Frustrating experience with incomplete repairs, poor communication, licensing issues, and…read moreundisclosed installation methods. I hired Performance Windows for a full window replacement at my home in Reno. They offered free labor because the home was supposed to be used as a display/advertising house. We financed the project through a third-party lender. From the beginning, there were problems: * The itemized invoice lacked a clear breakdown of materials versus labor. * When I requested the contractor's license, they gave me a Nevada license number belonging to a different company (Sky View Windows and Doors) that was suspended at the time for a DIR violation. They also provided an expired Utah license for the lead installer. After repeated requests and verification through the Nevada State Contractors Board, the Sky View license was eventually reinstated, but the lack of transparency was concerning. * Performance Windows operates mainly as a sales company and uses Sky View as the installation crew. This was not clearly explained upfront. * They did not disclose that they would overlay the new windows onto the old existing surrounding wood frames. When the old windows were removed, this loosened those wooden frames from the wall and created gaps. Those gaps later caused leaks. After installation, multiple repairs were needed: * A sliding door screen needed replacement (this was eventually completed). * A dining room window started leaking after heavy rain. The crew sealed the original wood panel that had been ripped out during the initial install. The sealant had to dry before testing, so I still don't know if the leak is truly fixed. * Bathroom and laundry room windows were supposed to get proper frame replacements. Instead, the installer only cut plastic pieces, which exposed holes. The smaller bathroom windows still do not open fully -- they claim this is "part of their design." * There was also a gap in the flooring caused by the smaller slider door installation. Beyond the repairs, the overall performance of the new windows has been disappointing: * Even though the windows may look better, our house is noticeably hotter than it was with the old windows. * We are now getting bugs coming into the house. Communication and scheduling were consistently poor: * Appointments were missed or delayed. * On one visit, the installer arrived late, a different crew showed up first with no knowledge of the other repairs, and the main installer forgot several items and had to leave mid-visit to buy supplies at Home Depot. * The crew often seemed rushed to finish and leave. While the sliding door screen was eventually replaced, the overall handling of the project has been disappointing. Multiple issues remain unresolved or only partially addressed. The combination of incomplete work, undisclosed installation methods, performance problems, and lack of professionalism made this a stressful experience. I would not recommend Performance Windows. If you're considering them, verify their contractor licensing status independently through the Nevada State Contractors Board, ask detailed questions about their installation method (especially whether they overlay onto existing frames), and get everything in writing before signing.

Despite a clearly marked and posted "No Soliciting" sign on the front door, Brandon from the…read moremarketing team knocked on my door to upgrade my windows. He proposed my "beautiful home" for their advertising campaign. I would be responsible for 50% of the cost, provided I agreed to post a sign in my yard for 6 months advertising their business, wrote up a positive review about their installation and the windows themselves, and agree to have my home photographed for up to a year for their advertising, no compensation to me. I listened to the whole speech without interrupting. He looked at a good time today (during the Holidays) to see when he could send someone over to go over options. I told him I wasn't interested to which he responded "You could have started with that". Read the sign buddy. You wasted your own time knocking on the door and jumping into your sales pitch. If I could throw another star their way, I would. But Yelp limits me to five. There's something magical about sitting by an open window, feeling the gentle breeze. I have not been able to experience that in the past few years, as the windows in my house have been broken and unable to open. So I finally bit the bullet and reached out to HomeStar Windows and Doors to get a bid to replace them. Dave came out to measure and gave me a bid promptly. He did not put on the pressure, but gave me options-"good, better, best" and thoroughly explained the difference. We decided to go through with the replacement and got on the schedule. We also decided to replace the blinds with shutters and asked to coordinate the installation to happen around the same time. Well, the windows were ready to be installed sooner than we anticipated, and Dave offered to cover the cost of having the old blinds taken down and reinstalled so we could go ahead with the window installation before the shutters. It also landed on a day that we would be out of town, so they offered to text me when they arrived and then again when they left for the day. It was nice to get those updates so I was aware of when people would be in my house. When we returned home, the new windows were in and all the old ones were taken away. It made my life easy! All I needed to do was put furniture back that I had moved for them. There were also some holes in walls that I'll need to patch that looked like had been made when the windows were removed. And now, I sit by an open window (that I was able to open with one finger rather than the gargantuan effort it used to take) and enjoy the nice breeze. I shouldn't have waited so long.

We chose Legacy because it is a local, independent business and he did a wonderful job on our first project, a storage shed for our backyard. The price he quoted was reasonable and fair. The final price was close to the original quote. However, the project took twice as long to complete. Nevertheless, as we saw the progress of the project and the high quality of work being done, we became less concerned about the timeline of completion. We are extremely pleased with the aesthetics of our new living space. More importantly, we watched the construction of Michael's work. He was cognitive of cost, yet he never compromised on the quality and workmanship. Shortly after the job was completed, we had our HVAC technician come in to clean our furnance. The firt thing he said was, "Wow, what a beautiful floor!" Everyone that walks into our basement mentions how beautiful everything turned out. The bathroom with a full size walk-in shower looks far more expensive than it actually cost. We are extremetly pleased with Legacy Doors and More and the subcontractors that Michael hired for the plumbing and electrical work.

Complaints against Legacy Windows Deceptive Sales Tactics…read more* Told that trim would be replaced by like trim in event it was broken--company only had MDF upon installation. * Not informed that the transition on the floor was not part of the install. * Told that sliding doors would have security lock on bottom and not just on the handle * Told sliding doors would be easy to open * Told we were a "promotional" house and would get a discount if we made a decision on the spot. No before-and-after pictures or reviews were ever procured from us as originally stated in the sales pitch. Substandard Work Quality * No post install inspection. This alone could account for a lot of the problems. There's not an eye for detail or quality. * Many sills and windows visibly bowed * Some windows have gaps at corners of screen due to bowing where bugs can get in * Clear caulk used shows gaps & bowing clearly * Caulk tracked on floor in home * Broken wood trim left and not replaced * Wood trim replaced with MDF * Where some wood trim was removed, installers used our own personal wood to replace without paying us for the wood * Some sills stick awkwardly far into the room or stick tackily past existing trim blocking furniture, blinds, etc. Installers just stuck in sills without any thought or asking about preferences. * Bulges of plastic and other imperfections left on windows along with globs of caulk on glass that needed to be cleaned. * Had to sand sills ourselves, otherwise the edges would be sharp and tacky. * Gaps in installed wood had to be filled in with wood paste, left to us to do that. * Difficult-to-remove non-warranty and non-informational stickers left on windows for us to figure out how to remove. Broken Windows * One sliding door is so sticky and hard to open that the wife needs both hands & full weight to open. In the event of an emergency children would not be able to open the sliding door to escape. * One window is crooked and gets stuck at the last inch when closing (which has pinched and injured fingers). This window cannot pull out for cleaning as advertised because it is too tight in the frame. Evasive Customer Service * Forced to pay day of installation and sign paper that said all windows in working order despite being told that we were not to open the windows for at least 24 hours * Installer repeatedly blamed our old house and detail-oriented nature for window problems instead of fixing them (note that half the windows replaced previously had retrofit windows, which did not have the bowing problems listed above) * Installer came out to install a missing screen. We had a number of things we wanted him to look at. Instead he bolted without talking to us (stating we might not have been home, but there was no attempt to talk to us). He should have been given a list of things we wanted looked at, so either there's bad communication or purposeful incompetence. * Repeated requests to talk to a manager/owner were ignored. It appears the warranty is worth nothing if Legacy Windows will not even come and replace broken windows upon installation. Update: After successfully holding back 25% of the payment through the credit card company nearly two months after installation, the company sent out another team to "fix" things. This team seemed more competent than the first and replaced some caulk, squirted the equivalent of WD-40 in the sliding door to make it slide a little easier, fixed the bowing of a couple of windows, and somewhat fixed the window that was getting stuck when closing. At this point there was not much that could be done for anything else and we didn't really want the windows ripped out again to put in flat sills, etc. We have no desire to ever deal with this company again and we are warning others of our horrible experience so you hopefully don't end up in the same situation.

DO NOT HIRE this business to do any work for you! Tim was hired on 2/5/26 to do a basement remodel…read morefor us in our home. He gave a timeline of 6 weeks to finish. He required 70% down towards the $33,500.00 bid before he would start work. Standard is 50%, and when we questioned that he had all the answers. Said he isn't a bank and doesn't have thousands of dollars in his account to cover costs of labor and materials due to being a new business. He sold himself on being licensed and insured, a great communicator, dependable, a member of the National guard, and that he hires the best subcontractors. He did have the best subcontractors, that was the only true part. Tim seemed great the first couple of weeks. He spent three days at our home doing demo and hauling out trash. The only other day he spent a significant amount of time at our home was to frame, that was the second week. After that we rarely saw him. The plumber did some work, the electric has been completed to allow for the drywall sub to come in and complete his work. We know the plumber has not been paid at all. The electrician is still owed $3800. Tim asked for a progress payment on 3/31/26 for the dry wall sub for $2150. When we asked where the $22,000 was spent he said the flooring was $5,000. He had to pay the electrician the $9,800 up front. He had to buy the doors, paint, and pay the plumber. He said he only paid the drywall sub half. Which we know was only $2,500. The drywall sub worked from 8:30 to 7:30 M-F for a month including one Saturday. Tim picked up a check on April 6th for the $2,150. He gave the drywall sub a check for $2,150 from his account post dated to April 7th and it was $700 less than what he was owed. That check did not clear. Tim gave the sub a bad check that still hasn't cleared as of 4/10/26. Our check did clear, but I had put a stop payment on it the morning of 4/7, the bank fraud department is investigating and will inevitably be returning the money from that check. The morning Tim picked up that check he said a worker would be here to finish priming, he would come hang doors on 4/8/26 and paint. The plumber would be there to finish too. Nobody showed up to prime that day and from then on calls and texts to Tim went unanswered. We heard back from him the morning of the 8th. He sent a text and an email explaining that he will not finish the job. He is closing his company and going bankrupt due to cash flow problems. We do know he was having issues with another job that went wrong. He also has spent money on wrapping a piece of shit work truck to advertise and wrapping his warehouse door. A company going bankrupt doesn't spend money of those things. After talking to his lawyer that took two days to return a phone call. His lawyer had not spoken to him at all that week and knew of no dispute. He had only helped Tim set up the business. We have talked to other clients that he is working for and they did not receive the same message about the closing of his business. He is still in contact with them and communicating as if he is going to finish. He also only took 50% down payment from them. Not 70%. These projects started before ours. He has threatened the drywall sub to stay away from jobs he hasn't started yet or he will turn him in for not being licensed and insured. Tim hired this person months ago knowing this and has had him complete other jobs. He is making threats because he hasn't paid him and he doesn't want him telling new prospective customers that he is a thief and a fraud. It is 4/11/26. Our basement is incomplete and Tim has been paid for more than 70% of the job. We do not have any paint or flooring in our possession. The doors did get delivered on 4/9. He has lied through the entire process. He is a snake in the grass and the worst contractor ever! Worst experience ever! DO NOT HIRE HIM!!! Any review you see that is positive would have been from his first customer because the rest of us are NOT happy with him or his work. Since writing this review, I have been contacted by other unhappy customers.
