I closed it, and when to sleep. Saturday morning, when I opened the fridge, it didn't work. I called three repair service companies, none was able to come home to check the fridge, until Sunday at the end of the day or for Monday. Finally I came across with Alo Repair and the magic begin, I needed to make just one call and they answered the phone immediately, Eligió was doing Some work to a client and tell me he will call back in 5min. He called, I explained him what happened, and he immediately said "No worries, I know that it is happening, I have the parts and equipment with me to fix it, I can be there in 1 hour to check and fix your appliance. He arrived, check the fridge with all his tool and measure equipment, change a small piece, reset the fridge and said we need to wait a few minutes. These 7 min waiting were the most entertaining and jovial minutes I had had in years, Eligió pitch and stories are the best. He check the fridg it start to work and cooling again, he just said it is done, explain the kids really quick what happened and make them to promise they will be more cautious at the time they use the fridge, to avoid further damage. Definitely, more than a service, and consultan and advisor on fridge and the correct use of it. Highly recommended.

Reached out by phone and text - finally heard back that he was out of town and he would be back on Saturday. Contacted him again once after the weekend he was back and sent video of the tv having problems. Unfortunately, have heard nothing! It's now been 3 weeks. Nice to say there is a warranty but at the end of the day - warranties are only as good as the company/person who backs them. Even though I wasn't expecting a long term fix, I had certainly hoped the money I had spent would have bought more than 2 weeks of time. Very disappointing, would not recommend. Update: Mauricio reaches out wanting to make things right. He had a personal emergency and acknowledged he should have communicated that. Life happens - I appreciate him going out of the way and making sure I was satisfied.

Knowledgeable and Trustworthy!…read more I have a 15+ year old refrigerator that neither the refrigerator or freezer were working. Akai inspected the entire unit and indicated the issue was the defroster in the freezer wasn't working and needed to be replaced. He quoted me what I thought was a very fair price but before I could say "Shut up and take my money!" he added that when he had unplugged the unit & plugged it back in, when starting up again the compressor sounded a bit suspicious. Thus he indicated I could go ahead and pay him to install a new defroster in the freezer, but it is only a matter of time before the compressor craps out and then replacing it would be over $1,000 and not worth it. So get this....he proposes that I defrost it the old school way by unplugging it, opening both the freezer & fridge doors, placing towels in front of the unit, and allowing all of the ice to melt and then just mop up all the water with towels and my wet vac and that would solve the problem for now. And in a few months when the issue occurs again I can just repeat the old school defrosting method until the compressor finally goes kaput, and then get a brand new refrigerator. Sure enough, I proceeded to do exactly what he recommended and lo and behold the fridge & freezer started working properly again. And I am all too happy to repeat every few months to squeeze every last bit of life from this old fridge until I have to get a new one. Akai could have very easily kept quiet about the compressor sounding sketchy and that it could fail in 3 weeks, 3 months, or 3 years and gotten a nice service order for replacing the defroster since he had already devoted the valuable time & effort to come to my house. However, he instead chose to be completely honest and forthcoming which is not as common as it should be and is very appreciated. I have saved his contact info and the next time I have any issues with any appliances he will be the technician I call. Knowledge and experience is great and there are a lot of qualified & knowledgeable appliance repair companies out there. However, also possessing honesty and integrity is why I strongly recommend Akai for any appliance repair issues.
