I found Insider Eats to be a much better option to use over uber eats, Postmates, etc. You can avoid all of the added charges from the apps this way and you get to try authentic dishes from local chefs. I ended up at Pita My Shawarma for pick up. There wasn't one thing I wouldn't order again. Also, It was a great experience to interact with the people there and talk face-to-face with them. I will definitely be recommending Insider Eats to family and friends and will be using it in the future to try out more cuisines. Insider Eats is a food-delivery service in the Pittsburgh area. It operates a website through which customers order local restaurants' food for delivery. As of April 2024, a dozen restaurants are participating: Chicken Latino (Peruvian), Cop Out Pierogies, Fabs (Nigerian), Flavor of Puerto Rico, Fujiya Ramen, La Palapa (Mexican), Leon's Kitchen (Jamaican), Pita My Shawarma (Lebanese), Saigon88 (Vietnamese), Soju (Korean), Taj Mahal, and Tana Ethiopian. As you can see, many of these restaurants serve cuisines that are underrepresented in Pittsburgh's food scene. So far, I have used Insider Eats to order foods from four restaurants: Fujiya Ramen, Soju, La Palapa, and Cop Out Pierogies. All of the restaurants were located several miles or 15-30 minutes away from me. The delivery fees were a very reasonable $3.95, and I also paid state taxes and tips. My first order arrived 2 hours and 15 minutes after I had placed it, but the delivery driver texted me when she was on her way. My second order arrived after 53 minutes. My third order arrived after 1 hour and 22 minutes. My fourth order arrived in 15 minutes--very fast! All delivery drivers were courteous, and they handed me the correct foods without any spills. I wrote separate reviews for each of these four restaurants, so please read those reviews if you are interested. In summary, I enjoyed eating the restaurants' authentic cuisines, and I appreciated that I did not have to fly on an airplane thousands of miles away to experience the flavors. I placed my first Insider Eats order yesterday for Peruvian food from Chicken Latino! It was amazing!!! I opted to pick my food up instead of delivery (because I was on the Beechwood side of town), and it was fun to see the restaurant in person. It's quiet and quaint -- there were a few other customers there, but I was greeted with a BIG smile!!! I ordered the Latino Burger for lunch and two chicken combos to take home for dinner! I now have access to Lebanese, Vietnamese, Polish, Indian, and so many other types of cuisine. Insider Eats is special because it gives you access to menu items that aren't normally on the regular restaurant menus. The delivery takes about an hour to an hour and a half on average depending on your location. You just log onto their website, choose a cuisine, and enter your address.
