessert closed things out on a high note. A chocolate and vanilla mousse topped with genuinely delicate whipped cream. In the moment we told ourselves we'd come back and try something else. A few days of reflection later, that enthusiasm cooled but it didn't disappear entirely. The service was too good, the mashed potatoes too memorable, and the mousse too solid to write the place off completely. Ms. Jane's clearly has something going on. We just hope the ribeye isn't the thing they're most proud of.

A nice girls night here…read more That good ol Tacoma parking is a bitch. Once you're parked, you're good. The hostess was very nice and very attentive. She even provided us with recommendations on the menu. This lil spot in Tacoma, across from the matador is so cute. Honestly would've missed it driving by. Once you enter, it's very inviting. Has a nice chill ambiance to the place. Food was super delish. A tad on the higher priced side but totally yummy. My pork chop was HUGE!! Thick but well cooked! So much flavor through and through. Them zoodles my friend ordered was fabulous. Zero sogginess and the sauce was pretty damn good. I really like this spot. New addition to my GO-TO spots in Tacoma.

First, my apologies. I was catching up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while so forgot to take…read morepics. Nonetheless my review is detailed and honest. My first time at West 122 as I had been wanting to try this for months. Here's the positives... Love the brick and mortar ambiance inside. It just had an overall good community vibe. Presentation of food was beautiful. What else we experienced... My friend ordered a Sprite and I ordered a cocktail. She was served a lemonade and my drink was pretty sour so I ordered some simple syrup. The Sprite came but it took 20 minutes to get my simple syrup. By that time I was sort of over having a cocktail. Honestly, the venue was not full and all I wanted was some simple syrup in a shot glass. We ordered the burrata, caesar salad and the special with the octopus tentacles, asparagus, peppers and capers over polenta. The caesar salad on the menu lists "red gem lettuce tossed in house-made caesar dressing, topped with bread crumbs and shaved parmigiano reggiano. While I liked the idea of not having croutons as they're sometimes difficult to maneuver with a biteful of salad, there must have been a quarter cup of bread crumbs over the top, so much so that you couldn't even see what was underneath. Next, the menu describes the burrata as "creamy burrata with pea vines, roasted peas, pickled asparagus, and artichoke." When it arrived, we were truly wondering if we had ordered the right thing. Only until we moved the sea of greens did we see the burrata. Nowhere on the menu did it mention that we were actually ordering a salad with burrata underneath. Very unfortunate and misleading because my friend ordered the Caesar for dinner and didn't know she was actually getting a second salad. In addition, we ordered the baguette with butter/oil and what came to us for $11 or some rather non descript rolls. The octopus special was the star of the show. The colors, flavors, char on the octopus...everything except that it was surrounded by a fair amount of paprika oil, so much so that I had to work around it in order to not give my stomach a run for my money later in the evening. A dish I wanted to finish but just couldn't because of that issue. In addition to that, refills of water were non-existent and it took close to 50 minutes to get our dinner. Also, our waitperson was very pleasant but seemed rather overwhelmed. Even after waiting 15 minutes for the simple syrup, when she finally did bring it, she looked surprised that I no longer wanted it. Yes, she took it off the bill, but I would have much rather enjoyed one of the specialties of the house. So many mishaps that didn't need to occur. Truly disappointed that our evening went that way.

I guess for $3.99 what should you expect. The crab boil was ok. Some parts were still cold. We asked for headless shrimp so I assumed that the shrimp would be deveined too. The garlic butter sauce didn't taste buttery and I think the garlic is jarred garlic. Don't get me wrong. I've used jarred garlic but you shouldn't be able to tell by taste. The sauce seems to have been thrown in after the seafood was warmed/steamed. I felt like all the flavors wasn't infused in anything in the pot (corn, potato, shrimp, clam etc.) I feel bad becauseThe service was great. High expectations after watching a IG video from ErikaTaste. My favorite part was the bread. It's basically the Vietnamese roll, so soft crunchy and fresh. We were seated in the back corner with perfect views of the water and islands across. And were created by seals swimming around throughout the night. I started with the Mango Sticky Rice cocktail, which was delicious. For apps, we had the fried calamari (wish it was crispier), pho inspired pork ribs, and the salmon dip, both were big hits with our group. Most of us built our own sets. I got the miso glazed cod with the Hawaii set, and the cod was perfect: flaky, juicy and flavorful. Portions look light at first, but you'll leave full. It was embarrassing for me to bring my friend there. We have been going to Roy's restaurants in Hawaii since he opened his first restaurant, and Woven was greatly under our expectations for a fine dining experience -- especially based on our past experiences with Roy's which were mostly very positive. I wrote to the restaurant about our experience and never heard back. The service was pretty good but not really to the level it should have been for this kind of restaurant.
