Two Men and a Truck Portland

We hired Two Men and a Truck to move a very heavy sleeper sofa from our first-floor apartment to…read moreour third floor. We assumed a professional moving company would arrive with basic equipment (straps, harnesses, or moving aids) and the know-how to move large furniture. They did not. The three movers were kind and polite, and this review is not meant as a criticism of them personally. However, they were clearly unprepared for the job. No measurements were taken, no equipment was used, and they appeared unfamiliar with basic techniques like angling furniture through doorways. This was frustrating, especially since the couch had previously been delivered through the same doors without issue. When the crew struggled and stopped, they called their manager, Brandon. Based on what we were seeing, my husband honestly said it wasn't going to work with this crew. Despite the fact that nothing was moved, we were charged $190. After the movers left, my husband contacted Brandon to discuss the situation. Brandon was rude, dismissive, and unwilling to take responsibility. When my husband pointed out that no measurements had been taken, Brandon responded, "Well how are they going to know if it will fit until they try?" despite the fact that using a tape measure is a basic, professional step that was never attempted. Brandon refused any refund or partial credit. We are out nearly $200 because Two Men and a Truck sent an unprepared crew and then backed that up with poor customer service. If you are moving anything more complicated than boxes, think carefully before hiring this company. We strongly encourage the owners to consider additional customer service training for Brandon. His behavior showed no professionalism, accountability, or interest in finding a fair solution. If he is an owner, that is even more concerning.

Being elderly With several ongoing health conditions, this move was already causing me a great deal of stress. A rep from the company came and evaluated the scope of the job I was asking. He brought me out some flat screen protective boxes for my TV's. i had explained that I needed them to take a portion of things from the basement to a local storage unit. Another section of the basement was to be left alone as it was being given for donation . My garage was quiet full and then I had the inside off the housel. This gentlemen told me he was going to have to readjust my quote down because it was not as bad as he had expected. After 6 men and two moving trucks came on moving day and I tried to give them some direction, I was met with resistance and was told they would not take items to two locations. I had t`o` choose where to go. (I was never told this at any time in evaluating this co for the job). So I said okay9 I would work on getting storage items moved another day and they could just start loading up the garage A am a serious crafter and have a lot o money invested in craft supplies. I wanted this part of the garage packed together to go into a second bedroom for a craft room. The rest would go to the apartment First I was told I would have to leave my mounted TV because they were not allowed to remove this. (then why did the man who came to my home bring me two protected boxes that I was charged for). So while they started on the craft section of the garage (which I had asked them to keep this section divided as much as possible. While they started I went to the back bedroom and f was trying to finish up my master bedroom. After a period of time two of these men came to me and said they could not put another thing on the "truck" as it was full. my garage was still 2/3bfull and the inside of the house Had not been done. The second truck lay emoth. They told me that my apartment would not hold another item. That's when I discovered that while I was out back they took it amongst themselves to load both sides of the basement (the section that was going to storage and the good sized area that was being donated) on the truck at the same time as they had loaded the craft items in the garage. They refused to load anything further into the second truck. But I was going at the end of this day to live in my new apartment. So with much resistance and telling them that they would load my bed or someone was going to be "hurt" an dirt wasn't going to be me, they did load my bed, after they carelessly discarded items in my bedroom.. I was lived and asked why they had loaded the items from the basement when they had told me no. One guy said that they were trying to help me out. He had not helped me he had just created a hell of a mess for me. And one guy said "you can't expect us to go through all that stuff and separate it out". By the time I got to my apartment, I was a total wreck. I had to call on two neighbor friends to help me get items to live on, few changes of clothing, few dishes, bathroom items, which were mostly packed up. But they could not load any more on the trucks as they had decided what would fit into my apartment amidst themselves. I did write them a check for the amt they were requesting because I had 6 guys breathing down my neck and I was feeling intimidated But I was quiet upset with the entire experience. This was the move from hell. I have stopped payment on the check after stewing all weekend over the events of my move. I did call first thing Monday to file a formal complaint. I was told by their rep that he would speak to the crew and get back to me. It has been close to four weeks and I have heard nothing from them. Meanwhile I had to hire another crew to help me get out of the house urgently now, costing almost as much as what two men and a truck had charged me for the mess they had left me in. So now I have a lot of storage items And donation items in my apartment which I now have to get out to storage and go over to not the one, but two storage units Then there are a lot of things I needed for my apartment that now I have to get from storage to my apartment. I'm embarrassed and ashamed for your company that these men were allowed to come into my home and screw up this job so badly. You would think that out of the six guys, one would have had a brain.

When hiring any service firm, I typically try to get three quotes and ultimately evaluate the teams on price, reviews and services. If I'm honest with myself, cost & reviews tend to weigh the highest. At the end of the day, all I want is a professional that will stay true to their estimate, do a good job, offer a fair price and not try to screw me over. Boy, C Martin Movers is all that and more. Not only did these guys come in lower than the competition but the quality of the work far exceeded my expectations. Don't let the tattoos fool you, these guys are real professionals that take pride in their craft. Smart, nice and they planned my move like a tactical strike. From figuring out "the math" of moving large items in a tight space - to delicate care of my fragile items - these guys kicked butt. All for a price that was less expensive than their closest competitors. Do your homework, looks at unbiased reviews and get your three quotes. I bet you end up picking Charlie's team and you won't regret it. Best mover I've ever worked with. Outstanding job!

They had been retained to deliver the furniture from Scarborough to our residence in Portland (a distance of 8 miles). The charge was $700. Not only did they fail to explain that their quote was based on the value of the items being shipped, their quote also did not contain a notice required under federal law that in the event of damage to property, monetary compensation would be limited to $0.60 per pound, an amount far less than the value of furniture. No opportunity was provided to declare a higher value for the items being shipped and secure additional protection. That would not have been an issue if they had not been lazy, negligent, and unprofessional in handling the delivery. In particular the sofa, which was draped in thin plastic, was damaged as it was tipped off the back of the truck onto the street (it was raining at the time). I personally watched as the two delivery people pushed the sofa face down, on a small 4-wheel dolly rather than carry it to the door. When they reached our door, the arm that was face down was abraded, wet and dirty. When the sofa was inspected further, it was clear that two legs had been damaged and the back of the sofa was abraded and stained. The delivery men acknowledged that they had damaged the sofa, but later the owners would take no responsibility for the damage, and claimed the furniture arrived from the manufacturer with the damage. The manufacturer has photos taken prior to shipping that show no damage. "Integrity" Movers has been totally unresponsive to our claim, has denied responsibility, and refused to pay for cleaning, repair, or replacement of the damaged sofa. I would never recommend them for any type of delivery or move.

I'm unclear as to how/why insurance would be able to come in and assemble a bed that was disassembled by the team. I believe you are responsible for setting up furniture that was broken down and moved. Additionally, they were asset tagged and boxed by the team and not part of the boxes packed ahead of time. Insurance also doesn't explain your commitment to reassembling the bed with the parts, only to then ask to have my brothers handle this as it's too much time and money to send the team back down to finish the job. KEN, I'm happy to be providing the full communication thread between myself and all employees at Integrity Movers if this helps you understand.

I believe they charge you from the time they leave their facility until the time they return, so keep that in mind when estimating your own cost and keep careful track of when they come and go so that you don't get charged more as that almost happened to us. Their employees were friendly and polite and arrived within the timeframe they had promised. We had three guys show (instead of the two that were expected). They moved the furniture fairly quickly as we had a tight window to complete the move on both ends. Unfortunately, there were a couple of items (an electric fireplace and a shelf that we are aware of thus far) that we discovered had minor damage, so be sure to wrap everything carefully that you really care about. They also forgot to bring some of the bolts for the bed frame (which we discovered later) and their drill from the first location, so my husband had to drive back to original house to let them in. Despite these few issues, we were happy to have movers who actually showed up when promised and did what they said they were going to do. We would absolutely consider using them again.

The 2 guys were so pleasant and really hustled though. After the move was complete, we found a small gouge in an acoustic tile in the stairwell, but no other damage. We have hired movers numerous times, and this by far was the smoothest operation.
