The hotel was booked as part of a pre-cruise package and didn't disappoint. Our queen room had enough space and a Nespresso machine for the hubby. The room was clean, bed and sofa comfortable, AND it included a lovely buffet breakfast every morning! The location is quite central to shopping and restaurants as well as a lovely park across the street. We walked into the park with a friend who took us to the casual dining spot for an evening beverage. Not far away is a great shopping building with a market downstairs and department store in the main level. Service is excellent here! read more

This is a nice but very American hotel in Lisbon. We got a premium room and it was mostly pretty nice all around. Generally the staff is great and classy. The restaurant was a good choice but the bar was a hit and miss. Either dead and boring or taken over by Karaoke or a huge loud tour group. The big problem we had was the bathtub and housekeeping. There was a big learning curve on using the the shower and spout hardware which was funny at first but became a hassle. But I almost killed myself on our last morning in the shower before going to the bus to Porto! The maid kept moving my shave case all the way to the other side of the gd vanity away from the shower!! So that morning I forgot my shaver and had to get out wet to go retrieve it. The non slip mat in the shower slipped and I fell catching my leg over the tub, hitting my head on the tub while falling on my back and twisting my neck. I ended up with a bruised inner leg that is not healing and lucky to not have had a head injury. Mgmt felt bad when I told them about it and to have housekeeping quit moving people's stuff around but essentially nothing came of my complaint! Nothing. I think the mgr was just glad I didn't sue them. I've been in pain since so I should! Also on Monday morning a huge conference and one small one literally took over the hotel from Sunday night through the week! Couldn't enjoy the bar or breakfast buffet at all. Hectic and LOUD! Dont stay here if you are there during the week and don't trust their Tub mats!! Restaurant was nice though and great Mgr that I got to know a bit. But we won't be staying there again for sure! read more

We loved our stay at the Intercontinental! While it is a bit of a walk from the touristy area, it was along Avenue Liberdade so it made for a pretty and scenic route. The room was spacious, clean, and always cleaned, and had an amazing view. While I usually opt out of a continental breakfast on vacation, the one at the Intercontinental was good, the selection so big, and the staff so accommodating, that we ended up going every morning. The hotel bar is also a great spot for a nightcap or pre-brunch drink. Overall, a very relaxing stay and I would definitely stay again! read more

Our last night in Lisbon and we had to have. Beautiful hotel to rest and relax before our long flight home. Unfortunately we only stayed one night but got an amazing queen corner room with a beautiful view, especially in the morning. Super courtesy staff from the front desk to the doormen. Immaculate and the whole hotel smells so nice and warm and inviting. We did not enjoy the bar but did walk in to see it. Beautiful decor. Actually, the whole hotel is beautifully decorated. Attention to detail is on point. The room was big and comfortable. Bed was big and functional furniture everywhere. Not close to anything but nothing a taxi or uber cannot get you to. Area is very quiet so you do get a good night sleep. We have to come back and stay more nights read more

Room was functional with two twin beds, a desk, and a small couch; they replaced the couch with a rollaway bed for my two daughters. Housekeeping was excellent daily. My daughters used the fitness area each day and said it smelled like fish, but the equipment was satisfactory. The hotel is in the business district, it was an easy Uber or Bolt ride to other main areas, or a 20-30 minute walk depending on destination. We walked in the mornings and used rideshares at night and for longer trips like Sintra and Cascais. With so many nearby dining options, we didn't eat at the hotel. read more

I only have praise for The Intercontinental in Lisbon. Everything was really great, we enjoyed our stay of 5 nights. Nice greetings at check-in made a good start to our journey. Lobby was typical 5 star, it was beautiful although not as grand as other hotels I've seen. Room was very functional. Liked the central tech controls and room automation . Tv with lot of US premium channels. Well lighted , and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was spacious. Wireless internet was free and fast. Main drawback of the hotel was the location. Placed on a residential part , it was an estimated 15-20 minute walk or 5-7 min uber to Liberty Avenue. Away from convenience stores, coffee shops, restaurants and shopping streets. That can be uncomfortable particularly if you want a staycation type of experience. Spending 5 euros on taxi/uber one way doesn't help . The club lounge was really amazing with the attentive service and delicious food. We were eagerly waiting 5 o'clock to be there for small tapas and drinks. I would say one of the best lounges I've ever encountered. We didn't use much of the hotel facilities as we were out and about, if you are looking for a standard 5 Star hotel with no frills and the copy & paste standards then the Intercontinental is good. It's a great hotel. But here are my issues. Housekeeping - they do not knock before attempting entry. Thank God I had latched the door. The shower head is missing a screw so it kept "falling". The bedside lamp and the floor lamp don't work. I had to keep my curtains closed since my window opened to the back facing some kind of outdoor space which looked like it was being worked on, with paint buckets, cables, "elevators". I think I got the swordtail room in the entire hotel. Elevator. There are 3 elevators serving all the floors and they run REALLY slow. Else I had no issue. I was here for a conference. We had the pleasure of spending our Christmas week and my birthday at this lovely hotel. Location was away from the hustle and bustle of the crowded area. It is right across the street from The Ritz, and the park. We did not have a rental car, but we were able to walk everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE! Museums, Rossio Plaza, Castle Sao George, The Elevator, theater district, and the large plaza by the water. The king bedroom we were in was very spacious. There was a comfy bed and you get a pillow menu also. Nice couch with an ottoman, a desk by the window (which open) that became my makeup vanity. A mini fridge with pricey goodies, comfy robes and slippers. Oh, and black out curtains! Which helped bx we didnt adjust to the time difference. The lobby was beautifully decorated in holiday theme, a pianist played the grand piano in the afternoon, always friendly staff that greeted you. There is a fancy restaurant there that was hosting holiday dinners for those that had reservations, otherwise there's a nice bar lounge that you can order food and drinks....also you can order in the lobby as well. Had a wonderful time, very safe. Short ride to the airport. read more

Seamless check in at 23:00. Concierge was even available at that late hour to answer questions for us. We were greeted with sweets and champagne in our room upon checking in, nice tough to help us celebrate our wedding anniversary. A Padaria Portuguesa is around the corner from the hotel, great for a quick casual breakfast and coffee. Amanhecer grocery store was two blocks away if you need to purchase small food items or bottled water for the day. Lisbon is gorgeous. Despite being older than London or Paris, this city emanates a quiet but radiant charm. The same can be said of this Intercontinental. I'm not sure what's considered the "heart" of Lisbon, but I'd say this location is a great home base from which to explore the city. It's situated about a mile away from the water and is also easily accessible by public transportation (though we opted for ubers throughout the whole trip given how cheap they were). The staff were absolutely lovely. As others have noted, this hotel is certainly very service-oriented and I was very impressed by the warmth and charisma we were greeted with, from the front desk, to the concierge, to even the fitness center staff. I started my stay in the Four Seasons but can confidently say that the Intercontinental is a strong peer and I'd highly recommend it. read more

The staff were polite, helpful and very friendly. This was the warmest reception yet from any hotel staff we've ever received to date. The handing out of fresh strawberries and free drinks at the lobby was a good touch. The doorman was super helpful and warm. The hotel restaurant L'Appart had great food. The check-in process needs improvement, but we likely checked in at a bad peek time when a conference was about to start. No club lounge unlike in other locations.This was once a different hotel and we checked in at a time when things were just changing hands. read more

Gorgeous hotel, lovely decor, comfy beds and wonderful service. We stayed on 12th floor with amazing views of Marques de Pombal square and the park where the Lisboa wonderland was going on. We didn't eat at the hotel so any comment on food it they do have a gorgeous looking restaurant and bar and the room service menu appeared quite extensive. The hotel is in a great location just off Avenida and the Marques de Pombal. Great transport links and easy to walk to Rossio and other attractions. Would definitely stay here again. read more

My wife watch the cleaning lady whipping the floor in the bathroom then putting a rag in the same bucket and cleaning the furniture!! . Then ridiculous check out procedure. I waited for a line of 6 people ahead of me to check out at 7am. Only one person in the desk and he was mega, super slow. I had to do this as " we no longer put the bill under the door to save paper". This is crazy, I asked him; so you make people line up here and wait to get their paperwork? "Sorry Sir". After this intolerably long wait and I finally get to the desk, a second person shows up to also work the front desk. I was the last person in the line at this point. Completely non-customer focused. Next time, I'll stay at The Four Seasons (Ritz) next door and be treated like a customer should be, and have a clean room. read more

They made excellent restaurant recommendations outside the hotel as well. The gym has ample room and a good assortment of equipment. The food was delicious and lots of options. Stayed here for a few days end of last year. In line with expectations for an Intercontinental. Hotel had a clean, modernish feel. Staff was a bit stiff but helpful and polite. Rooms were clean and comfortable. The location is not bad (right across the street from a big park) and near other major hotel chains (the Ritz is right up the street), but I would not necessarily pick this place if you are looking to see the high points of the city. (I wasn't in town for business but given the proximity of all the other hotels, I suspect this location appeals more to a business crowd.) Overall, it gets the job done. read more

Nothing to look at from the outside but then again neither is the Ritz right next door. We had a warm greeting when disembarking from our taxi. Note that our taxi fare was around 11Euros, which is quite reasonable. Waited a bit at reception to check in and the concierge brought out bottles of water for us. After a little bit of miscommunications, we were able to get entry into our room slightly early. My husband is Spire Elite and I am Platinum but that only got us an upgrade to a Club Room with no Club Lounge access and nothing else, not even the normal complimentary drinks we've received at other IHG properties. Staff is definitely very friendly although English is slightly lacking. Prior to coming here I had asked for a separate bed for our 4.5 year old son, which I was promised at no charge. The girl at reception acknowledged this after I showed her my email and a bed was brought into our room about an hour after we settled in. We also received a large bottle of water and a fruit plate. We are on the 17th floor; there are 3 elevators and one is being refurbished which means only 1 usable elevator for the upper floors (10-18). This results in a long wait at times so factor that in if you need to be somewhere at a specific time. We ended up missing our Rossio train to Sintra by a few minutes because we had to wait for the elevator! Upon our first venture out, this seems to be an extremely quiet neighborhood. The mall is about an 8-10 minute walk with a food court and plenty of American familiar brands. There is also a large supermarket there for some necessities. The closest metro station is Marques de Pombal on the Blue line. It is approximately 6-7 minutes to walk there but NOTE - walking there is downhill, which is great and easy. Walking back to the hotel from there is mainly uphill and very taxing! I am 31 weeks pregnant so this was one heck of a walk for me on a daily basis! This is the first time we've ever stayed at an InterContinental and our first impressions are a 6.5/10, especially as the highest tier member of their rewards program. read more

Worst experience ever at the Intercontinental Hotel in Lisbon. Five clothing items were stolen out of the hotel closet on the day I checked out. The Royal Ambassador concierge confirmed after many checks that the clothing had not been misplaced with housekeeping or the dry cleaner, but had in fact "disappeared". He told me to purchase new clothing items and I would be reimbursed. When I returned and submitted receipts, the hotel manager, Artur Fernandes was incredibly offensive and rude, insinuating that he did not believe us. I went back and forth with the hotel for 4 months. I was told to provide my checking account and routing number via email in order to be reimbursed, which I let them know I was not comfortable with. After doing so I rerceived a late email reply saying I would NOT be compensated after providing all of the receipts and sensitive banking information. It has been the most violating experience with customer service I have been through and I would advise you do not stay at this establishment. To have a staff member steal from my room, be accused of lying, and then told I had to provide my personal financial account information only to not receive reimbursement is totally unacceptable. We are ROYAL AMBASSADOR guests and that customer service department would not even help beyond providing an email. DO NOT stay at this unprofessional hotel. read more
