There are a million things you have to plan and worry about going awry on your wedding day and this was the one component that was just perfect. From ordering, asking questions, and pickup to cutting and eating - the process working with Hanna was seamless and comfortable. The cake itself was to die for. We went with an almond cake, blackberry filling and cream cheese frosting. This combination was insane! The cake was buttery, flavorful, nutty, nuanced and so rich and delicate. The filling was fresh, sweet, tart, and bright. The frostings were creamy, melt in your mouth goodness. The sweetness was so balanced that no one had a problem inhaling their slice. Might I say - this cake was even better the next day when I had time to myself and my now husband :) to sit down and enjoy a leftover slice with some hot tea. It was just such a memorable part of our entire weekend. Not that I even have to disclose but, obviously, the cake was gorgeous. I was absolutely hesitant to slice and ruin any of this incredibly detailed piping and decor but it cut like butter and tasted just as good as it looked. It was truly a perfect cake and you need one for your next event.

The space is quite spartan - a super long bakery case, a few employees helping folks in line, and some very bare bones tables and cafe chairs. There's a painted mural and some spare (broken?) shelving in an unlit seating area. Most people appeared to be getting their orders to go. Of course, I tried the Black Forest Cake - it was an unpleasant surprise for me. It's crunchy!!! I'm told it's their own classic recipe and it's what they're known for. It was very sweet and clearly the baker who made it was very skilled. I would not even call it cake though... it wasn't moist, chewy or chocolate-y. It had a light, sweet, melt-on-the-tongue crispy airiness. I'll have to try something different the next time I'm in - and I'll be sure to ask the staff for recommendations, so I'm not taken unawares again.

My hubby even likes this bread. It makes great sammies and perfect toast. When I walked into the store, there were lots of treat samples at the front counter. The nice young lady working that afternoon didn't even bat an eye as I taste tested almost all of those samples. LOL! I ended up also getting a slice of the "COW" (cake of the week). That week, the COW was candy bar cake. It was a wonderful well balanced treat. I find that I can't tell that their cakes, cookies, pies, and many other items are actually gluten free. They are simply delish! This bakery attracts even avid gluten eaters because you can tell a lot of care and quality ingredients go into their goods. That is the telltale mark of any good bakery. This place is in a small strip mall. There is adequate parking and I've never had to street park unless it's holiday season. I enjoy having such a tasty place to give my body a break from gluten.
