Overall, we are satisfied with our master bath remodel done by KML Remodeling, but it took twice as…read morelong as it should have because of incorrect materials delivered and inadequate project management. We had to make concessions on things that were wrongly ordered and there were a few plumbing mistakes which required rework, causing the project to take twice as long as it should have. The carpentry work was exceptional, though, with attention to detail and solid workmanship, resulting in an overall successful project. But, the general supervision and communication from the project manager were dreadful and caused a very stressful experience. As other reviewers have said, messages were rarely responded to and it required me to frequently follow up just to know what was going on with the project, and who and when someone was coming. When the project manager did show up on site, which was rare, he just walked in and went straight to the subcontractor, without barely a hello to us. It's really a shame because a well done job should not be so exhausting and frustrating for the customer. As long as they use the same carpenter, I would recommend them, but I suggest making it very clear at contract signing what you expect and lay out clear rules of engagement and communication expectations. I'm updating my review rating from a 3 to a 4 because the owner, Karen, sincerely listened to our concerns and we feel that she will make the necessary adjustments so that future customers have a more pleasant experience. As previously noted, the workmanship of the main construction components are top notch and had the project manager not made the job so painful, we wouldn't hesitate to use them again.

My "three week" project to install a sink, vanity and new cabinet door turned into a three and a…read morehalf month project! I do not recommend this company. Their lack of communications is unbelievable! Messages are NEVER returned in a timely manner, sometimes never returned! They messed up my walls, which thankfully I had more product so I could fix them. They broke the trim on my door and pushed it together and left it like that, so the wood is cracked! Who does that and just leaves it? The first time they installed the doors, they put them into the door jamb, so you could not open the doors all of the way! It took four days to install a vanity, a vanity top and change two cabinet doors. I have a six car driveway, they parked on the edge of driveway and put ruts in my yard! Save yourself some heartache and frustration and stay away from this company.

About 16 years ago, Big John's Remodeling did a great job finishing my basement. His plan was much better and less expensive than the other bids/plans I had received. So this year, when I decided to remodel my bathroom, I called Big John's again. They just finished remodeling my bathroom, and they did an excellent job. From the estimate to the finish, everything went very well. John's workers took pride in their work and were always measuring and leveling to make sure everything was perfect. They were very respectful and friendly and they cleaned up after each day. When they finished, they assured me that they guarantee their work. This is a dependable, honest business that I highly recommend.

My experience with Chuck and his team at PCS was extraordinary. Chuck is the most straightforward…read moreand contractor I've met in St. Louis, and very professional. He and his crew arrive on time, prepared to work, and don't stop until the job is done including clean-up. He is responsive to phone calls and texts. I asked Chuck to replace 2 rotting decks, which including the entire substructures, footings, and supports--1 on the first floor and 1 on the second floor of my home, including needing to support the roof. He went above and beyond by replacing the rotting supports with steel support beams due to height of the span to be covered The cedar planking looks great, especially after he sanded and sealed it--twice! When I mentioned to him that the first coat seemed to not take, he had the team do it again at no extra charge. PCS also performed other, smaller jobs, including basement tuck pointing, repairing windows that weren't closing properly, removing a broken lightbulb from a socket, etc. Although his quote for the deck was higher than some others, his emphasis on ensuring structural stability and quality were more than worth it. He gave me great ideas for the deck, and it looks better than I could have imagined. I'm preparing to sell my house, and as a part of that I have a couple remaining cosmetic jobs that need to be done. I'm definitely calling him first!
