Owen far exceeded my expectations from an inspector. My realtor recommended Alpine Building…read morePerformance to me, and the result was my saving $65k off the list price of the home I ended up buying, because of Owen's attention to detail, passion for learning, pride in his work, and dedication. After Owen had completed the inspection, provided me with the report, and had my money, he called me the next day to tell me that an article he happened to be reading reminded him of something he'd seen in my home (but thought nothing of at the time). After chatting on the phone and going through the inspection report, we found that some of the piping in the house was part of a massive recall. That saved me a lot of money and helped me to make sure to know what to monitor after buying the home. Owen is thorough and friendly, and he helped me to understand everything in the inspection report that I had questions about after doing a walkthrough with me at the end of the inspection itself. He even had no problem with my tagging along as he performed the inspection. I would highly recommend Alpine Building Performance and Owen in particular to anyone needing a home inspection.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. If you're looking for customer service and integrity, look elsewhere!…read more This review is about the service integrity and communication but most importantly the PRINCIPLE of how this situation was handled. Experienced unprofessional and poor customer service from the OWNER of the company. Called to discuss concerns with home inspection I received and the owner completely dismissed my points and was disrespectful. A home inspection is a serious matter, you would think someone who does this for a living would take their craft seriously. Not to mention stay calm and try to help you resolve any and all concerns a customer has. DO NOT RECOMMEND - this company's leadership is entitled and does not take accountability. I do not say this lightly - if you value true customer service, professionalism, accountability, respect and integrity, book with another home inspection company. The inspector missed a smelly gas leak from our stove as well as the state of the appliance (the top was not properly set) imagine what else he missed!! Disappointed customer. (Please go read his google review response to me. He was dismissive and unprofessional AGAIN. Purchasing a home is a serious matter therefore relying on "experts" to inspect your home is serious. This company starting from the top down does not value their customers. It starts at the top and if this is the nasty treatment a customer receives when raising concerns, then this isn't the company you want to place that trust in. For clarification, I mentioned the smell to the inspector in front of my realtor and the inspector said it was FINE, so to later find out it was a confirmed leak is extremely frustrating and scary.) If I could leave 0 stars, I would. Disappointed customer!

This was not hidden damage -- it was visible once baseboards were removed and should have at least been flagged for further evaluation. I also tried reaching out to discuss this and request a reinspection, but never received a response, which was even more frustrating. Based on this experience, I wouldn't hire again.

He…read moreresponded immediately, was very nice and informative over the phone, had full confidence in what he does, gave me options, and walked me through his processes. My families safety was his first priority. He inspected our home like it was his own. He touched, moved, tested, and explained everything throughout the process. He has every tool needed to do the job the right way. Gas detectors, pressure gages, moisture detectors, you name it. He came prepared to investigate every corner. He explained what things were, how they worked, and had patience for every question or concern I had. We came across some concerning issues that we were able to get the builder to take care of right away, with the safety of my family and the rest of the builders in mind. If it was not for Dan, we could have had some serious issues happen during the inspection or shortly after which could have seriously injured the workers/us or compromised the work that was already done. Dan's final report which had tons of pictures, comments, and suggestions was produced and visible a couple hours after the inspection. HUGE BONUS! Key takeaways: Do not settle for the cheapest company out there. You never know who you will get. Our home is new construction home and I would suggest everyone to get an inspection, whether it is new or old. I felt fully relieved after the inspection. Always get an inspection. Spend the extra funds for the peace of mind and to prevent potential long term issues that can cost thousands. Go with an inspector that has confidence, experience, and patience. Go with Dan!!!! He has all the answers you need and won't let you down!! Overall I could not be happier! We did the inspection, radon test, and sewer test. I will recommend Dan to everyone out there.
