A lighting shop selling more of the classic examples of home lighting. Chandeliers, wall sconces,…read moreflush mounts, some lamps and fans too. Their best categories being, chandeliers (glass & crystal), wall sconces and flush mounts. In these categories you can find something different that is not found in the big box stores. In the front area of the store they also offer a couple curio style cabinets. Occasionally, they may offer a floor display at a discounted rate. I had an old lamp that was in disrepair. The wiring had gone loose and socket out of alignment. I was holding onto it for sentimental value, until one day a family member finally pushed me to fix or junk it. They mentioned seeing a lighting store in Skokie. For some years I have been trying (not often enough) to find a lighting store that is open and will repair my lamp. There are a couple of these stores on the north and nw sides of Chicago. However, all of them have select hours that they are open. In the past, another store in Edgewater suggested junking it for something newer. At the time they said it was too expensive to repair. Glad I held onto it. It was an inexpensive repair. So, Vogue. Found reviews online and placed a call. They said they do repairs of all sorts of indoor lighting and offer reasonable pricing for repairs. At dropoff I was quoted, $20 bucks. Far more reasonable than the other shop. The work was completed within a few days and when I returned for pickup, the associate mentioned that other customers had inquired about purchasing it. Now to move furniture around so that more can enjoy its aesthetic qualities.

Matt was able to fix the short and found replacement glass for the other even though it was twenty years old. So the total was under $100 when we thought we'd be several hundred into replacement fixtures. That said, they had some beautiful fixtures and we would definitely look there if we needed new lighting. Thanks, Matt!

We worked with Davis and he was super helpful and attentive. They have lights, fans, and other indoor and external fixtures and decorations. We will definitely come visit again.

I truly wish I had nicer things to say. Crest has been a Chicago staple and when I finally was…read moreready to upgrade my lighting again I went back to the place that had been tried and true for me years ago. But it seems that era has ended. I came in a hot mess, I have no design skills. I relied on the sales person to help me and I thought she was amazing. She was kind, patient and seemed to really get me and my condo style - benig "vintage" and wanting to modernize was beyond me. She was super helpful and made me feel like she knew exactly what I needed. That was until I left the showroom. I ordered two ceiling fans from her that day, it wasn't cheap. I also ordered one I'd found on my own online. I hired someone reputable to install them for me and I was all set. But then they left and within days the two I purchased from Crest (different manufacturers) were both on the fritz. Hard to believe for sure, but both manufacturers agreed this was a fluke and they both had inherent issues requiring replacement. And then I had to replace them, which meant I had to pay for the labor again. One of the fixtures is in a room I hadn't needed the fan for in the first year. But then I did, and it didn't work. At that same time I noticed the on/off switch wasn't working properly either. I called the manufacturer and they agreed it was a warranty claim and to call Crest to replace the wall switch. Not something I feel comfortable doing on my own. When I talked to Crest, they said they'd order me a part and well... they did but never called to tell me it had come in. I called on my own three weeks later and they said it was there waiting for me. I verified I could wait for the weekend to get it. Of course they are closed on Sundays so It had to be during the short Saturday hours. I raced to get there in the window only to find a lot of confusion. It wasn't waiting for me at all. The woman who said she'd call me was there and surprised I was asking questions. She said she hadn't heard back from the manufacturer to answer my question about paying for labor, and they all just threw their hands up and said they couldn't help me because the manager wasn't there. Let's just say it's the end of an era and I won't be back for business in the future. Good luck with your purchases after you leave the store.
