Bought 20 1000W HID lamps for my intelligent lights. At least 3 out of 14 (in use) exploded before their half-life. 21% failure rate is not acceptable in my industry. Nothing good to say about these clowns, ordered some bulbs and what they sent wasn't what they advertised. When I requested they correct the issue they refused and I had to go through my credit card company to get a refund and the return shipping is on me because of their mistake. I understand everyone makes mistakes but it is what one does to correct their own mistakes that shows their true character and these guys are looking to make a fast buck with deceptive sales practices. After you start looking into them you will see they have multiple names, most reputable companies go by one name not a bunch to hide who they are. I paid more to purchase bulbs from this store because the bulbs pictured on their website were exactly what I needed. I needed a particular shape because they are for a restoration. Other sellers had similar bulbs for much cheaper, but the shape was wrong. Instead of sending the bulbs pictured, though, Interlight sent me the same bulbs sold for much cheaper elsewhere. When O reached out to them, they told me the difference in shape was irrelevant (it was completely relevant for my purpose) and that the bulbs they sent were fine... not exactly great customer service. read more

This problem wasn't caused by COVID-19 delays. I ordered a box of 12 PAR (built-in reflector) lamps. They arrived, but 2 of the 12 were defective. I blame it on poor packing. The manufacturer supplies them in a case of 12; Interlight shipped it in that same case with no additional material to absorb shocks during shipping. I reported this to Interlight, and was challenged. I should send photos, Joey said. Photos of what, I asked. They're light bulbs! The glass is intact, but the filaments are broken. Joey asked for a close-up shot of the filaments. That's not possible since the lens is not clear, I explained. Again Joey challenged me. How do I know the filaments are broken? I explained how I tested with an ohmmeter and it read infinity rather than 7 or 8 ohms. Did I try plugging them in, Joey asked. Sure, but they don't work. After five email cycles, Joey still refused to believe me, and told me to return them. I complained that I don't like being called a liar. That's when Levi stepped in. No, he wasn't calling me a liar, Levi said. It's company policy that defective products be returned. But the cost of returning them is almost the cost of the broken bulbs, I countered. Don't worry, Levi said, if they were indeed defective, I would be reimbursed the cost of returning them, and they would send replacements. I very much resented that Interlight did not believe me, but if they were willing to pay for my sending them back, OK. So I sent them back. To their credit, they did ship me two replacement bulbs, but what about the reimbursement for my shipping the broken bulbs back? And so we started a new argument. No, we never reimburse shipping, Amber says. I quoted the exact sentence where Levi promised to reimburse my shipping, "If once you send the bulbs back and we determine they were defective you will be reimbursed for your shipping to us and a replacement will be issued for your bulbs." Oh, no, Amber insists, "there is a huge miscommunication. We do not ever reimburse for shipping costs". And so there we are. Are they cheats? Are they liars? Are they just incompetent? You decide for yourself. I claim they are all three. Note that I am not angry that 2 bulbs were bad. Mistakes happen, especially when stuff is shipped across oceans from China. Light bulbs are fragile, but Interlight's business is light bulbs! They know they are fragile. They know how to check them, how to handle them, and how to pack them. And they know how to stand behind their product. But they don't. Instead they challenge my statements. What I'm angry about is their treating me as, at best, a fool, and at worst, a cheat. Take your business elsewhere. There are lots of NOS (new old stock) PAR bulbs on eBay, made in the USA in the 1990s by GE and Sylvania, and the sellers back them up. This is a very dishonest company. I ordered a 400 watt horticultural bulb and was sent a street light bulb that was 310 watts and used a completely different ballast. I notified them the day I received the bulb to tell them of the problem. They tried to tell me it was a direct replacement for the bulb I ordered! An honest company would have told me the bulb I ordered was no longer available and would immediately refund my payment. Well, they told me to take pictures of the bulb and to return it (at my expense). I waited a few days and called them to see what was happening. They informed me that their "technicians" inspected this brand new bulb and deemed it was "burned out" so they could not refund my money. 1000 Bulbs or Grow Ace are much better companies for lighting stuff. If I had read the number of dissatisfied customer reviews I would have never ordered anything from these crooks. Light bulb plus shipping $50. Shipping it back $14. Zero stars would be a much more appropriate rating. They will probably resell this bulb but I have a much better idea of what they can do with it. read more

We ordered a very large order of light bulbs, but when they are arrived, they were not the same bulbs that were advertised on the website, but instead a cheap imitation from China. The lumens and degree were completely different on the box then what was advertised in the listing. The light bulb was supposed to be white, but instead was yellow. I had to pay $31 to ship them back because even though it was the mistake of Interlight with false advertising, they refused to provide a pre-paid shipping label. This is terrible customer service, and shady business sense to advertise falsely, and then not correct your mistake. As soon as I hung up the phone with them they went out and corrected the listing on their website. We purchase huge amounts of bulbs for both business and residential usage. You would never expect as a customer to be laughed at and told by the employees that you simply aren't spending enough money for them to care about you and take care of you. Wish I would have checked these reviews before ordering. They charge triple the price for bulbs that they claim fit the Dynatrap - and because Dinatrap is out right now, I ordered. The bulbs appear to be the same but they do not fit and now not only did I pay $60 but I have to return them at my own expense. When I contacted the company they asked me to take photos and I said why? You don't know the product that you sold me? In my opinion they should have been apologetic and offered to send another set out right away for me to try but clearly they know that none of them work. Instead they told me the only thing they could do is have me return them at my own expense and they will only refund me if it's within 30 days - which it is since I received just last week! Why one star? Because there isn't a no star option. I ordered in March, items were not indicated as back-ordered. The items arrived in June (3 months later). The two items I ordered were offered together as being compatible; one being a T3 light the other being a quartz sleeve for the light. The quartz sleeve doesn't fit the bulb (both are the same diameter) and the T3 bulb didn't work. Upon inspection the bulb looks like a very cheap knock off of the existing old bulb. I contacted the company about the sleeve and Amber shut me down as to a return (past 30 days) or even an explanation of why that sleeve is proposed for that bulb. After installing the T3 clone bulb I called back and was pleased to talked to Joe, a nice guy who wanted to see pictures of the bulbs and sleeve, I sent the photo via email but Amber intercepted the email and shut me down and didn't forward it to Joe. I responded to her email and explained that Joe asked me to send the picture of the items and for a 3rd time she shut me down. Poor Joe doesn't know what happened. So he is now "flying blind" because of Amber. P.S. I was alway polite, I guess Amber was "just following orders". If you choose to buy from this company realize you cannot return bulbs, even if they don't work and all other items must be returned within 30 days. read more

When we did construction on our house, we purchased several new light fixtures, most of which required unique bulbs that were hard to find. I called Interlight and they were very patient with my lack of knowledge on light bulbs. After describing the variety of different bulbs I needed and even sending some pictures to ensure they knew exactly what I needed, they sent them to me the next day! There is a reason their prices are so cheap, at least for my projector, they are selling NON-OEM Generic bulbs. I thought I was going to get a great deal from this company when I ordered a replacement bulb for my Mitsubishi HC5500. I ordered the bare bulb because the housing from my previous bulb was in good condition. When the bulb showed up it had no markings on it indicating the model/type or the maker. It appeared to be the same size as my old one but there was no whip attached to it to plug it into my projector. I would either have to modify the bulb to add one, thus voiding the warranty, or modify my projector to make it work with the bulb. It was not a replacement bulb for my projector, it was generic one that maybe would have worked but at my own risk. When I contacted the company to ask them about it, they told be that there are no longer any OEM bulbs available for my projector and they sent me a generic one that is just as good, yet it wasn't even branded. All over their website they state they sell Ushio bulbs, the original maker of the bulbs for my projector. How come they didn't at least send me a genuine Ushio bulb even it it wasn't the 'OEM' branded bulb. Anyway, I know there is a market out there for selling generic projector bulbs, it's a gamble if they ever work right. When I requested to send the bulb back for a refund they told me I could but I'd have to pay for shipping to send it back, and they'd deduct shipping for sending it to me in the first place. There was no way I was going to pay $30 to have the wrong product shipped to me and then to ship it back. I told them I'd pay to ship it back but I wanted a full refund of what I originally paid, the guy wouldn't budge an inch, absolutely unwilling to work with me insisting they sent me a bulb that was as described. Last time I checked a replacement shouldn't need modification to make it work, and if they claim to sell Ushio bulbs I want a Ushio branded bulb. I sent it to my credit card company to dispute the charge, I wasn't going to mess around with a company that had no desire to provide customer service. This company is deceiving in their marketing, and unwilling to budge if there is any kind of issue. I wouldn't ever try to purchase another bulb from them and would recommend you don't either, no matter how good the price looks, you'll likely end up frustrated and end up paying more because of it. read more

Ordered OEM stock item according to their website. Received cheap Chinese replacements with completely different part numbers and MFG which was not on their website upon purchase. Called customer service was notified that this item was special order (even though they shipped next day without any notice that this was a special order) and was not able to return. Was told that they put replacement multiple times on the purchase site (in the smallest possible font in faded grey with legal terms where nobody reads) whereas the OEM Manufacturer name and PN are in huge bold lettering. Replacement MFG never mentioned. Never mentions an alternate, aftermarket, not oem, anything to hint at the fact that we would not receive the original item. Seems like this is how this place runs its business and they are targeting customers with the intent oem products at a lower price point. How hard is it to put (NOT OEM) on your item. (probably a lot easier than trying to hide it) Trying to take advantage of all customers while playing footsie with the legal line and treating customers like people they just robbed. read more

Bought a marine light for our boat that was a rare 220v European bulb Interlight had it and It came in 2 days

Ordered 10 bulbs for Mitutoyo comparator. Ordered the more expensive bulbs, so as not to get the cheap low quality ones. I was sent the low quality ones anyway with Interlight saying they were the correct bulbs for the unit. We tried 5 and 5 failed, all in less than an hour. 4 acted as if they had no vacuum in the bulbs, the last fused the wire going to the solder button on the bottom, not the filament. I sent the un-used bulbs plus one of the failed ones as an example. Interlight is still trying to charge me for 4 defective bulbs. read more

After searching online for several days for a new bulb for my aging but still very good projector, I was no closer to an answer of whether to buy OEM or generic. My last bulb which was supposedly high end generic, only lasted 800 hours despite a 2000+ hour rating. I have just read all of the horror stories people have to share about cheap bulbs, and i knew some of them were decent, but how to tell which is which? I called interlight and began to ask challenging questions, in a kind way, but trying to pinpoint exactly what it was i was buying. The very helpful young lady transferred me to a longtime employee. He knew it all. He gave me a quote on the OEM bulb, and the generic as well. I asked him why the generic might be a valid choice for me. What he said next was exactly what i needed to hear : "over the years, we have had to eliminate many (perhaps dozens) of manufacturers, due to quality issues. The bulb we sell now has a return/defect rate of (x amount of %) and this is slightly higher than the OEM, but it is our best choice as a generic bulb. We do not like to sell items with a high failure rate, and do everything in our power to avoid them." I found a bulb on A-------.ca for $26 Canadian, but I chose instead to buy a bulb from this man for $79 USD because I knew I could count on his word and his experience. Interlight has been around since the mid '80's and depends on their good reputation.That is what I am banking on. I am awaiting my bulb with great anticipation. We usually have dinner in the media room, and it really sucked when we sat down the other night and I could not boot up the projector due to a prematurely dead bulb. Oh, and to top it all off, this gentleman truthfully told me that he expected his generic bulb to last 1500 hours, instead of giving me an inflated figure like 2000-3000 like all the others do. One more thing, the bulb that just failed me was represented as a genuine bulb mounted after market by the firm i purchased from. Can you imagine how badly i would like to to call them out and give you their name right now? Yes you can pay less, and even a lot more, but in my opinion, Interlight is doing A+ service and will honestly sell you the real deal, or a very good generic item and then stand behind it. Here is the letter I sent after receiving excellent service: Hi ------, your help was invaluable today. I decided on the generic bulb you suggested. Due to the double cost of the original OEM part, and the speed factor for the shipping it practically made the decision for me. Wish I would have read some of these reviews before placing an order with them. Ordered bulbs from them on a Friday and was told they would arrive Monday or Tuesday as we are within 50 miles of their location. Tuesday I called them to see if I could trace the shipment as the bulbs that were ordered was for a piece of production equipment and it was down without it. My inquiry found that they didn't stock the items ordered and it would now be 7-10 business days and had not yet shipped at all. The original person who took the call turned it over to her supervisor who asked what she could do to make it right but then offered nothing but rude and sarcastic comments. I left the conversation with some choice words and hung up after my blood pressure got the best of me. The reality is I could have ordered the bulbs from several other suppliers and gotten them the next day, in the end I cancelled the order and placed with another day, Lost (3) production days. read more
