We heard about Builder's Surplus from the Nextdoor App. We are in the process of redoing our floors…read moreand wanted to compare flooring prices. They have a variety of household design supplies. We recently bought door knobs from Home Depot and saw the same brand here for half the price that we paid. The flooring section wasn't as extensive as we envisioned however, the prices were reasonable. We will definitely keep this business on the top of our list when we are considering home renovation options in the future.

Anytime I would pause at a door and examine it for more than a few seconds I would hear "Hello Ma'am! Anything I can help with?" With a genuine tone of wanting to help. Everyone is so friendly and eager to answer questions, help you find what you're looking for, give ideas, etc. what I liked the most is the zero pressure or sales vibe which helped me relax and make my decision. I bought all new pre hung doors for the house and was prepared to spend a few thousand but I saved so much compared to a Home Depot/Lowes buying here and the customer service here is top tier. They were out of a few doors that I needed but they assemble them there! So later this week I'll be back to pick them up all up at once. They don't deliver - so be sure you come with your trailer or they will recommend you someone that can help. Happy shopping!

Beware of this supplier. We purchased 3 white quartz slabs (~$3200) from Hilltop Granite for a…read morekitchen and bathroom remodeling project. The slabs began to discolor drastically after 2-4 weeks of use. This is due to a manufacturing defect where 'micropits' exist in the slabs due to resin not being fully impregnated in the slab, allowing bacteria to grow and debris to accumulate. It look months of repeatedly contacting Hilltop to get them to come view the issue. Once there, the Hilltop manager in Houston acknowledged the defect (because this slab was made on their "cheap Chinese machine"-- his exact quote), but stated 'they offer no warranties or guarantees' for their products and attempted to shift responsibility to the fabricator who installed the slabs. Repair is not possible and both the slabs and attached tile backsplashes need to be removed and replaced. Hilltop's solution was to offer a free slab and leave us with the cost of removing and replacing everything else. Eg: leave us paying 70% of the cost to solve the problem caused by their defective material. We tried to go through Better Business Bureau to resolve the issue, they refused to resolve. We have now had your file a legal case against them to try to get a fair resolution.

If your pool builder uses Keystone tile out of Houston for their travertine beware. We have been…read moredealing with Keystone travertine issues for 10 weeks and still have pool coping with chips, rough edges on the polished edge facing the interior of the pool, different tile thickness and different cut bullnose edges. The original load came with 8 broken tile. Unfortunately there were more with cracks that were installed. Each time they would send the exact number of replacement tile to only find some were chipped or edges rough. Wait again for next shipment. One set came in 1/4 inch narrower than the original, the next set arrived with a different thickness and a different cut bullnose edge. Finally a Keystone rep came to see the now, Frankenstein collection of coping on the pool. Kahil stood from afar a declared that this was stone and the rough polish edges and chip throughout, differing thickness and bullnose looked acceptable to Keystone. WHAT? Keystone and Kahil certainly have a low bar of acceptable quality. He also indicated if they sent more it most likely won't be much better. Really!!! They don't have any confidence they can mill, polish and deliver a travertine that is not all chipped up. Why spend top dollar to add an accent border to simply attract attention to chips, rough edges, different bullnose and thicknesses. If I only knew I would have not invested in travertine to go through all this and still have sorry stone around my pool. That said making sure any future pool consumer question who they get travertine from. My pool company is working trying to come up with an acceptable solution but this far seem Keystone is not
