Strongly discourage doing business with Bishop Movers. I had had extensive conversations over email…read moreand phone with the company and we outlined a full plan for our moving day. We discussed multiple options for either doing a one day move or a two day move, and how those would look and costs. We discussed how many movers we would need. I confirmed with them that I was good to go with a plan with the date we had discussed and the number of movers we discussed. After confirming, Bishop movers sent a follow up email asking a few minor questions about how many floors the building has and noting what time exactly they could arrive in the morning. We had already come to an agreement where I had clearly stated that we would like to move forward with the agreement. Not knowing that this would be a incredibly costly error, I neglected to let them know the number of floors our building has for a week. We are still more than a week away from our scheduled move but I got back to them today and told them the set up. Immediately I got a response saying that because I hadn't replied sooner to provide this information they had already moved on and cancelled our move. Despite us having said, in writing over email, that we would like to book this. We received no follow up email during that time period asking us to provide that information or warning us that if they didn't get the answer on how many floors the building has they would be canceling. Now we are just shy of a week out of our move and without a moving company because of the poor communication and lack of professionalism of Bishop Movers. Again, apparently a detailed outline of a plan over email with confirmation that we were booking this isn't something that you can trust their word on.

The three movers were kind and polite, and this review is not meant as a criticism of them personally. However, they were clearly unprepared for the job. No measurements were taken, no equipment was used, and they appeared unfamiliar with basic techniques like angling furniture through doorways. This was frustrating, especially since the couch had previously been delivered through the same doors without issue. When the crew struggled and stopped, they called their manager, Brandon. Based on what we were seeing, my husband honestly said it wasn't going to work with this crew. Despite the fact that nothing was moved, we were charged $190. After the movers left, my husband contacted Brandon to discuss the situation. Brandon was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to take responsibility. When my husband pointed out that no measurements had been taken, Brandon responded, "Well how are they going to know if it will fit until they try?" despite the fact that using a tape measure is a basic, professional step that was never attempted. Brandon refused any refund or partial credit. We are out nearly $200 because Two Men and a Truck sent an unprepared crew and then backed that up with poor customer service. If you are moving anything more complicated than boxes, think carefully before hiring this company. We strongly encourage the owners to consider additional customer service training for Brandon. Being elderly With several ongoing health conditions, this move was already causing me a great deal of stress. A rep from the company came and evaluated the scope of the job I was asking. He brought me out some flat screen protective boxes for my TV's. i had explained that I needed them to take a portion of things from the basement to a local storage unit. Another section of the basement was to be left alone as it was being given for donation . My garage was quiet full and then I had the inside off the housel. This gentlemen told me he was going to have to readjust my quote down because it was not as bad as he had expected. After 6 men and two moving trucks came on moving day and I tried to give them some direction, I was met with resistance and was told they would not take items to two locations. I had t`o` choose where to go. (I was never told this at any time in evaluating this co for the job). So I said okay9 I would work on getting storage items moved another day and they could just start loading up the garage A am a serious crafter and have a lot o money invested in craft supplies. I wanted this part of the garage packed together to go into a second bedroom for a craft room. The rest would go to the apartment First I was told I would have to leave my mounted TV because they were not allowed to remove this. (then why did the man who came to my home bring me two protected boxes that I was charged for). So while they started on the craft section of the garage (which I had asked them to keep this section divided as much as possible. While they started I went to the back bedroom and f was trying to finish up my master bedroom. After a period of time two of these men came to me and said they could not put another thing on the "truck" as it was full. my garage was still 2/3bfull and the inside of the house Had not been done. The second truck lay emoth. They told me that my apartment would not hold another item. That's when I discovered that while I was out back they took it amongst themselves to load both sides of the basement (the section that was going to storage and the good sized area that was being donated) on the truck at the same time as they had loaded the craft items in the garage. They refused to load anything further into the second truck. But I was going at the end of this day to live in my new apartment. So with much resistance and telling them that they would load my bed or someone was going to be "hurt" an dirt wasn't going to be me, they did load my bed, after they carelessly discarded items in my bedroom.. I was lived and asked why they had loaded the items from the basement when they had told me no. One guy said that they were trying to help me out. He had not helped me he had just created a hell of a mess for me. And one guy said "you can't expect us to go through all that stuff and separate it out". By the time I got to my apartment, I was a total wreck. I had to call on two neighbor friends to help me get items to live on, few changes of clothing, few dishes, bathroom items, which were mostly packed up. But they could not load any more on the trucks as they had decided what would fit into my apartment amidst themselves. I did write them a check for the amt they were requesting because I had 6 guys breathing down my neck and I was feeling intimidated But I was quiet upset with the entire experience. This was the move from hell. I have stopped payment on the check after stewing all weekend over the events of my move. I did call first thing Monday to file a formal complaint. I was told by their rep that he would speak to the crew and get back to me. It has been close to four weeks and I have heard nothing from them. Meanwhile I had to hire another crew to help me get out of the house urgently now, costing almost as much as what two men and a truck had charged me for the mess they had left me in. So now I have a lot of storage items And donation items in my apartment which I now have to get out to storage and go over to not the one, but two storage units Then there are a lot of things I needed for my apartment that now I have to get from storage to my apartment. I believe they charge you from the time they leave their facility until the time they return, so keep that in mind when estimating your own cost and keep careful track of when they come and go so that you don't get charged more as that almost happened to us. Their employees were friendly and polite and arrived within the timeframe they had promised. We had three guys show (instead of the two that were expected). They moved the furniture fairly quickly as we had a tight window to complete the move on both ends. Unfortunately, there were a couple of items (an electric fireplace and a shelf that we are aware of thus far) that we discovered had minor damage, so be sure to wrap everything carefully that you really care about. They also forgot to bring some of the bolts for the bed frame (which we discovered later) and their drill from the first location, so my husband had to drive back to original house to let them in. we hired Garys movers to move us from Alfred to Biddeford. I found them very expensive and cost…read moreminded for the customer. they came from saco to alfred ( a 25 minute drive for me) but they did not arrive at our home until 9:45, leaving saco at 9AM. It took them over 7 hours to load up the truck, (we ahd but most of the boxes into the garage for easy loading) included in that time was them having to go back to the office to get another truck as they said we had more furnture then could be put in one truck. I also had to tell one of the gentlemen to use the kitchen exit to get to the porch as he was taking the boxes from the kitchen and walking thru the living room and out the front door to get to the same porch. very frustrating for us to see the time it was taking to load up the truck. The plan was to have them hold the furniture for 4 days until we were ready to move into the new home. the cost including holding for 3 days at $50 per day, was $750 with the plan to charge us additional hours on the move in. Buying a home has surprises and ours was the seller was not able to make the deadline for the closing. This meant a weeks delay in moving in. Understandably, Garys could not hold our furniture for that amount of time so we had them move the furniture into a 2 car garage. Heres where it gets really good, as I stated before, they needed 2 trucks because we had SO MUCH stuff to move. well they sent 2 men to the garage with one of the trucks, My thought would be, you have 2 drivers, 2 trucks, so each drive one to the location, saving the customer an hours travel to go back and get the second truck but that is not Garys policy i guess. lets just tack on an additional hour to pick up the second truck. All of our Stuff fit into this 2 car garage including a riding lawn mower so it really was an average household of belongings for 2 people. Are you ready to hear the price to drop off the furnishing into the garage..... $450. it would of been $425 but we got a call after they were back at the office to let us know there was a math mistake and we owed another $26, so now we are at over $1200. and the furniture is not in my new home yet. All i can say is I will not be calling Garys to move me to my new home from the garage.
