The report we received after the inspection was detailed and highly professional, and he was happy to explain issues in as much detail as I asked. Issues in a home can send you into panic mode- this is a huge investment, and I don't want to get screwed on something. Matt made it easy to understand the differences between major and minor concerns, and gave advice for small things around the house that will keep it in great shape for years to come. I have found my home inspector for the rest of my home purchases, and I will strongly recommend him to friends and family. First of all, I appreciated how quick and easy it was to get the inspection appointment set up with Gadget Home Inspections. During the actual inspection I was amazed at how thorough Jeff was. (I even shared our results with many family members, and everyone also commented how thorough of a job he did!) Then during the walk-through towards the end of the inspection he answered all my questions with no hesitation. I know nothing about home repairs or what causes certain things, so I just wanted to have a better understanding of the things he was recommending. I felt like I was a nuisance with all my questions but he was so knowledgeable and patient with me. I truly appreciated it! After the inspection he sent us an electronic version of our report. It was nice to have a picture and notes with all of his recommendations. Also, there's a feature in the report that you can easily create a Request List of all the recommendations that you'd like to bring forward. It made things so easy for us! To top it all off, there was an area that Jeff wasn't able to access at the time of the inspection. The seller was able to make adjustments and Jeff came back to look at the area he was initially not able to. That is an example of how thorough Jeff is. Thank you Jeff and Gadget Home Inspections! Your knowledge and expertise make me a lot more comfortable making decisions regarding purchasing our new home!

Brock walked me through the property following his thorough inspection and explained his findings (with no mansplaining). And the final inspection report arrived a few hours afterward, which included photos, videos and links to recall information. I highly recommend Metro Property Inspections.

Unfortunately, I did not have a good experience with Metro Property Inspections. I asked the…read moreinspector specifically before he arrived (I could not be there due to Covid-19) to check a bank of lights on the ceiling of the garage that wasn't working. I asked if the power was not working or the light bulbs were burned out. He told me after the inspection that there was power to it so I assumed they worked. Well, when I put in new light bulbs after buying the house it didn't work. The bank of lights doesn't work and it will cost me several hundred dollars to repair. Had I been told of the issue that I specifically asked about, the fixing cost could have been negotiated into the sale. There were other issues with the inspection but when you specifically ask if something works and are given wrong information that is unfortunate. When I asked the inspector about it after the fact, he said he didn't have a light bulb (there were light bulbs working on the other bank of lights). He did come to the house to look at it again after the fact but offered no explanation on why it didn't work and said he couldn't move a light bulb during the inspection (but he should have come prepared since I told him what the issue was beforehand). I credit him for at least coming back over. But after I paid, he had often not returned messages and was going to have something done for me related to the inspection report but never did. My advice would be to look elsewhere for an inspector. Sure, inspectors miss things but when you specifically bring up something for an inspector to check and are given wrong information, that's not acceptable.

I do NOT recommend this company. They inspected my home recently for a prospective buyer…read more They installed a radon test on the wrong level of the home, with every window open, directly in front of a running fan. They plugged in a washing machine that was specifically stated to not work and not be included in the sale of the home, and attempted to get it running, then LEFT it on when they left the house, so I came home to a broken washer making loud grinding noises and rocking back and forth (had been left this way for several days.) And the kicker is that the guy tracked mud all over my house AND used my bathroom and left the toilet seat up! (During the radon test installation - not during the inspection - he should not have even been in the bathroom let alone leaving the SEAT up. Yuck.) I ended up losing my buyer because of this guy's incompetent inspection.

The inspector walked us through everything very casually…read more We were purchasing our first home, and he discounted a lot of things saying "not a big deal" after things that actually are, but put us at ease long enough to buy the house. I guess I am partially to blame for using an inspector that my realtor recommended. Obviously they benefit from that relationship, and I should have taken that into consideration and not just assumed that this person had our best interest In mind first and foremost. Again, the discrepancy between the casual mention of "little things" wrong with the house and things we would "maybe want to have checked out eventually" and the reality of the situation is vast. Do not expect transparency in your walk through with these people.
